Cining Palace.
"Empress Dowager, the Emperor is now bewitched by my seductive niece. I must be on guard!" Consort Yi cried, her face streaked with tears, which gave the Empress Dowager a headache.
"Enough! Noble Consort Yi, the women of the Bai family are truly well-mannered, each one more seductive than the last. Listen to me, if you don't shut up, you're not coming out again." The Empress Dowager finally had a chance to vent her anger and felt a sense of relief.
"Your Majesty, Consort Yi didn't do it on purpose. She was frightened by the Emperor. Besides, a small act of impatience can ruin a big plan. Think about what we can easily obtain in the future, so let's just bear with it this time." After all, the Empress is the Empress, and she still has the necessary calculations.
"How is the delivery going?" The Empress Dowager asked, looking at Consort Yi, after calming down a bit.
"Your Majesty, I gave birth two days ago. I believe she will be able to serve us in a few days." Consort Yi seemed to remember something, and a chilling smile crept onto her face.
"You're finally of some use." The Empress Dowager glanced at her.
"I am quite curious. How could you, as her own aunt, be so ruthless? Even tigers don't eat their cubs. It seems that Consort Yi has long harbored resentment towards the family!" The Empress Dowager was truly curious as to why Consort Yi would harm her niece in this way.
"Your Majesty, I have unspeakable difficulties, all for the sake of our grand plan." Consort Yi would not be so honest; she was meticulous and would not let anyone spy on her.
Seeing that the two were outwardly friendly but inwardly at odds, the Empress could only try to smooth things over for Consort Yi: "Mother, who cares what she does? If you can use this person to get rid of that one, you can hold great power. These trivial matters are not worth your attention."
"Enough, enough. It's just that I don't like people making underhanded moves behind my back. Otherwise, you know what I'm capable of." The Empress Dowager waved her hand, dismissing the two of them. "From now on, you two should reflect on your mistakes behind closed doors, but you must be vigilant and discerning in private, lest you jeopardize important matters."
"Your Majesty, I take my leave."
"Your subject takes his leave."
Consort Yi and the Empress walked together on the palace road, followed by a group of people at a distance. The two of them chatted as if it were normal, their tone was soft and gentle.
"Consort Yi, what do you think of today's events?" the Empress asked calmly.
"Your Majesty, shouldn't it be this concubine who asks you this question?" Consort Yi said sarcastically, "Why did you have to make a scene today?"
"I don't know why, but seeing Consort Rong's vibrant appearance, I felt an urge to destroy her." The Empress's tone was tinged with sadness.
"You don't need to pretend anymore. I know what you're thinking. You probably hate that she was able to win her heart." The Empress guessed correctly. No one can bear the thought that the person they truly love isn't themselves.
"Your Majesty is joking." Consort Yi denied it, but a slight pain shot through her heart. Yes, she hated it.
"Consort Yi, I still have to advise you: what you do today will happen tomorrow. Don't regret it later." After saying this, the Empress took the lead and left Consort Yi far behind.
"Do I still have a chance to regret it now?" Consort Yi murmured. She had long since lost the chance to regret it. Her hands were stained with blood, the blood of the guilty and the blood of the innocent. She had no way back.
"Your Highness, that's the Seventh Prince." A palace maid reminded her, pulling her out of her thoughts. When Consort Yi looked up, she saw a man in red robes with long hair.
"Your Highness, Consort Yi." The Seventh Prince called out to her.
"So it's His Highness the Seventh Prince. What brings you here?" Consort Yi's sharp eyes swept over the Seventh Prince.
