Chen Ming picked up his teacup and sipped it slowly.
He put down his teacup and looked at Miss Guo with regret. "When I came to you, no one else had, so it was easy to talk to you. As you know, everyone else is interested in this project now. So the amount for this cooperation has increased accordingly."
"Then, is it possible to reduce the number? I can be a minority shareholder. It doesn't have to be that everyone is a major shareholder."
Miss Guo held the contract to her chest, as if afraid it would be snatched away.
"That's definitely not going to work. Too many people would want to join. What would we look like then? Besides, we're already at our limit." Chen Ming waved his hand, decisively indicating that it wouldn't do.
Just then, the phone on the table rang, and the room suddenly became quiet.
Liu Fang answered the phone, and a receptionist's voice came through, "Hello, is this Long Mansion? There's a call from Zhongda Head Office, may I take this call?"
Miss Guo immediately realized that this was a unique calling method specific to the Long Mansion.
Liu Fang looked at Chen Ming, who impatiently tapped her to signal her to answer the call.
"Hello, is this Mr. Chen? Oh... okay, this is Zhongda Bank. I just wanted to inform Mr. Chen that a remittance to Valmont Insurance has been recalled due to a credit issue. We will temporarily freeze the account. If you have any business in the near future, we will transfer it to Mr. Chen Ming's personal account."
Liu Fang covered the microphone and looked at Chen Ming for his opinion.
Chen Ming nodded readily. Liu Fang exchanged a few words with the other party and then hung up the phone.
"Notify those companies to transfer the funds to my account first, and then..." Chen Ming winked at Liu Fang. Liu Fang understood, got up, and left.
"If one of your companies has a problem, then you can add me in."
Chen Ming looked at Miss Guo hesitantly, "But this sum of money is not a small amount!"
It's certainly not a small amount. With her current savings, she simply can't reach that amount.
Seeing Miss Guo's hesitation, Chen Ming smiled and said, "I am truly grateful to you. Although you didn't agree to cooperate with me at first, you still wanted to help me when I encountered problems, and I am really thankful. However, no need, really no need. This payment can be easily resolved."
As they were talking, Conway's voice came from outside.
Miss Guo couldn't tell who Kang Wei was talking to, but Xu Keke and Chen Ming knew that Li Shi must have stopped him.
A short while later, Liu Fang walked in, "Mr. Kang..."
Upon hearing the name, Chen Ming's eyes lit up, and he stood up from the couch. "Perfect!"
Just then, Conway called from outside the door, "I told him last time, if he needs anything, he should come to me. If he can't do other businesses, investing money is easy enough..."
I couldn't hear what Conway said after that; he was pulled away by someone.
Seeing Chen Ming about to leave, Miss Guo panicked and stopped him.
“Mr. Chen, this isn’t right. You contacted me first. I have no problem with you saying the payment was ready. But there’s clearly a copy available now. You should at least give it to me first.”
Chen Ming hesitated for a moment, "Well, to be honest with you, when I first approached you, it wasn't too much money, but now the amount is too large, and I'm afraid you might not have enough on hand."
"It's okay, give me a week!"
Chen Ming glanced quickly at Xu Keke. They both knew the fish had taken the bait.
"May I ask, Miss Guo, how do you plan to raise the money? As you know, if I agree to your request, I'll have to go back to my family elsewhere."
"You don't need to worry about it, I have my own way. Just give me a week."
Chen Ming pressed her for an answer. Having had a heart-to-heart talk with Chen Ming a few days prior, Miss Guo only hesitated for a moment before answering directly.
"Actually, my solution is quite simple. I own a factory, and since my father is still around, I can't sell it. But the factory is insured. You understand what I mean?"
"Does Miss Guo mean to commit insurance fraud?"
"Yes!" Miss Guo no longer hid anything and bluntly stated her thoughts.
"I won't lie to you, there were people who did this before. You don't need to know who they were, but someone did it before. I'll get a few people to burn the factory down. The insurance company will have to pay me. That way, I'll have money to give you."
"But if you clear out all the people inside, the insurance company will notice." Chen Ming asked very carefully, hoping it wasn't what he thought.
Unexpectedly, Miss Guo said without even thinking, "Why is the factory clearing people out? The compensation for deaths inside is much greater."
Xu Keke and Chen Ming both frowned. Someone had done this before; there was no need to investigate—it must have been the Guo family. Otherwise, how many people would be as quick to reveal such a secret as Miss Guo?
This is probably why the Guo family still had funds to get through the most difficult times.
Xu Keke sneered inwardly. No wonder this Boss Guo has no son; he's done too many bad things.
“Miss Guo, I don’t want you to do that. If you do, I will absolutely not cooperate with you,” Chen Ming said to her with a stern face and absolute certainty.
"Why?" Miss Guo asked, somewhat puzzled. "Because you also work in insurance?"
"Not only that, but I also don't want to see anyone die in vain. Regardless of their poverty or wealth, they are all human beings. If you really want to cooperate with me but don't have the money, I can sign an extension contract with you. You can pay me in several installments in the future."
Miss Guo was shocked. She never expected it, she really never expected it. Someone could actually do it for free.
