The casinos here are all owned by Brother Long.
When they walked in with their cameras, it was clear that the people there had already been notified.
This was something they asked Brother Long for yesterday; they wanted to take pictures of the casino and publish them in a magazine. Their reason was that many of the decorations here have a more traditional Chinese style.
Whether it was Brother Long's arrangement or his subordinates' attempts to guess his intentions, the casino staff gave them some chips.
Chen Ming pretended to go take photos.
Xu Keke led Yun Sheng to the table where they were gambling on dice.
Xu Keke noticed something amiss after observing only a few rounds: the dealer could manipulate the numbers and would give a signal to someone playing on the other side. To be safe, he didn't notify that person every round, but only every few rounds.
Xu Keke would place large bets when he gave her a signal, and small bets when he didn't give her a signal.
After a few rounds, I made quite a bit of money.
Just as Xu Keke was about to place her bet after the dealer stopped giving any further hints, Yun Sheng pulled her back. He dragged her hand to the other side.
To her surprise, she was right every time. This shocked Xu Keke. She stopped looking at the other person's hints and listened to Yun Sheng's advice completely, and to her surprise, she got them all right.
Yun Sheng could hear the sound of the dice falling.
Realizing the dealer was already watching them, Xu Keke didn't dare let Yun Sheng continue. She started doing the opposite, constantly losing money.
By the time Chen Ming walked over, Xu Keke didn't have many chips left.
Chen Ming clearly didn't mind, teased her a bit, and played a few rounds himself. Unexpectedly, his luck turned around as soon as he started, winning several rounds in a row. After that, it became a mix of wins and losses; it looked like they were evenly matched, but he actually lost more than he won.
He was running out of chips. At this point, he was intensely motivated to win.
After he lost all the chips the two of them had, he unwillingly bought another bunch of chips.
Then something strange happened: Chen Ming lost every single game. Xu Keke tried to persuade him to leave, but he wouldn't listen. People nearby, hearing Xu Keke's shouts, curiously gathered around to see what was going on.
Seeing that Chen Ming was losing every single game, some people around him started to cheer him on.
Just then, the two heard a greeting from behind them, and they knew that the person they were waiting for had arrived.
The young nobleman, surrounded by admirers, entered dressed in a plaid suit and with slicked-back hair, looking quite fashionable.
He greeted the people there familiarly. His attendant had already exchanged the chips and was carrying them behind him.
He also saw the commotion; it was impossible to pretend he didn't see it, as many people were gathered there. Just as he approached, Chen Ming had lost his last chip.
"Let's go, you've lost everything. Let's go back," Xu Keke said softly to Chen Ming.
“I don’t believe it,” Chen Ming shook her off and glanced at the young nobleman beside him. “Young master, could you lend me a bargaining chip?”
The young nobleman asked the person next to him what was going on. He heard that Chen Ming had lost every hand and had lost all his money. Seeing that Chen Ming insisted on borrowing a chip from him, he found it amusing and casually picked one from behind and tossed it to Chen Ming.
To everyone's surprise, Chen Ming started winning. And he won every single round, not only winning back all their losses but also winning significantly more.
Everyone around them got excited. Chen Ming also got excited and said to the young nobleman, "You are my lucky star. I'll treat you to a meal another day when I have time."
The young nobleman didn't believe him. After all, he didn't see these people every day, so where could he go another day? Nevertheless, he was very happy; after all, being called a lucky star was something to be pleased about.
Xu Keke urged him again, saying she had things to do that evening and wanted him to leave quickly. Chen Ming, seeing that he had the upper hand, returned the young master's bargaining chip. He wanted to give more, but the other party refused. Chen Ming could only thank him repeatedly and left with Xu Keke and Yun Sheng.
That evening, at the club, Miss Guo saw Chen Ming with Xu Keke again.
This time, Li Shi sat alone in a corner.
Chen Ming greeted Miss Guo generously. Just as Miss Guo was hesitating whether to let him come over, she saw Chen Ming and Xu Keke greeting Kang Wei, the second young master of Huitong Bank, from afar before walking over.
Kang Wei was a notorious playboy in Jiang's area. His family wasn't just any ordinary wealthy family, especially since his eldest brother controlled the finances of national defense. They were incredibly rich.
Conway is a dabbler, always getting into all sorts of things and causing trouble. News about him appears in the papers almost every now and then. His family doesn't seem to care. Rumors circulate that his older brother deliberately spoiled him.
The key issue is that this guy has a terrible temper and is notoriously difficult to deal with. He doesn't get along with just anyone. Those who are usually around him are either extremely wealthy or powerful, and they also have to be compatible with him. Otherwise, he won't give them any face at all.
Yesterday's Brother Long, today's Kang Wei. Neither of them is simple. Miss Guo, holding her wine glass, watched Chen Ming from a distance.
They're so close to Conway, they're probably thinking of getting him to work on that insurance policy together, right?
Conway, who was some distance away, put down his wine glass and said to Chen Ming, "That tomboy has been staring at you the whole time. Did you piss her off?"
Upon hearing this, Chen Ming didn't shy away. He generously picked up his wine glass, turned around, and raised it to Miss Guo.
“My friend has some business dealings with them, but the shopkeeper is asking for too much profit. I wanted to get along with her, but I didn’t expect her to be unable to make the decisions.”
“Really?” Conway said, intrigued. “I have a friend named Fang whose family is also in the textile business, but the market has always been dominated by the Guo family, so their business hasn’t been doing well. If your friend is interested, I can introduce you to them.”
