As expected, when Miss Guo saw Chen Ming and his companion walking over, they were stopped by the bodyguards outside before they even got close.
What Chen Ming said to the bodyguard was overheard by Brother Long, who was sitting on the sofa. He turned around, smiled, and waved to Chen Ming, signaling the bodyguard to let them pass.
Chen Ming led the boy over and sat down next to Brother Long.
The three chatted happily. Brother Long listened attentively with a smile on his face. They seemed to be acquaintances. Enjoying the conversation, Brother Long even had a bottle of good wine opened.
As if they had reached some kind of cooperation agreement, Chen Ming and Brother Long even clinked glasses. The light shone on the crystal-clear glass, and Miss Guo seemed to hear the crisp sound of the glasses clinking together.
Later, Brother Long took something out of his pocket and handed it to Chen Ming. Chen Ming pushed it back, and Brother Long seemed very unhappy, but Chen Ming wasn't afraid.
After much back and forth, Chen Ming reluctantly accepted the item.
Although they were some distance apart, Chen Ming didn't act quickly when he accepted the items. Therefore, Miss Guo could tell that what he was holding were several keys.
When Miss Guo left, Chen Ming and the others were still chatting with Brother Long.
After a while, and some time after Miss Guo left, Chen Ming and Xu Keke finally got up, said goodbye to Brother Long, and left the club.
Li Shi had already driven the car and was waiting outside with Yun Sheng.
Watching them get into the car, he exhaled a breath of stale air. "Stop it, you two are crazy. I thought you came here just to see Miss Guo. What do you want with Brother Long? Do you even know who he is?"
“I know, didn’t you say it last night? Even a powerful dragon can’t suppress a local snake. He’s manipulating the police, military, and government. He’s the real boss on Jiang’s side.” Xu Keke repeated Li Shi’s words from yesterday without a care.
"Yeah, and you two still dared to mess with him. The last person who messed with him, his body rotted in the ground, and the tree that rotted from it is probably as tall as a person." Li Shi regretted mentioning Brother Long to them yesterday. These two are too bold to provoke him.
Sitting in the back, Yun Sheng was very interested in Chen Ming's pocket watch and was playing with it in his hand.
Chen Ming, worried that he might fall, put his arm around his waist. Listening to their conversation, he looked out the window, seemingly lost in his own thoughts, and didn't interrupt.
"What you're saying is ridiculous. Brother Long is a cultured man. When we went over, we told him that a friend had mentioned his villa had a strong traditional Chinese cultural atmosphere. We discussed taking some photos with him to publish in a foreign magazine. Of course, if we were lucky enough to get a short interview with him, that would be even better. Brother Long agreed immediately. It's not as terrible as you make it out to be."
Xu Keke glanced at Chen Ming and said, "He gave us the keys to his unused villa so we could take pictures anywhere. He also said that if we were interested in staying for a couple of days to experience the atmosphere, it would be an honor for him."
"Shoot...shoot the magazine!" Li Shi's hand slipped, and the car wobbled.
Xu Keke gave him a disdainful look. "Of course, Chen Ming will call Jiang's side as soon as he gets back and ask someone to print a few foreign magazines for him. Then he'll arrange for someone to deliver them. We told him that since the things were left with Jiang's side, we've already sent someone to pick them up. They should arrive in the next few days, and we'll bring the magazines to Brother Long when we go to see him in a few days."
"Stop the car!" Chen Ming suddenly shouted to Li Shi.
As Li Shi pulled the car over to the side of the road, Chen Ming quickly took off his pocket watch, stuffed it into Yun Sheng's hand, and then opened the car door and jumped out.
Under the streetlight, stood a girl in a school uniform, carrying a small leather suitcase. Xu Keke saw her as the car drove by.
The streetlights cast a dim yellow glow, obscuring her features. Judging from her silhouette, she seemed to be a pretty and gentle girl. The way she looked around suggested she was waiting for someone.
Chen Ming ran over quickly, and the two of them stood on the street and started chatting.
Based on Xu Keke's understanding of Chen Ming from that day, this female student wasn't familiar with him. It was quite obvious that Chen Ming maintained a safe distance from her, the distance he would maintain with a stranger.
"Didn't you say he wasn't from around here? Is this someone he just met?" Xu Keke asked Li Shi, who was in the driver's seat, as she looked at the two people outside the car window.
"That's what he told me, but I don't know the specifics."
Xu Keke asked warily, "How do you know him?"
"The landlord found it himself. When I rented it, the landlord said that the room was for two people to share. He just couldn't find a suitable one at first."
Xu Keke swallowed hard. The reason she trusted Chen Ming so much was because Li Shi knew everything about his deception. Such things shouldn't be known unless you're a very close friend.
"Then how did you find out about his affairs?"
Li Shi scratched his head. "One day, a phone call came from downstairs, and he asked me to go down and answer it for him. It was the bank manager's wife. She thought I was him and immediately asked when he was coming home and told him to pay her back as soon as possible. When I came back, he told me what happened."
Xu Keke breathed a sigh of relief. As long as they needed money, that was fine.
Not long after, Chen Ming called the female student and got into the car together.
"She is Liu Fang, a friend of mine. She just arrived here."
Xu Keke noticed that Chen Ming's words were vague; besides his name, he didn't say anything else. She suspected that either he didn't know much either, or he couldn't tell them what he did know.
Li Shi clearly didn't care about any of that, and while driving, he greeted the girl in the back.
"Her name is Huihui, she's my cousin's niece, and I'm her uncle. Um, the little one next to you is called Yunsheng. He's..."
