Chapter 21 Gu Sheng is here
"He was able to make that shabby company number one and easily bring Qianzhou up."
"What does he want?"
"Money?"
Cheng Xiao raised an eyebrow and fastened his seatbelt. "If he wanted money, he wouldn't hold on to someone."
He put the mosquito bite on his arm in front of Jiang Huachen.
"I wouldn't be forced to come to this godforsaken place in the middle of the night."
The car started slowly. Jiang Huachen held the steering wheel with one hand and held Cheng Xiao's hand with the other.
"Okay, we'll be at the village soon. I'll get some ointment to apply then."
Jiang Huachen's eyesight was not as good as Cheng Xiao's. He turned on the headlights and drove along the path.
The trees on both sides gradually became sparse, and slowly only one or two trees could be seen.
In their place are vast tracts of farmland.
There were few street lights in the village, so Jiang Huachen parked his car next to a house's courtyard wall.
The light was on inside, and it was the only one that hadn't rested yet.
An old lady with a cane opened the door for them, and after Jiang Huachen briefly explained the situation, she let them in.
Cheng Xiao asked in a low voice: "What did you say?"
"When traveling, if you drive slowly, there's no place to rest."
Jiang Huachen woke up Qianzhou and Jiang En and followed the old lady into the house.
The village is full of very old brick and tile houses, and people drink groundwater from wells.
The light in the room is very dim, and the light bulb flickers occasionally, probably because the wiring is poorly connected.
Although the furniture is old.
But the place is very clean and full of simple living atmosphere.
They were taken to the back room, where there was a large bunk bed that could accommodate five people, but it was covered with a layer of dust.
Jiang Huachen and the old lady expressed their gratitude.
A handsome and elegant man like him is likely to be treated preferentially. If Cheng Xiao had knocked on the door, they would not have had time to rest tonight.
"Come with me and move some quilts."
Jiang En leaned against Qian Zhou in a daze, and shook his head in refusal when he heard it.
"Let's go." Cheng Xiao pushed them both onto the stool.
Follow Jiang Huachen to get a basin, fetch water, wash the rag, and then wipe the bunk bed clean bit by bit.
The old lady went to bed early, so they tried not to make any noise.
The four of them shared three quilts for the night, in the following order:
Cheng Xiao, Jiang Huachen, Jiang En, Qian Zhou.
Jiang Huachen and Cheng Xiao shared a bed, with the quilt covering them horizontally.
The summer nights were not too cold, so I slept quite comfortably.
......Except Jiang Huachen.
The sun rose, Qianzhou turned over and continued to sleep, but it seemed like his head hit something.
He opened his eyes a crack.
I bumped into the bedside table, on which there were four bowls of porridge and two plates of side dishes.
Jiang Huachen sat on a stool and ate a steamed bun, with two huge dark circles under his eyes.
"Didn't you sleep well last night?" Qian Zhou rubbed his eyes and sat up.
Jiang Huachen nodded tiredly and motioned him to look over there.
There was only so much space on the bunk bed, and Cheng Xiao and Jiang En were sleeping soundly on his quilt from either side.
They shared Jiang Huachen's sleeping rights.
Qian Zhou rolled over and pulled a small stool over to sit next to Jiang Huachen. "Do you have noodles?"
"There are no noodles but there are steamed buns. Would you like to eat some?" Jiang Huachen took out a hot steamed bun from a small bamboo basket.
It is rolled with a little chopped green onion and five-spice powder, and tastes very fragrant.
Qianzhou saw him take all the bread and water from the car and put them on a clean ground.
There were two bottles of milk tucked into the corner.
"Can you give me a bottle?" Qian Zhou asked.
Jiang Huachen handed him a bottle directly and asked, "Do you like drinking milk in the morning?"
"Yeah." Qian Zhou nodded.
The milk was cold and there was no kettle to warm it for him.
Qian Zhou tilted his head back and took two sips. There was still half of the liquid left in the plastic bottle. This was not the kind that Gu Sheng bought for him.
I can't finish it in two sips.
The curtains of the old tile-roofed house let in light, and half of Qianzhou's face was exposed to the sun.
