Chapter 29 President, You Can't Eat That Second Male Lead 28

People who drink tea often can tell whether someone knows how to brew tea just by watching them for a while.

Looking at Yi Mu's calm profile, the old man couldn't help but think of what Xi Junyan had told him.

The brat only smiled when he mentioned his sweetheart, Ice Cube. "Grandpa, I promise you'll really like him."

The tea brewed by Yi Mu tasted even better than that of the old man. This young man was calm and composed, and his movements were very measured.

The old man put down his teacup, feeling even more satisfied.

Xi Junyan has a dinner engagement tonight and won't be coming home for dinner.

The table was covered with the old man's favorite dishes. As people get older, their sense of taste deteriorates, so the dishes prepared in the kitchen tend to be quite strong in flavor.

Yi Mu took a bite, then his tongue snapped back – it was too salty.

The old man looked over, his tone much kinder than in the afternoon: "What's wrong? Doesn't it suit your taste?"

Yi Mu smiled and nodded, picking up the bowl. "I prefer lighter flavors, it's okay, I'll eat more vegetables."

Yi Mu didn't know how long he would stay here, but if it was just a day or two of disturbance, he could just bear with it.

But it's too much to force him to eat food that doesn't suit his taste for a month or two.

A smile appeared on the old man's face. He had thought that Yi Mu would say he didn't mind in order to please him.

If he really said that, the old man would think that he was too soft-hearted, and that this balance of firmness and flexibility was quite good.

The old man called the servants and asked the kitchen to prepare two lighter dishes again.

Yi Mu had just been discharged from the hospital, and his health was the most important thing, so he didn't stand on ceremony with the old man.

After the meal, the old man asked Yi Mu to go to his study with him.

The old man asked Yi Mu to sit down, making it clear that he wanted to have a long talk.

"Junyan told me about your relationship. I was against it at first, but then I came to terms with it. Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. I think you're a good kid. You should live a good life with Junyan from now on."

Yi Mu's eye twitched. What was this all about?

Xi Junyan is such a daydreamer. What the hell is he talking about living a good life? He's a straight man. What nonsense is that bastard Xi Junyan spouting to the old man?

Just as Yi Mu was about to explain the truth, the old man took a box out of the drawer, opened it, and placed it in front of him.

“You’re a man, those fancy things don’t suit you. Just wear this watch for fun.”

Yi Mu wasn't an ignorant young man; he could tell at a glance that the watch was quite valuable, conservatively estimated to be worth over a million. He and Xi Junyan were at most friends, so he couldn't possibly accept the watch.

"Grandpa, please stop teasing me. I can't accept this watch. It's getting late, I should go back and rest."

The old man didn't say anything, just watched Yi Mu turn and leave the room, stroking his gray mustache, a smile appearing in his eyes.

He thought to himself that if Yi Mu were a girl, he would like her so much.

Yi Mu is far superior to Bai Lian, whose petty and uncouth manner is beyond compare.

At the dinner table, everyone could clearly sense that Xi Junyan was distracted.

His status is now far more prestigious than before; a single glance or gesture can lead those with a keen eye to speculate on more than ten possibilities.

"I heard that President Xi has recently taken a mistress and is treating her like a precious gem. When will he bring her out for us all to meet? I really want to know what kind of stunning beauty has President Xi so infatuated with her."

When the middleman who organized the dinner party realized there was nothing left to talk about, he cleverly brought up this erotic topic to save the day.

Generally speaking, when men get together to drink, they mainly talk about current affairs, business matters, and the rest is mostly women.
