Chapter 495: Exchange of Identity 1
Everyone in the monitoring room could smell the tension between the two through the screen, and it was clear that Lianyi had the upper hand.
Tong Wanwan looked at the surveillance footage, pursed her lips, and took advantage of the gap between the two people's conversation to explain:
"Lianyi is clearly provoking me, but Yunyi doesn't seem to be aware of the situation. She is also a little angry, but she is holding back. From the changes in Yunyi's expression, I can't tell whether she is lying or not. I don't have enough evidence to make a judgment."
"It's okay. We have plenty of time. Just keep observing."
Wan Liang sat in front of the chair with his arms folded and said calmly.
"Yes, Chief."
In the room, Lianyi looked at the other person's dark eyes, a hint of disappointment flashed across her eyes, and then she said:
"You've been an undercover agent for eight years. You should know better than me that there are certain bottom lines that cannot be crossed. Temptations are everywhere and at all times. When you decide to stay out of it and let the Special Crime Investigation Department clean up the mess for you, you have already pushed yourself to a point of no return."
"I don't!"
Yun Yi suddenly slammed the table, stood up, and vehemently denied Lian Yi's words.
Lianyi looked at the other person calmly and kicked the table directly. She controlled the force so that the table only hit Yunyi's thigh, causing her to fall back into the chair.
"Don't be impulsive. Everyone can see your every move, and reason does not lie in the loudness of your voice."
Lianyi said calmly while crossing her legs.
After Yun Yi fell back into the chair, the look in her eyes when she looked at Lianyi finally changed. She seemed to realize that the other party was stronger than she had imagined.
Tong Wanwan, who was in another room, looked at the time in the upper right corner of the surveillance screen, counted five numbers silently in her mind, and then heard the sound of the alarm.
"It's the fire alarm!"
"What's going on?"
"Arrange someone to check it out!"
Wan Liang said immediately.
"yes!"
Someone immediately pushed the door open.
The four lions who were originally guarding the door of Ripple's room also turned their attention here.
"Two of you come with me to check the situation."
The man immediately waved to the lion.
"Xuan Si and I will go, you two stay."
The lion gave a warning and followed the man out of the door.
Tong Wanwan, who was in another room, pointed at the surveillance screen and said:
"Section Chief, look! This picture is wrong!"
Everyone immediately drew their attention back to what was distracted by the alarm and when they looked at the surveillance footage, they also discovered something was wrong because it was too obvious.
In the picture, the two people seemed to have heard the alarm, and then stood up one after the other, looking towards the door, and the picture froze at this moment.
With a "puff", sparks suddenly appeared in the line connecting the room to the surveillance camera, causing a short circuit. All the surveillance screens went black instantly, and the images were completely lost.
"Quick! Go check next door!"
Wan Liang reacted quickly. He spoke immediately and ran out of the room first. Tong Wanwan's eyes flashed and she ran out right after him.
But when everyone went over, they found that the person who was supposed to be guarding the door was gone.
Wan Liang walked forward and pushed the door twice but it didn't open. The door seemed to be locked from the inside. He started knocking on the door, but still no response.
Tong Wanwan shouted outside:
"Sister Lianyi, are you all okay? Open the door!"
But there was no response from the room. In this situation, Wan Liang began to bang the door with his shoulder. Along with the sound of them banging on the door, there was also the sound of alarm bells.
"Brother Wan, this building is on fire, and it started from this room. We've called 119, and the fire truck is on the way. We also need to evacuate people from other rooms. Can you please help us?"
The man who came running over said immediately.
At this time, everyone had already smelled a burning smell, and smoke was coming out from the crack of the door of the room.
"Chief, what should we do?"
Tong Wanwan asked with a trembling voice.
"Keep banging on the door! Get the people out. Evacuate the rest of the people in this building first."
Wan Liang said while gritting his teeth.
Then he ran to the fire cabinet in the aisle where fire extinguishers were stored, picked up a fire extinguisher, rushed back, and smashed the door handle hard.
After seeing this, Tong Wanwan followed suit, picked up another fire extinguisher, and worked with Wan Liang to smash the door lock.
At this time, the people in the two-story villa had already left one after another. Everyone was standing outside, watching a room on the second floor being engulfed by flames, which were spreading to the surroundings little by little.
There was no one on the second floor anymore. Thick black smoke was filling the entire corridor. Only three people from the Investigation Department were still banging on the door.
After a "bang", the door lock was finally broken. Wan Liang raised his hand to pull out the door lock, reached in to open the door, and then the three people rushed into the room, covering their mouths and noses.
Three walls of the room were engulfed in flames. Everyone only saw the person who was pressed under the table, while another person had been engulfed by the flames, leaving only the upper body. The other person was wearing a white convalescent suit and should be imprisoned here.
"Quick! Save Lianyi first!"
Wan Liang rushed forward, covering his mouth and nose, kicked the table away, and dragged out Lianyi who had fallen into coma.
"Section Chief, what should we do with Yun Yi?"
Tong Wanwan tried to lower her body as much as possible, covering her mouth and nose with one hand, and trying to pull Yun Yi, who had no reaction, with the other hand. Unfortunately, the next moment the fluorescent light from the ceiling fell down and hit her right in front of her, scratching her hand and separating her from Yun Yi.
“Woo!”
Tong Wanwan cried out in pain and then started coughing violently, apparently choking on the smoke.
"You don't want to live anymore, leave first!"
Wan Liang roared, carried Lianyi on his back, grabbed Tong Wanwan, and rushed out of the room with another companion using a fire extinguisher to clear the way, jogging away from the building.
"This way! This way!"
There was a doctor in the sanatorium. Someone came over with a stretcher. Wan Liang placed the unconscious Lian Yi on the stretcher and said to Tong Wanwan:
"Stay with Lianyi and bandage your wounds. I'll see if I can salvage some of the equipment."
"Chief, don't be so stubborn. The fire has spread to our room."
Tong Wanwan pointed to where the fire was the biggest and said.
"I'll go and take a look."
Wan Liang did not give up. He finally took a wet handkerchief from someone else, covered his mouth and nose with it, and rushed back into the building.
Tong Wanwan followed the stretcher to the infirmary of the sanatorium while talking on her cell phone.
Shortly after she left, the fire truck arrived and the fire was put out half an hour later. However, because there was a charred body at the scene, the police eventually intervened in the investigation.
In the end, Wan Liang was unable to rescue anything and went to the infirmary of the sanatorium with a gloomy face. As the only survivor at the fire point, Lianyi obviously became the focus of everyone's attention.
Seeing that the four lions were guarding the door of the infirmary, Wan Liang walked over and asked in a low voice:
"Weren't you supposed to be guarding the door when the accident happened? Why weren't you four there when I went over there?"
"The lion helped evacuate people, and the two of us spotted a suspected arsonist and chased after him."
Gong Fan explained in a deep voice.
