The village chief's expression was sinister, staring at Xie Tuoyu like a venomous snake.
"I address you as President Xie out of respect."
"No matter how powerful you are, if you act recklessly on my turf, even if I kill you, no one will know."
Xie Tuoyu understood the mentality of these local bullies, and had long heard about the village chief's "heroic deeds" in his youth from Sang's father.
He rose to power as a local thug, and his position as village chief was threatened by the entire village's election.
People may not necessarily trust the village chief, but they are all afraid that he is real.
But Xie Tuoyu was not a coward.
His gaze swept over the two burly men behind the village chief, his eyes filled with disdain.
"Village chief, you're really something! What, are you trying to break my arms or legs?"
The village chief sneered, "You can protect them for a while, but can you protect them for a lifetime? Xiao Lan was wronged, and I didn't say I wouldn't compensate her."
The village chief looked around the yard and smiled subtly.
"This house is over ten years old and has become a dangerous building. How about this, if you promise not to pursue this matter, I will build you a new house. If you don't want the house, I will give you cash instead."
Xie Tuoyu didn't continue speaking; he looked at Chunlan.
It was the same temptation of money again; Xie Tuoyu wanted to see how Chunlan would choose.
Chunlan took her younger brother's hand and turned around.
She originally had nothing, but since someone was there to support her, she couldn't let them down.
Money is the best thing in the world, and also the dirtiest thing.
Chunlan said, "I don't want money, I want justice."
The village chief thought he had already lowered his standards, but Chunlan was still so ungrateful, which was a slap in his face.
He raised his short, fat hand, wanting to slap Chunlan, that ungrateful bitch.
Xie Tuoyu restrained his hand and flung it aside violently.
The village chief was knocked down by the inertia and fell to the ground in a sorry state.
His two lackeys immediately objected, taking turns punching Xie Tuoyu in the face.
Yi Mu put away his phone, which had been recording, and pulled Chunlan and the child into the house.
Xie Tuoyu was also a skilled fighter when he was young. He was tall and strong, and for a time he was not at a disadvantage.
Yi Mu told Chunlan and the child to lock the door and stay inside.
He took out his phone and called Sang's father.
Yi Mu's voice was calm; he knew he couldn't panic in this situation.
"Uncle, quickly bring some people to Chunlan's house. Don't ask any questions, just come over here!"
After hanging up the phone, Yi Mu picked up a handy fire poker from the yard, seized the opportunity, and struck one of the burly men who was holding Xie Tuoyu by the neck.
That blow was quite heavy; the burly man clutched his waist, his face turning pale instantly.
Yi Mu remained expressionless, gripping the stick tightly in his hand.
The village chief stood up from the ground, took out a small knife from his pocket, and stabbed Xie Tuoyu in the lower abdomen.
As Xie Tuoyu was about to be impaled, a morbid madness flashed in the village chief's eyes, and Yi Mu slammed his hand down.
The knife fell to the ground, and the village chief clutched his arm and screamed in agony.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Sang's father was calling from outside.
The two burly men stopped and retreated behind the village chief, while Yi Mu went to open the door.
Sang's father and the villagers walked in, and faced with the mess in the yard and the village chief lying on the ground in a disheveled state, all their eyes fell on the stick in Yi Mu's hand.
Yi Mu threw away the stick and explained calmly to Sang's father, "Uncle, there's something you need to know."
He recounted the whole story, during which the village chief repeatedly told him to shut up in a fit of anger, but Yi Mu ignored him.
This was too shocking, and no one believed what Yi Mu said. Sang's father looked at Xie Tuoyu.
Xie Tuoyu wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, kicked Li Qi, and grinned under his terrified gaze: "You little brat, confess everything you've done, down to the last detail."
