Chapter 294 Little Tadpoles Looking for Their Mother in the 1980s 2

I pulled my English notebook out of my bag, glanced at the blackboard, and quickly jotted down notes. I also scribbled something on the open page of my book.

After class, Cheng Yi handed his English notebook to Xu Keke.

Xu Keke hesitated for a moment while holding the notebook, but still pushed it back to him.

Cheng Yi pushed it back. He knew that although her grades in all subjects were not good, her English was the worst.

For every English question she got wrong, she had to copy it twenty times as punishment. He was shocked the first time he saw her handing in her exam paper after the test.

The back of the test paper was covered with densely packed incorrect answers. And that was followed by two more sheets of math paper, both sides of which were filled with writing.

She slept on the table all morning that day.

"I just wrote down the key points in the book. You can take this home and study it at your leisure. You can ask me if you have any questions tomorrow. The English quiz is the day after tomorrow. There is no English class tomorrow."

His words reminded Xu Keke, and she returned the blue notebook that was on her side to him.

Cheng Yi could tell at a glance that Xu Keke hadn't copied it yet.

He reached onto the far left of her desk and pulled out the nearly new Chinese textbook. He opened it, took a red ballpoint pen, and began drawing and marking on it. He even folded a corner of the marked page.

Then he put the book back on her desk and instructed her, "Read all the folded pages tonight. They're for tomorrow's exam."

Xu Keke picked up the book and carefully flipped through it. Clearly, this wasn't the first time Cheng Yi had highlighted important points for the original owner of this body.

No wonder, even with Cheng Yi's reclusive personality, the original owner would still think of sending him a schoolbag so she could go see him after he got into trouble.

The last class was a self-study period, and Xu Keke took out all of the original owner's books and flipped through them one by one.

Fortunately, although it differs from the world I knew before, the knowledge in the books is not beyond my syllabus.

The teachers have all gone to a meeting. The class monitor, Lu Na, is in charge of maintaining discipline during self-study periods.

No one listened to her; many people wandered around aimlessly, chattering and making a ruckus.

Those who weren't studying were all very curious about Cheng Yi and Xu Keke. One male classmate with a face full of acne wanted to ask Cheng Yi, "What was Li Bo trying to do to me when he took off his pants?"

Cheng Yi's sharp gaze shut them down.

Cheng Yi was curious about Xu Keke, who was reading a book. The way she casually picked up the book was different from before.

She seemed very calm. She didn't appear worried at all about tomorrow's exam.

As the bell rang, the sound of students packing their bags filled the classroom. Those who were quick were already heading out. The students left on duty went to the back of the classroom to get brooms and mops.

Xiao Han came over with his schoolbag on his back and helped Cheng Yi take his crutches. He then stood aside and waited.

As they came out of the teaching building, Cheng Yi and Xiao Han were accompanied by three male classmates from their class.

Just as they were nearing the school gate, Luna caught up from behind, panting heavily. She swallowed hard, clutching her back.

"Teacher...you boys are allowed to go back. You are not allowed to...you are not allowed to get into a group fight with the seniors."

No matter what the boys said, they were just taking Xu Keke home. It was no use.

Luna insisted, "I don't care, the teacher just finished a meeting. She heard you were going to fight and she was very angry, so she told me to call you back."

The three boys looked at each other, feeling awkward as they looked at Cheng Yi and Xiao Han.

Xu Keke glanced at Lu Na, then walked straight out of the school without even stopping.

"Wait for us!" Xiao Han shouted as he ran towards the parking shed.

Cheng Yi jumped two steps and grabbed Xu Keke's backpack strap, "We'll go with you."

She turned back and shouted to the three male classmates, "Go see the teacher and explain to the teacher that we're not going to fight."

Xu Ke was afraid of walking too fast, and if he fell again, he could only slow down.

Xiao Han pushed his bicycle over, took the schoolbag from Cheng Yi's hand, and threw it into the bicycle basket.

He reached out to Xu Keke again, asking for her schoolbag. Xu Keke refused. He didn't insist.
