Chapter 505 You Can Eat Less Dog Food (1 / 2)

August 1980.

The first maximum climb rate limit test of the latest fighter jet developed by the Northwest Flight Base was successful. The test pilot brought back the data and handed it over to the design engineering department, and the technicians began to conduct data analysis and equipment optimization.

The design engineering team completed the research and handed over the engine and EPU improvement plan drawings to the reorganization department.

Chief Design Engineer Xu Xianjin drank a sip of hot tea from the teacup, took off his reading glasses and wiped the lenses with a glasses cloth, "Xiao Shen, I have a task for you."

Shen Buci raised his head from the pile of design drawings on the table, "Mr. Xu, please tell me."

"A designer has been transferred from the Southeast Base. Please go pick her up on our behalf. She still has two hours to get to the train station." Xu Xianjin took out a folded piece of paper from his pocket. "This is her personal information."

"Okay." Shen Buci took it and opened it.

Shi Qingruo, female, 26 years old, unmarried, from Suzhou, is a fighter design engineer at the Southeast Flight Base. She has participated in the research, development and improvement of various types of fighters and bombers.

On the upper left column is her one-inch personal photo.

After reading it, Shen Buci gently folded the paper back and put it in the breast pocket of his dark blue work clothes.

The commuter soldier from the base drove over, Shen Buci got in the car, and leaned back in the chair to take a nap.

The base is far from the train station. We arrived at the train station at 5pm, and there were still 15 minutes before the train stopped.

Shen Buci was waiting at the exit.

At five twenty-five, Shi Qingruo, dressed in sky blue work clothes, came out of the car pulling a large yellow suitcase, with her hair neatly tied into a ponytail.

Her eyebrows were cold and her eyes swept through the crowd.

Shen Buci stepped forward, “Shi Gong, here.”

He was a head taller than the crowd and his appearance was quite eye-catching. Shi Qingruo noticed him as soon as he came out and now watched him walking towards her.

“I’m Shen Buci, a design engineer at the Northwest Fighter Research Flight Base. I’m here to pick you up on the assignment from Chief Engineer Xu Xianjin.” Shen Buci held out his hand to her.

Shi Qingruo stretched out her hand and shook his. "I am Shi Qingruo, Engineer Shen, please give me your guidance in the future."

"Okay." Shen Buci smiled, let go, leaned over and pulled the handle of her suitcase, "Give it to me, the car is outside, and it takes nearly two hours to get to the base from here."

"Thank you." Shi Qingruo nodded, followed him, and looked around.

Shen Buci took her into the car. The military vehicle was driving in the endless Gobi wilderness. All that could be seen was the vast yellow sand and dead grass, with dust flying in the air.

Shi Qingruo looked at the yellow sand in front of her with a calm expression.

Shen Buci noticed her gaze and asked, “Is the northwest very different from the south?”

"It's really different. It rains a lot in the south, so there are more opportunities for fighter jet test flights here."

"Is this Shi Gong's first time in the Northwest?"

Shi Qingruo shook her head. "This is my fifth time here. Actually, I know Mr. Xu. The last time I came here, I was ten years old, and Mr. Xu was called Little Xu by Mr. Deng."

"If the old engineers who worked with Mr. Xu are still here, they should know me."

"Can you tell me more specifically?" Shen Buci was a little surprised.

"My father is a pilot. Nineteen years ago, he was transferred to the Northwest Flight Base as a test pilot. My mother and I came here to visit him several times." Shi Qingruo's eyes showed some longing.

"I remember all the pilots in the past. Is your father Shi Ao?"

"Yeah." Shi Qingruo responded softly.

“He’s great.”

Shi Ao, No. 31185, codenamed Tiger Eagle, performed 27 test flight missions, made great contributions to the extreme performance testing of fighter jets, and died in 1964 during the performance test of a new fighter jet.
