In winter, the sun rises high and its warm rays fall on the snow-capped mountains, casting golden light on them. Two figures are reflected in the sunlight, a man and a horse, their postures quite intimate.
Bai Lingxi sat in Zhou Jin's lap, her eyes tightly closed, and she kept making noises: "Aren't we there yet? Why aren't we there yet? How much longer?"
A soft, sweet voice kept ringing in Zhou Jin's ears, chirping and hopping like little sparrows gathering in the yard at dawn.
Zhou Jin hates noise, but at this moment, listening to the constant sounds around her, she doesn't feel annoyed at all; in fact, she enjoys it.
"Scared?" Zhou Jin leaned closer, tightening his embrace around Bai Lingxi, but carefully using the strength so as not to hurt her.
"No way!" Bai Lingxi retorted hastily. After all, she was the most stubborn person in the world, and she wouldn't admit to being wrong even if it was her fault.
Zhou Jin teased her on purpose and let go of her hand. Sure enough, she couldn't feel Zhou Jin's protection anymore. Bai Lingxi couldn't sit still on the horse at all and screamed in fright. She turned her head and buried her head in Zhou Jin's shoulder.
"Zhou Jin, you, ah—" Bai Lingxi was furious. How could there be such a wicked person! How despicable!!!
"Hahaha." A clear laugh came from Zhou Jin's mouth, and the vibration of his chest annoyed Bai Lingxi, who stretched out her small hand and punched Zhou Jin's chest hard.
With her playful laughter, angry outbursts, and coquettish quirks, Bai Lingxi possessed a captivating beauty and a vibrant soul, seemingly radiating an aura that made her impossible to look away from.
Zhou Jin was so engrossed in watching that, without realizing it, the distance between the two grew closer and closer, and they could clearly hear each other's breathing.
The faint fragrance emanating from Bai Lingxi was constantly tempting Zhou Jin, and his gaze gradually became deep and dark as he stared intently at Bai Lingxi's lips.
Finally, as if drawn together by a soul, Zhou Jin lowered his head and kissed Bai Lingxi on the lips. The horse seemed to know the intimacy between its masters and steadily carried the two of them down the mountain.
A gentle breeze brushed past Bai Lingxi's ear, ruffling their intertwined hair. Only then did Bai Lingxi recover from her dazed state and begin to breathe heavily.
"Xi'er~" Zhou Jin's breath was hot, and his voice was a little hoarse. He whispered his desire as they rubbed against each other.
"Focus on riding your horse, you big bad guy, you're always taking advantage of me!" If it weren't for Zhou Jin's handsome looks, Bai Lingxi would have slapped him long ago.
This kiss actually made Bai Lingxi feel embarrassed. After all, she had vowed to escape this place, but now she was entangled with the culprit. What a sin!
Because of that kiss, Bai Lingxi didn't say a word for the rest of the journey.
The silence made Zhou Jin feel at a loss. He tried to start a conversation several times, but Bai Lingxi stopped him with a soft snort.
Zhou Jin was helpless. He knew he had upset Xi'er, and all his attempts to make amends were in vain. She simply ignored him.
Finally, a thought popped into Zhou Jin's mind. He glanced at his beloved horse and thought, "It's all up to you now!"
The next moment, he squeezed his legs together, and the horse, propelled by the momentum, galloped up quickly. On the mountain path, a tall horse raced at breakneck speed.
The receding scenery, the treacherous mountain path, and the biting cold wind all reminded Bai Lingxi that she was in great danger!
An alarm went off in Bai Lingxi's mind, and in an instant, various horrific scenes of people falling to their deaths flashed through her mind.
"Ah—Zhou Jin! Stop it quickly!" Bai Lingxi tried to pull on the reins, but her strength was very weak, almost nonexistent, and she couldn't hold on at all.
She was scared, and the cold wind stung her face, so she could only bury her head in Zhou Jin's neck.
Zhou Jin controlled the reins, and the horse gradually calmed down and slowed down. Feeling the warmth of the person in his arms, he was reluctant to leave.
Actually, we're quite close to the market. If Bai Lingxi peeked out and listened carefully, she would know we're almost there.
Unfortunately, she was too frightened. What she had just witnessed was no different from falling off a cliff. It was too dangerous, causing her to linger like a fledgling bird, unwilling to leave the embrace of the adult bird.
"Alright, we're here." Even though Zhou Jin was reluctant to leave, she had to wake the person up once they arrived at their destination.
Otherwise, in this relatively closed-off place, with people coming and going in the market, if they saw them doing something "immoral," they would probably drown them with their spit.
"Xi'er?"
"Xi'er, we've arrived!" Zhou Jin's nerves tensed up instantly, only then realizing that she had caused trouble.
He carefully lifted Bai Lingxi's head and, sure enough, saw a small face covered in tears. The girl's lips were tightly pursed, and the corners of her eyes were red. It was obvious that she had been crying her eyes out.
"Xi'er, I was wrong. I shouldn't have scared you like that." Zhou Jin drove his horse to a secluded spot, blocking the gazes of those people.
Bai Lingxi's eyes were red, and her big almond-shaped eyes no longer held the joy they had just shown, which broke Zhou Jin's heart.
"You just scared me!" Bai Lingxi's tearful voice rang in Zhou Jin's ears, making Zhou Jin feel extremely guilty.
"It's my fault, I scared Xi'er just now. Why don't you hit me today!" Zhou Jin put his arm around Bai Lingxi. The once high and mighty emperor had learned to bow his head for the sake of his beloved.
"I'd be afraid of hurting my hand if I hit you!" Bai Lingxi stretched her neck proudly, her slender, snowy neck held high, sobbing as she spoke, looking both annoyed and amused!
Zhou Jin kept coaxing the other person in a low voice, and finally managed to coax her off the horse. Before she could walk a few steps, Bai Lingxi disappeared into the crowd like a nimble fish.
That's right, the crying just now was part of Bai Lingxi's plan. She was indeed scared and cried at first, but later, when she got to the market, she only thought about how to escape.
Zhou Jin's face darkened, and her heart sank deeper and deeper until it hit rock bottom.
One of the guards flew down and stood beside Zhou Jin: "Master, Lord Shadow has already gone after them. Do you think we should go together?"
Zhou Jin's face was extremely ugly. He wondered if he had been too lenient, giving her chances time and time again, only to have her push him away each time.
She personally gave the dagger to her beloved, but as fate turned, she used it to stab him in the heart.
The blade that wounded him was a gift from his own hand—how ironic!
"Walk!"
Zhou Jin followed, thinking that this time, he absolutely couldn't spoil that little girl anymore!
Should it be locked up or closed?
