However, the final arrangement was somewhat different from what Xu Keke had imagined.
She thought she could go home and rest. Little did she know she'd still have to go to work every day. She'd still be sitting in her seat, just not participating in the work.
Xu Keke rolled her eyes. It was as if she used to work here.
Because of the special task force's arrival at the factory, the way people looked at Xu Keke when she walked outside the warehouse was completely different from before.
They also loved to raise their voices in front of her, as if afraid she wouldn't hear them, and whisper secrets.
If someone had an extreme sense of shame, they probably wouldn't have been able to stay there long ago.
Xu Keke, however, acted as if nothing had happened.
Liu Wen leaned closer, somewhat mysteriously, "You mean, did you know this day would come all along?"
Xu Keke discovered that when people are together, their IQ tends to be lower. Over time, the person with the higher IQ will accommodate the person with the lower IQ and will also become less intelligent.
Xu Keke pointed outside with her finger. Liu Wen turned around in confusion, and Du Yi, who was behind him, also looked outside.
There was nothing there. The two of them turned around again, looking at Xu Keke with puzzled expressions.
"I told you to stay away from me. Haven't I heard that you two have an improper relationship?"
As Deputy Director Fang predicted, the rumors about her and the two men's affair have been circulating like wildfire in the factory these past two days.
It's already entered the detailed description stage. It details which time and place she was seen with whom, and how their hands were linked. There were also reports of people witnessing indescribable scenes, which, according to the person involved, she's too embarrassed to talk about.
If she weren't afraid of scaring her, Xu Keke would have gone over and asked her to explain in detail. With these people's imaginations, their stories would definitely be more interesting than newspapers of this era.
"My uncle said, rumors stop with the wise," Du Yi said seriously to Xu Keke with a straight face, then leaned closer, still looking gossipy.
"Fine, I'll tell you. Before that Deputy Director Fang went to the cadre school, he used to come to our house often, you know? My uncle said that the reason we sent them to investigate was to clear the name of the people who were trying to smear you."
Otherwise, the investigation team wouldn't have come down so openly. Xu Keke had already anticipated this.
If the higher-ups truly believed the report was true, they would have had the factory handle it directly long ago. Why would they make such a big fuss? This is clearly a pretense, an attempt to dispel the rumors.
Rumors are flying everywhere now, and no one will listen to anything I say. It will only make things worse. Only after a thorough investigation by higher authorities, clearing my name, will these rumors dissipate on their own.
The reason she could figure it out was because there was still one major loophole in the whole thing: Director Du.
Throughout the entire investigation, Director Du was never mentioned. This is the most unreasonable thing.
It's clear that unspoken rules are the easiest way to gain trust and make rumors impossible to refute. Yet, in the charges he fabricated against himself, Director Du, who had always defended him, was conspicuously absent.
This is definitely not a mistake by the enemy. There is only one possibility: the higher-ups deliberately avoided this point.
The reason for avoiding the issue is that someone doesn't want Director Du's resume to be tainted.
From an outsider's perspective, how could someone like myself, a close subordinate of Factory Director Du, possibly allow anything to happen to me?
Xu Keke had already figured it out the moment Zheng Shu announced those three names.
"You haven't said anything yet, but did you already know? Otherwise, why would you leave everything to me? You've always let me make the decisions about the warehouse."
Therefore, if a problem occurs, I can temporarily take over your position without affecting normal work. Is that right?
Faced with Liu Wen's persistent questioning, Xu Keke sighed. Why did he have to force her to say that she simply didn't want to do these menial tasks?
She sits there all day, copying data, managing the few people under her, and also taking inventory of the warehouse according to her own rules.
She had absolutely no interest in these things, and didn't want to do them at all. In fact, she had long been thinking about leaving the warehouse, and if it weren't for this whole mess, she would have already brought it up with Director Du.
After spending four days at the factory, the special investigation team finally remembered to talk to Xu Keke, the person involved.
Zheng Shu opened the door for her; the conversation took place in the conference room.
The members of the investigation team sat in a row inside.
Although Deputy Director Fang was sitting in the middle, he did not speak; all the questions were asked on his behalf by Zheng Shu.
The others were all putting on an act. Even the head of the factory's security department had an open notebook in front of him and was clumsily holding a pen, pretending to be preparing to write something.
The questions started off very simple, until Zheng Shu asked her with her head down,
"Besides what you did at the factory, have you had any private contact with these people? What were the specific times and places?"
"No!"
Zheng Shu casually jotted something down in her notebook. Hearing her brief reply, she paused, then looked up impatiently and said,
"Think about it again, don't rush to answer."
"No!"
Zheng Shu slammed the notebook shut and slammed her hand on the table. "What's wrong with you! I told you to think it over carefully, didn't you understand?"
Xu Keke wasn't exactly known for her good temper, and she glared back at her, saying, "I said no, and that's it. There's nothing to think about."
Zheng Shu flipped through the notebook, stopping at the first few pages. "On the 20th of last month, Wei Guodong left work with you. You two left the factory one after the other. Where did you go?"
"I don't remember where I went after get off work on the 20th of last month. Also, what do you mean we went to where we left work one after the other? That didn't happen. How am I supposed to answer you?"
Xu Keke never had a kind attitude towards people who couldn't speak politely to her. The few people in the factory watched her calmly, waiting to see what would happen.
