Chapter Seventeen: High School Female Teacher in the 1980s

"What do you mean by this? You already paid for lunch, why are you giving me money again?"

Seeing that he wouldn't take it, Xu Keke took the money out of the red envelope and placed it on the coffee table. "Didn't you say today that I'm one of the partners? I can't come up with more right now. This is all I have; consider it my initial investment. From now on, we're partners."

Fang San stared at Xu Keke's face, seeing her serious expression and open demeanor, and sighed inwardly. He reached out and took the money.

"Okay, no problem. From now on, we're partners."

Fang San flipped through the money in his hand and laughed again, "No wonder you left this money in my car that day. It seems you already knew you'd give it to me sooner or later."

Fang San counted the money, then asked Xu Keke for a piece of paper and wrote down their partnership details and the amount of money involved. He also agreed with Xu Keke on how to split any profits they made. Xu Keke didn't care about these things anyway, so she let him have his way.

After everything was agreed upon, Fang San took the money and went home.

As soon as I entered the house, I saw Grandpa Fang sitting inside drinking tea.

"You went to that girl's house in the Du family?"

Fang San looked a little guilty. "How did you know?"

Old Master Fang glared at her. "Hmph, the way you stomped upstairs, it sounded like you could collapse the building. How could anyone not hear you?"

Fang San, "What do you want to say?"

"What I'm saying is, don't think that just because a girl has been married before, she'll be with you. You need to be clear-headed. She's a high school teacher, and what are you? You're neither good at academics nor martial arts. Such a good girl, why would she be with you?"

Fang San lowered his head uncomfortably, his ears burning red; if it weren't for his dark complexion, they would have been completely red. Fang San replied awkwardly, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

“I’m talking nonsense. You don’t sleep every night, you should go stand guard at their door. Go out early in the morning and wait for them. Do you think these neighbors can’t see you? You’re a grown man, and you’re fine, but that kid isn’t even divorced yet. If something bad gets out, you, you’ll be a sinner for all time.”

Grandpa Fang glanced at his dejected grandson and felt a pang of sympathy. "That kid is really good. If you're so kind, do things the right way. Don't make a fuss over nothing. When she gets divorced, her parents will look at you more favorably. Then you'll have more confidence when you pursue her. These days, help out, but don't push your luck too much. Don't make things worse for her."

Even though Fang San was a tall man, he didn't dare to talk back after being scolded by his grandfather, and muttered under his breath.

"I... I'm not afraid. I just won't go with them, or someone will beat me to it."

Grandpa Fang looked around, picked up a cloth from the table and threw it at Fang San, saying, "You little rascal, you can't ruin someone else's child's reputation."

Xu Keke had no idea what the father and son were thinking. After not seeing Fang San for two days, she couldn't sit still. After work, she took the initiative to go to the Fang family's house.
