Chapter 98: Defeat the scheming boy and tease the sultry general (8)
Chu Heng's heart trembled, and for a moment he couldn't tell whether Li Ziyan was lamenting that he couldn't appreciate the beautiful scenery earlier, or lamenting that he couldn't grow up with him.
Such ambiguous words were enough to make this general, who was inexperienced in love affairs, fall into a misunderstanding of "panic". Chu Heng opened his mouth but did not say anything in the end.
The environment in ancient times had not been damaged too much. It was surrounded by green trees, and the lake was filled with the clear fragrance of grass and water vapor, which made people feel relaxed and comfortable.
Li Ziyan and Chu Heng sat by the window frame, chatting from time to time, and the atmosphere was exceptionally harmonious.
"Huanzhi, can I call you that?"
"Of course." Chu Heng nodded. Characters were originally used by people of the same age to address each other, so he naturally didn't mind.
"I grew up in the Prince's Court when I was young. Because of my body, I didn't have many friends. If Huanzhi doesn't mind, would you be willing to tell me about your childhood?"
Li Ziyan's eyes were filled with longing. Although he tried to keep his tone calm, the anticipation in his eyes was almost overflowing. Chu Heng was distracted and nodded.
The two masters were talking, and the servants naturally could not interrupt them. Caiwei put the black plum soup made in the small kitchen last night aside, put some tea there, and retreated to the outside of the cabin.
Chu Heng learned martial arts from his family elders when he was young. After starting his education at the age of five or six, he went to a private school with other young masters from prominent families. When he was older, he studied military tactics with his father and grandfather. At the age of fourteen, he went to the battlefield.
He had experienced the vastness of the desert in the west and the lush green scenery in the southwest. The war only gradually subsided after the late emperor abdicated and their Chu family protected Li Zihan and ascended the throne.
Chu Heng was a military commander, and though he had read a great deal, his recounting of his experiences was not particularly flowery, easily drawing people in. Li Ziyan felt as if he had been transported to the ever-changing battlefield with Chu Heng, experiencing the different landscapes as he went out on the expedition.
The two of them talked while the other listened. Li Ziyan occasionally asked a few questions and said a few words, quite insightful, which made Chu Heng feel a rare sense of relief. It had been a long time since he had met someone who could understand his feelings so well.
The temperature on the lake was just right, and there was often a breeze. The two of them talked and forgot about time, and only stopped when Caiwei came in and prepared lunch for them.
I don’t know if it’s because of the scenery here or because the two of them had a great chat, but Li Ziyan had a particularly good appetite today and ate a little more than before, but he still couldn’t compare to Chu Heng.
After eating and drinking, people will feel sleepy. Li Ziyan and Chu Heng sat on the deck together looking at the scenery outside the window. Slowly, Chu Heng felt his shoulders sink, and when he turned around, he saw a handsome face with closed eyes and steady breathing.
The breeze lifted Li Ziyan's hair and blew it onto his face. Li Ziyan frowned, probably feeling a little uncomfortable. Chu Heng was stunned for a moment, then reached out to gather Li Ziyan's hair. The other party moved, nestled in the crook of Chu Heng's neck, and didn't move anymore.
Some warm breath fell on the sensitive neck, causing a shudder in the skin that was more delicate and sensitive than other parts of the body.
Chu Heng didn't dare to move. Even when he went to quell the rebellion, he had never been so nervous.
"Prince?" Caiwei's voice sounded beside him. Chu Heng looked over, but did not dare to move too much. He frowned slightly and made a silent gesture with his mouth.
Caiwei also noticed that her prince had fallen asleep, so she naturally didn't dare to make a sound.
When Li Ziyan's body slid down, Chu Heng moved quickly, reached out and held Li Ziyan's face, preventing Li Ziyan from waking up.
He adjusted his position and paused for a moment, but still put his hands on Li Ziyan's legs and picked him up sideways.
Caiwei had asked Yunle to prepare thin bedding in the room. After Chu Heng came in, he gently placed Li Ziyan on the bed. He turned his back to Caiwei, blocking most of their view.
Li Ziyan closed his eyes, his expression peaceful, with a faint smile on his lips, which was particularly attractive. Chu Heng felt his heart start to beat fast again. He reached out and touched Li Ziyan's cheek while combing her hair.
The soft touch made Chu Heng's heart tremble, and he quickly withdrew his hand and stepped back.
"Tell the boatman to turn back."
"Yes, General." Caiwei bowed and went out, leaving Yunle standing by.
"Did Your Majesty sleep late yesterday?"
Yun Le shook his head. "It's not that late actually. The prince is not in good health and gets tired easily. He went to bed early yesterday. But because he is excited about today's outing, he got up a little early."
Excited about the trip, like a little child, a hint of smile appeared in Chu Heng's usually steady and dull eyes. He didn't expect that a prince could be so naive and innocent.
He looked back at the person lying on the bed and shook his head helplessly. No wonder the emperor was so tolerant and doting on him. He was willing to be close to him. It would be difficult to dislike such a person.
Li Ziyan didn't sleep for too long. Chu Heng was afraid that he would have trouble falling asleep at night after taking a long nap, so he woke him up. This was the first time Chu Heng saw Li Ziyan so soft and tender, unlike his usual steady and noble appearance. Li Ziyan's eyes were confused and hazy, and he rested his head on Chu Heng's hand for a long time, making Chu Heng's palms feel hot. The pleasant aroma of tea once again rushed into Chu Heng's nose, making him a little addicted.
"Sorry, Huanzhi, I didn't mean to sleep..." Perhaps because he felt that it was a bit impolite to fall asleep suddenly, Li Ziyan's face flushed and his tone was guilty, which was quite cute.
Chu Heng shook his head. "Your Highness is overthinking. Your Highness is a daughter, you should always be careful."
"Thank you so much for today," Li Ziyan said, his brows lowered, a smile on his lips. This smile was more obvious and softer than any other time before. "I haven't felt this relaxed and happy in a long time."
No one would be hard-hearted by such a scene, not even Chu Heng, who had experienced so many life and death situations.
Feeling heartbroken, Chu Heng clenched his fists at his sides and exhaled the foul air from his chest.
"Your Highness, if you don't mind me, I will take you out for some fun these few days."
"Really? Ahem, ahem."
"Of course. How could I lie to Your Highness?" Chu Heng reached out and stroked Li Ziyan's back, his voice low, "Your Highness, please rest for a while in the mansion tomorrow. The day after tomorrow, I will take Your Highness to the training ground, okay?"
Li Ziyan's eyes lit up and he nodded repeatedly, "Okay!"