He narrowed his eyes, put the steamed buns back into the small bamboo basket, and showed a rare loss of appetite.
"When are we leaving?" Qian Zhou asked.
Jiang Huachen rubbed his brows and said, "Let's go..."
We still don’t know where Gu Sheng is, nor do we know what he is thinking now.
The possibility of being intercepted by him cannot be ruled out.
Cheng Xiao confirmed that when he brought Qian Zhou back, he was not captured by the surveillance camera and was not seen by anyone.
It was a foolproof action.
How did Gu Sheng know the location?
Jiang Huachen's original idea was to send the person back safely after Gu Sheng compromised.
He had no intention of doing anything to Qian Zhou.
But Gu Sheng made the matter worse and it became very troublesome.
Jiang Huachen had fought with Gu Sheng before and knew that he was ruthless and decisive.
Although they had taken precautions in advance, they did not expect Gu Sheng to make such a big fuss.
Jiang Huachen's gaze shifted to Qian Zhou, with a hint of inquiry in his eyes.
Gu Sheng actually regarded Qian Zhou as his own property.
Or...really care about and really like it?
Jiang Huachen recalled the look in Gu Sheng's eyes when he looked at Qian Zhou that day. It was filled with a strong possessiveness, mixed with emotions he had never seen in Gu Sheng's eyes before.
At this time, several dog barkings were heard outside the courtyard wall, and Jiang Huachen looked in that direction.
He looked away after a few seconds, not paying much attention.
After all, it is in the countryside, and it is not uncommon to hear the sounds of animals occasionally.
Boom boom boom——
The old lady was standing outside the door, carrying a bamboo basket on her back. She asked softly, "Are you up?"
Jiang Huachen put down what he was holding, stood up and walked over to him. His voice was as gentle as jade, with a hint of apology.
"Not yet, what's wrong?"
The old lady nodded, her voice soft and aged. "Nothing much. Today is Thursday, corn harvesting day. I'll be back later. If you want to eat, go next door."
"I've already said hello to the one with the red iron gate."
"Okay, thank you."
Jiang Huachen was very well-mannered and watched her leave.
Just as I was about to close the door, I heard another burst of dog barking outside.
“…It’s so noisy.”
Cheng Xiao climbed out of bed, grabbing his hair impatiently.
Jiang Huachen hugged him soothingly and said, "Get up and pack up. We'll set off soon."
After about half an hour, the group finished cleaning up and folded the quilt on the bed. Jiang Huachen left some cash on the table.
Press it with a box to prevent it from blowing away.
Qianzhou was the first one to walk out of the yard. The people in the village were probably busy, and there was no one on the roadside.
It was so quiet around that Cheng Xiao frowned unconsciously.
Qianzhou soon discovered something strange.
Every household had their doors closed. A gust of wind blew by, and the village was even quieter than last night.
This is so weird.
Qian Zhou suddenly stopped moving, turned around and asked Jiang Huachen, "What day is today?"
Jiang Huachen glanced at his phone and replied, "Thursday."
Today is Thursday!
Qian Zhou suddenly felt something was wrong, and another image of Gu Sheng appeared in his mind.
With a clang, the shovel leaning against the door slipped down.
Cheng Xiao tightly grasped Jiang En's arm, exchanged glances with Jiang Huachen, and slowly stepped back with a vigilant look.
When he wanted to grab Qianzhou's arm again, he suddenly felt the cold muzzle of a gun pressed against his lower back.
"Did you sleep well last night?"
Gu Sheng slowly walked out of the yard, his eyes looking as if he was looking at a group of dead people.
His condition was horrible, like a demon crawling out of hell.
No one doubted that he might actually shoot at the next second.
Completely reckless!
"Gu——"
Qian Zhou subconsciously walked towards him, but was grabbed by Jiang Huachen's wrist. He said in a serious tone:
"Don't go over there"
Gu Sheng lowered his eyes and glanced at Jiang Huachen's hand touching Qian Zhou, his eyes full of bloodshot.
He looked at Qianzhou and said:
"It seems like you're having a great time with them and don't need my help at all."
