Chapter Twenty-Nine: High School Female Teachers in the 1980s

To accurately assess students' true abilities, the final exam at No. 2 Middle School was a collaborative effort with other schools. The teachers only saw the exam papers the day before the exam, close to the end of the workday.

Xu Keke quickly discovered upon receiving the test paper that the school's small printing plant had mistakenly printed all the letters P as B. If the letters were wrong on the English test, the questions would be wrong.

Teachers from other grades said that during the exam, students should just find the mistakes and correct them themselves.

But Xu Keke felt this wouldn't work. Students are already nervous during exams. They need to concentrate on thinking, and adding this task is like making you pick up litter along the way after running 800 meters, which is already tiring enough. That would undoubtedly increase the difficulty of the exam and waste their exam time.

Fortunately, other teachers also believed that the problem should not be pushed onto the students.

So after get off work, Xu Keke stayed at school and, together with two other female teachers, found the words with misspelled letters on each test paper, crossed them out one by one, and then wrote the correct words on them with a pen.

There are five classes in total, with more than forty students in each class. Including the spare papers that need to be reserved, there are a total of 230 sets of test papers.

By the time she finished the work, it was already nine o'clock at night. Afraid that Lin Munan and Du Junsheng would worry, Xu Keke said goodbye to the other two teachers and quickly rode her bicycle home.

Because it was so late, there weren't many pedestrians on the road, and even fewer vehicles.

That night, the moon was obscured by clouds, and some streetlights were out; only the occasional passing car brought up a patch of light.

Xu Keke was riding her bicycle when she felt like a car was following her. Luckily, she was almost home after just one more street. Xu Keke sped up.

There were even fewer people on this street; the empty street seemed to only allow the sound of one's own bicycle to be heard.

Just then, a car suddenly turned out from in front. Because the road wasn't wide and there was no guardrail in the middle, Xu Keke already sensed something was wrong as the car drove towards her. The car's headlights were so bright that she couldn't even open her eyes.

Xu Keke knew something was wrong, so she quickly swerved the handlebars, veering the bike straight toward the sidewalk. Unable to see the road clearly, she fell to the ground.

Seeing that she dodged, the car slowed down, reversed, and adjusted its direction, seemingly about to rush towards her again.

Just at that critical moment, another car suddenly appeared from behind, heading straight for the car in front. It seemed they were about to collide.

Just as he was about to hit Xu Keke's car again, he saw another car coming. He was already a little panicked, and then he saw that the car coming from the opposite direction was heading straight for him. He was so scared that he quickly reversed, then turned around and drove away.

Fortunately, the car that sped up behind didn't seem to be giving chase. It stopped next to Xu Keke. The door opened, and Fang San jumped out, quickly running to Xu Keke's side.

"How are you? Where are you hurt?" Fang San asked, lifting the bicycle in front of him aside with one hand.

Xu Keke, her face covered in cold sweat from the pain, didn't even have time to think about why Fang San was there. "My arm, my arm hurts."

"Besides your arm, where else does it hurt?" Fang San reached out and picked Xu Keke up, anxiously looking down at her, as if afraid of missing something.

"My whole body aches, it hurts so much!" Xu Keke blurted out, her voice full of grievance.

Fang San was taken aback; he hadn't expected Xu Keke to act so coquettishly towards him. Xu Keke was also surprised by her own instinctive reaction. She hurriedly shut her mouth. Both of them fell silent.

Fang San placed Xu Keke on the back seat. His eyes were lowered, and Xu Keke could not see the expression in his eyes or guess what he was thinking.

Throughout the journey, Xu Keke endured the pain, while Fang San focused on driving. Neither of them spoke.

Fang San didn't ask any questions and drove straight there to the nearest affiliated hospital.

Fang Minghui was startled to see Xu Keke being carried into the emergency room by Fang San. He quickly went forward to examine her, and after a series of examinations...

Fang Minghui glanced at Fang San with a puzzled look, then looked at Xu Keke, "She only hurt her arm, I thought her leg was broken."

Fang San didn't understand, and Xu Keke blushed instantly, like a child whose lie had been exposed.

Seeing that Fang San still looked confused, Fang Minghui ignored Xu Keke's threatening gaze and bluntly said, "She can walk in by herself. Why does she need someone to carry her?"

"No, she's in pain all over. Although she's not injured, she's in pain," Fang San explained earnestly to Fang Minghui.

Xu Keke, standing to the side, glared smugly at Fang Minghui. "Little brat, you got roasted now."

Besides, it's my sister's problem. I wasn't in as much pain as I was at the beginning, but this guy didn't even ask. He parked the car, opened the door, and immediately carried me in a princess carry. How can I blame myself for that?

Fang Minghui glanced at Fang San, practically saying, "Dude, you're no good, you got swindled like that." He shook his head and wrote out the invoice.

Fang Minghui asked Xu Keke to get an X-ray. Fang San wanted to hug her, but Xu Keke, who had already been exposed, was too embarrassed to do so. She gave him an awkward smile and obediently got off the bed.

Fang San lowered his head, took the form from Fang Minghui, and walked to the door first, his meaning clear: he wanted to accompany her.

Xu Keke smiled slightly and instructed Fang Minghui, "Call home for me, but don't scare them."

They told her not to be scared, and when Xu Keke returned to the emergency room from the radiology department, Lin Munan and Du Junsheng had already arrived.

Because the film wouldn't be ready for pickup until later, Du Junsheng personally examined Xu Keke.

"Luckily you're young and didn't use your wrist to support yourself. There shouldn't be any problem. We'll take a look after the X-ray, and then we can put a cast on it to immobilize it. It'll heal as it grows."

When asked about the situation, Xu Keke was initially hesitant to go into too much detail, fearing it might frighten them. However, she recalled that in her past life, Lin Munan and Du Junsheng had died in a car accident. They had both fallen into a ditch under construction and perished while riding their bicycles home from work at night.
