Chapter 22 President, You Can't Eat That Second Male Lead 21

Xi Junyan lived with Yi Mu for half a year and knew his personality very well; he never wanted to be taken advantage of.

He believed what Yimu said, and not long after, he got into trouble.

The filming of the TV series is nearing its end, and the second male lead, who has been acting out of line throughout, is causing trouble again, wanting to add a scene at the end where he has a heart-wrenching romance with the female lead.

However, he already has enough screen time, and the character's personality simply doesn't allow him to be all lovey-dovey with the female lead.

Yi Mu has a perfectionist personality; since he took on this job, he wants to do his best.

He couldn't allow the character he wrote to resemble a schizophrenic psychopath, so he refused the offer to play the second male lead.

The second male lead picked a fight with Yi Mu in March, but Yi Mu remained calm and indifferent, like a glass of lukewarm water, making it impossible for him to find a fault to attack.

Originally, it was thought that Yi Mu couldn't be touched before leaving the crew, but unexpectedly, he stood up for himself at the last moment, and the second male lead finally found an opportunity.

The second male lead was brought in by the investors of the production team. He had very strong connections, and even the director had to give him some leeway on set. He could basically do whatever he wanted.

Yi Mu was at an impasse with the second male lead, and the commotion alerted the director.

The director stepped in to smooth things over: "Xiao Yi, you'll have to work a little harder and revise the script again. We'll all go out for dinner tonight, it's on me."

Most of the time, Yi Mu is not the kind of person who likes to get stuck on things, but if he insists on something, he will not easily waver.

He pushed up his black-rimmed glasses and said in a calm voice, "Director, the script can't be changed anymore, otherwise the plot will fall apart and the ending won't be able to be salvaged."

The director, unwilling to offend the boss behind the second male lead, frowned and said, "You're the screenwriter, what can't you change? It's settled then."

The director issued an ultimatum and dragged his overweight body back. The script staff who had been watching, seeing that there was no excitement to be had, dispersed in boredom.

Yi Mu raised his voice slightly and said, word by word, "I will not change a single word of the script."

The director stopped, and the second male lead gave a sarcastic "Oh!": "Look how much backbone our screenwriter has. The drama is almost over. We can have another screenwriter finish the rest of the story."

The director, embarrassed in front of everyone, sneered: "Yi Mu, what do you mean? You're dragging your feet on revising the script. If you can't do it, you're fired!"

"Let's go then," Yi Mu put away his notebook and walked away.

The director gritted his teeth, thinking that Yi Mu was being shameless. He thought that Yi Mu was just a small-time screenwriter who dared to offend him, and it seemed that he didn't want to stay in the industry.

Bian Yiheng made a phone call earlier. When he came back, he looked for Yi Mu and overheard everyone's discussion. He then learned that Yi Mu had just had a conflict with the director.

He instinctively wanted to chase after him, but the second male lead stopped him by affectionately pulling his arm.

The second male lead was wearing a sharp suit, with bright red lipstick on his lips and eyeliner drawn almost to his temples. He looked neither male nor female, and was neither fish nor fowl.

But he was still feeling pretty good about himself, winking and flirting with Bian Yiheng: "Young Master Bian, your scenes might need to be changed. The director wants to come over and discuss it with you."

Bian Yiheng went with him to see the director, but didn't see Yi Mu. He asked, "Where is Yi Mu?"

The director coughed, his tone stiff: "Xiao Yi might not be up to the task, so he won't be coming to the set anymore."

Bian Yiheng had been in the industry for a while and was already familiar with its shady rules.

Yi Mu was always amiable on set and never argued with anyone, so why did he suddenly quit?

He glanced indifferently at the second male lead, who was pretending to be crazy and jokingly discussing the upcoming plot with the director.

In this glamorous circle, becoming famous is both easy and difficult. Having talent and working hard are far from enough. If you don't have anyone backing you up, anyone can crush you with a single kick.

The second male lead has no talent; his acting is so bad that even a newcomer is worse than him. But he has a powerful backer who can do a lot.

Yi Mu was just a powerless screenwriter who dared to go against the people the investors had put in; he was doomed.
