"You changed your mind, huh? Why, are you planning to stay, or have you met someone you like?" Shen Dingwei raised his eyebrows and asked teasingly.
"There is no such thing as a pure land without war in our country now. The situation is changing rapidly and children will only suffer."
"So you met someone you like?"
"Eat yours."
"Don't be so tight-lipped, it's not a secret."
"You will know what you should know. How can I tell you about things that are uncertain?"
Shen Dingwei smiled, "Not sure? You pursue someone, but they don't like you?"
Yue Xiangli didn't reply to him.
After finishing their meal, the two walked out together and went downstairs. Yue Xiangli saw a man in a blue windbreaker running past the corner, and his profile looked a little familiar.
Yue Xiangli glanced in the direction the man ran and thought for a moment.
After separating from Shen Dingwei, Yue Xiangli got into a low-key car.
"Go to the end of First Street."
"Yes!" Wan Anbang replied.
No. 1 Street is a government area and has always been unsafe.
The car stopped in a deep alley. Yue Xiangli looked at the rearview mirror and saw several men in plain clothes searching quickly in front of the intersection.
Soon the man in the blue windbreaker ran over, holding his stomach, with a bad look on his face.
As he ran over, Yue opened the car door for Li, grabbed the back of his collar and pulled him into the car, then quickly closed the door.
Yue Xiangli leaned back in his chair and pressed the man's face against the seat.
The man groaned and pointed his gun at Yue Xiangli.
Yue glanced at Li and said, "Drive."
Wan Anbang took a look at the situation behind him in the rearview mirror and drove away.
Outside the car, the people who were searching looked at the badge on Wan Anbang's military cap and glanced over it at the same time.
Yue Xiangli pulled down the curtain, loosened his hands, and folded his long legs slightly, "Are you sure you want to point at me?"
Ji Huaimin looked at him for a while, then put the gun away, "Why did you help me, Marshal Yue?"
"This is not the only time I've helped you."
Ji Huaimin was horrified, thinking back to the night two days ago when he had escaped particularly smoothly despite his injuries.
"You don't have anything I want to plot against. I just want to see what you can do to change the situation."
"You can rest assured that you can develop as you wish under my jurisdiction."
"Thank you." Ji Huaimin had observed him for a long time and knew that he was not lying.
"Where are you going?"
"Pear Blossom Lane."
They were silent all the way until they reached the back street at the alley. Yue Xiangli opened the curtain a little, and Ning Sangyu caught his eye at first sight.
Or maybe, he could believe in fate a little.
"Please, General Yue, stop the car." Ji Huaimin said.
"Stop."
Wan Anbang braked when he heard that.
Ji Huaimin opened the car door and got out. As soon as he looked up, he saw Ning Sangyu waiting in front of the pastry shop to pack her food.
Ji Huaimin looked back at the people in the car, then walked through the crowd to find Ning Sangyu.
Yue Xiangli watched him talking to Ning Sangyu with a smile, then stood on tiptoe to look inside and stood still again, as if complaining to him about something.
Looking at Yue Xiangli looking out in the rearview mirror, Wan Anbang, who was not driving, turned around curiously to look.
Ji Huaimin turned around and saw that Yue Xiangli had not left yet, and his gaze lingered for a while.
Ning Sangyu asked him which pastry was delicious. Without waiting for a response, she looked up at him, then followed his gaze and met Yue Xiangli's eyes.
"Brother, why is he here?" she asked.
"We met on the way, Yueyue Shuai sent me back."
"Is he so kind? He saved me this morning."
Hearing this, Ji Huaimin stared at her with a worried tone, "Save? What happened to you? Are you injured?"
