Qi Chang scratched his head, glanced at the coal yard, and said, "Come with me first, we're not going to wait in line. We'll talk about this later."
Qi Chang called out to Xu Keke and started to leave. Meng Zikang wasn't going to let them go and tried to stop them, but the woman next to him stopped him. The woman gave Meng Zikang a wink, signaling him to follow the two of them.
Upon reaching the entrance of the coal yard, Qi Chang raised an eyebrow at the young man guarding the gate and said, "My sister, I'll have her come in with me to help me load the truck."
The young man clearly recognized him, waving him over and letting him in. Meng Zikang and the woman followed behind, also wanting to go in. The young man glanced at Qi Chang ahead, thinking they might be together, and didn't stop them.
Inside, many people were busily shoveling coal from the coal piles, dumping it onto trucks. Those without tools simply picked it up by hand and tossed it onto the trucks.
Qi Chang led Xu Keke to their car, which only had a little bit of cargo on it. He explained to Xu Keke, "I was helping them unload the cargo earlier, so I didn't have time to load more."
Qi Chang picked up the iron shovel stuck in the hole and started working. Xu Keke looked around; there weren't any extra shovels. She thought of imitating the people around her and picking things up by hand, but Qi Chang stopped her, saying, "There aren't many, don't bother."
Xu Keke ignored him and squatted down to pick up large pieces with her hands and load them into the car.
Before long, the people who had been queuing outside rushed in. As soon as they entered, the place instantly transformed into a coal-grabbing frenzy. Everyone instinctively moved faster.
Only Qi Chang, just as he said, didn't intend to put on much of a show, so he did it at a leisurely pace.
Meng Zikang and the woman, who had been standing by watching, grew anxious. Qi Chang was so unhurried; wouldn't all the good coal be snatched up by others? Seeing a customer finish decorating and about to leave, the woman quickly poked Meng Zikang in the waist.
Meng Zikang understood immediately and rushed over, snatching the shovel that the family had thrown down.
It wasn't that he was quick to grab it; it was that the people around him saw that it was Qi Chang's side and remembered that he had just passed them the message, so no one competed with Meng Zikang for it.
Qi Chang and Xu Keke tacitly refrained from stopping Meng Zikang, letting him shovel the truck over and over. Once it was almost full, Qi Chang pulled the truck away.
Meng Zikang, holding a shovel, said anxiously, "Hey, why did you stop pretending?"
The two ignored him and headed straight for the weighing area outside. After the weighing was finished, Qi Chang gestured to Xu Keke to give the coal certificate and money to the man.
The man clearly did this often; he didn't ask for a ticket, skillfully took the money, crossed out the coal certificate, and let them go.
