Chapter 268 Female Shoe Factory Workers in the 1970s (12)

Xu Keke took five days off at home. During those five days, she, along with Zeng Qiang and Yang Xia, resolved the issue of the small house belonging to the Zeng family.

It wouldn't have been this fast originally, but thanks to Wang Lin's help. That day, when Xu Keke mentioned wanting to move, Wang Lin helped her inquire about it.

It just so happens that the textile factory's dormitory building is over there. The homeowners, a married couple, both work at the textile factory. One of them is even a quality inspector at the factory.

Their elderly relatives live in the city, and their children attend school there. They don't feel comfortable leaving their children with the elderly every day.

Although the Zeng family's house was only ten square meters, it was enough for them because it was just across the street from their parents' house. It was just the two of them living there, so they didn't care about the size.

Most importantly, at that time, people still held a prejudice against the countryside, feeling that it was inconvenient and didn't sound as good as the city.

Everything was arranged, except for a certificate from Zeng Geng's factory proving that they knew the houses had been exchanged and agreed to the exchange. Once that was done, everything would be settled, and they could move in and change their household registration.

There are no specific regulations governing the issuance of certificates; it all depends on the individual subjective judgment of the person handling the matter.

In other words, the leaders of Zeng Geng Chemical Plant felt that this matter would neither harm the interests of the country nor cause harm to others.

Then he can take out a piece of paper, write down his opinion with a pen, and stamp it with a big red seal.

The certification documents for the textile factory have been completed; only Zeng Geng's side is missing.

Zeng Qiang found Xu Keke with a worried look on his face. He was too embarrassed to even go into the hospital, so he asked someone to call Xu Keke out for him.

Looking at the injuries on his face, Xu Keke was speechless. "Why did you even resort to violence? What happened?"

Zeng Qiang felt wronged. "They disagreed, so I argued with them, and then it escalated into a physical fight."

"You were taken advantage of?"

Zeng Qiang pouted, "They'd definitely be at a disadvantage in their factory. Dad said he wouldn't switch; he said he never agreed to it in the first place. Now that the factory doesn't agree either, let's just forget about it. Let's not cause trouble for the company."

Xu Ke could probably understand the normal psychology of the elderly in this era. They are always afraid of something going wrong. So when they encounter a problem, they act like turtles, quickly retracting their heads.

"Do all the factory leaders disagree, or is it just a few people who disagree?"

Zeng Qiang was somewhat indignant. "There weren't many, just one, that guy surnamed Zhou. Originally, the factory manager had already agreed after hearing my explanation. But then he pushed open the door and asked me to think about it again. Then he said a bunch of things that I couldn't understand. In the end, the factory manager disagreed."

Xu Keke recognized the man; he was Zeng Geng's junior colleague from the factory back then. He was also the one who took his house away from him.

"What is his position now? He works at the factory."

"He's the head of the security department now. He's really powerful. He's the one who had people fight me and coaxed me out of there."

Xu Keke smiled. "What do you think?"

“Our dad has already said no, arguing with him is definitely not going to work. We'll just upset him even more.”

Xiaoxia and I discussed it, and it won't work out. We'll just stay here like this for now. We'll both apply to the factory again to see if we can get housing. The problem is, Xiaoxia and I don't work at the same factory, and we haven't been there long, so we'll have to wait.

Xu Keke nodded thoughtfully. "I'm going to the chemical plant tomorrow, are you coming?"

Zeng Qiang was taken aback for a moment, then said, "If you're going, I'll definitely go with you. In case we get into a fight, I won't let you suffer."

Xu Keke looked at the bruises around his eyes; even in that condition, he was still protecting her.

The next day, Xu Keke waited for Zeng Qiang downstairs early in the morning. Yang Xia came downstairs, saw her, and cheerfully whispered in her ear,

"I didn't tell my parents. Zeng Qiang will be down in a bit."

Xu Keke glanced around. "There's no one here, you don't need to speak so softly. Just speak normally."

Yang Xia stuck out her tongue, a little embarrassed. "Qiangzi said I was too loud and told me to be quieter, afraid that my parents upstairs would hear me."

Glancing at her watch, Yang Xia smiled and waved. "Sister, I have to go now. I'm going to be late."

There are always some people in life who may not be very wealthy or have a luxurious life, but they live carefree and content with whatever comes their way. They are unaware of the hardships of life and only see its sweetness.

Xu Keke watched Yang Xia's retreating figure. Such a peaceful state of mind is not something everyone possesses.

"Sis, what are you thinking about? Let's go!" Zeng Qiang suddenly appeared, startling Xu Keke.

"Finding Yang Xia is your good fortune."

Zeng Qiang was taken aback for a moment, not knowing why his sister suddenly made this remark. Then he scratched his head and laughed.

"Of course, my grandma used to say that I'm a fool but I'm lucky. She also said that people can't always have bad luck, and that things will always get better."

Xu Keke smiled. "That's right, good people always get good rewards. That's how the world should be."

When they arrived at the chemical plant, it was just as the workers were entering the factory. Xu Keke and Zeng Qiang followed the flow of people into the plant.

The head of the security department, surnamed Zhou, stood at the main gate, speaking to the person next to him in an imperious manner.

He didn't notice Zeng Qiang and Xu Keke. Or perhaps he didn't expect that they would come knocking on his door today, just after he had beaten them up yesterday.

However, with Zeng Qiang's guidance, Xu Keke recognized him.

"Sis, where are you going?" The two parked their bicycles in the parking shed and, seeing Xu Keke walking back, Zeng Qiang quickly called out to her.

"That building in front is their factory's office building."

Xu Keke ignored him, strode over to Section Chief Zhou, and excitedly grabbed his hand.
