It doesn’t matter, as long as it has food to eat.
"What kind of scale is this?"
Ahefuya put the scale into the petal-shaped pocket on her waist and whispered, "A kind of... scale from a deep-sea species."
Lorsis got the answer and chose not to ask any further questions.
From the moment Wanjiezhu asked him to bring her back, and from her occasional thoughts and silence, Lorsis knew that she had a secret.
But for now they were just somewhat familiar strangers, and Lorsis would not force anything, as that would be ungentlemanly.
The Rots people have always believed in the feeling at first sight, and Lorsis was very sure that he had developed a love for the girl in front of him.
When she had put the scales away, he placed the knife and fork in her hand and showed her again where breakfast was.
After finishing breakfast, he held the box and took her hand, "I made a toy for you."
Ahefuya's attention was drawn to his words, "What toy?"
"Letter cards." Lorsis took her to the leisure hall.
Along the way, the light projected in through the stained glass was weakened, and when it fell on the body, the light was just right, casting distinct shadows on the intricately painted clothes.
"Have you ever been to the Leisure Hall?"
"No, the maids here seem very reserved. They only move around in specific areas, such as the bedroom where I'm staying temporarily, the dining room, and the garden." Ahefuya said softly.
"They don't talk much. Your castle is big, and these places are far apart. They are very quiet, which makes me feel a little empty."
"When it was quiet, I could hear other people breathing. The guards in the castle seemed very serious and motionless."
Accustomed to Felice's intensive and uninterrupted talking, these maids seemed like dull starfish in comparison.
"After the storm, I'll find you a talkative playmate." Edmund's sister seemed to be very talkative.
"Lorsis, I might have gone home by then."
Lorsis evaded the question, "Do you like coffee?"
"I don't think it tastes good. It's too bitter. It doesn't taste good even with sugar and milk."
"What about roasted milk?"
"I like."
"Perhaps you would like some small dessert."
"Um."
The guard opened the door of the leisure hall, and Lorsis instructed one of the guards to ask the chef to prepare dessert.
Ahefeya listened to his instructions to the guards and quietly let him lead her.
When he started to lead her again, she said, "Lorsis, do you know that they all say you are terrible?"
"I know they say I'm ugly, bloodthirsty and cruel, but these are rumors spread by my opponents."
"Then why don't you clarify?"
"Sometimes, fear is the best way to surrender. Some people don't obey."
Ahefuya nodded, not quite understanding.
Lorsis took her to sit down on the plush carpet, opened the box, took her hand and put it into the box, holding her fingers to feel the marks on it.
"There are ridges on the front of the letter cards. There are twenty-six cards from A to Z, with A being the largest and Z being the smallest."
"I will pour the cards out so that the backs of the cards are facing up, and then shuffle them. We will each draw a card, and the one with the smallest card goes first."
"If you don't want to take the opponent's cards or can't afford it, you can say no."
Ahefuya was stunned for a moment and asked, "Did you do this?"
The surface of the card is very smooth, it must have been carefully polished.
"Um."
"Thank you." He knew she was bored, so he carved a deck of cards for her to play with.
"You're welcome. Just be happy." Lorsis poured out the cards, turned them over and shuffled them, "Start drawing cards."
