"Your Majesty, please reconsider!"
"Um?"
Yin Changling was really annoyed by those ministers who couldn't understand human language. He didn't mind them, so why was this old man dawdling around?
The tyrant lived up to his name; his aura was terrifying enough.
Yin Changling disliked being disobeyed, so his face grew increasingly dark, vaguely resembling the rage before a murder, which shocked the witch doctor.
Finally, the witch doctor could not withstand the pressure and knelt on the ground, large beads of sweat dripping from his forehead.
He gritted his teeth and finally agreed, determined to do his best to accomplish the task.
"Yes, I should do everything in my power to protect your life, but if you truly meet with misfortune, I—"
"It's alright, I will protect you, as long as you don't collude with other forces."
Yin Changling's last sentence was quite profound, enough to make the witch doctor tremble and break out in a cold sweat.
Yin Changling was not afraid of death, but he was afraid of dying an unclear death. He wanted to leave his kingdom to his little princess and not let others covet it.
The witch doctor understood; he could indeed do some tricks, but he feared that not only would he die, but his entire family would also be implicated.
A tyrant's mind is unfathomable. If you do something wrong, even if you are not exposed on the spot, you will be killed by the tyrant's backup plan later.
In just a few moments, the witch doctor had considered all the consequences; he wouldn't do anything to dig his own grave.
"Yes, Your Majesty, I will certainly do my utmost to serve you."
Yin Changling nodded and waved him away. Then, he looked at Tu Shan Lingxi, who was still stunned.
This time, his gaze softened again, and his terrifying aura vanished.
"What are you thinking about? You can finally save Wan Qijin. You should feel much relieved and happy."
As Yin Changling spoke, he placed his large hand over Tu Shan Lingxi's head and gently rubbed it.
This action finally elicited a reaction from Tu Shan Lingxi. However, she stared blankly at Yin Changling, looking like a silly fox, so cute that one wanted to kiss her.
"Why...why did you help me?"
Tu Shan Lingxi seemed a little dazed. Her bright black eyes were somewhat lost in thought, as if veiled by something, making it difficult to see clearly.
She knew Yin Changling. Didn't Yin Changling always hate Wan Qijin the most? How could he be willing to risk his own life to save him?
Yin Changling took Tu Shan Lingxi's little hand and saw that she didn't struggle or resist, so he knew that she was frightened by his actions.
He sighed softly, then pulled her into his arms, cupping Tu Shan Lingxi's small face as he spoke.
"I am not as great as you imagine. I did all this for you."
"You knew you were going to die?"
Tu Shan Lingxi asked the question in a daze. Looking at the magnified handsome face in front of her, she felt a little sad for some reason.
Yin Changling wasn't so pessimistic. He had survived the battlefield and even lived in a wolf den when he was a child. How could he die so easily?
"Hmm, I might survive too. If I do, will you agree to be my queen?"
After Yin Changling finished speaking, he stared intently into Tu Shanlingxi's eyes, hoping that she would not refuse.
This is his last gamble. If he fails this time, his remaining life will be no different from death.
He might as well die this time; at least he could leave a trace in Xi'er's heart.
