Chapter 369 The Major General's Handsome Young Husband 29

The carriage stopped, and Yi Mu immediately jumped off, hugged a tree, bent over, and vomited profusely.

Zeng Guangzhao took out a few silver dollars to thank the driver for his hard work on the journey.

The driver thanked him and drove off.

Zeng Guangzhao walked up behind Yi Mu and asked him, "Are you alright?"

Yimu vomited up his bile, turned away with tears in his eyes, looking extremely pitiful.

“I have to take a boat back, and I can’t take the long journey.”

My bones were almost dislocated, but thankfully the driver was very skilled; despite the rugged mountain road, the car and I didn't fall off the cliff.

Zeng Guangzhao handed him a handkerchief.

"Let's wipe it clean and go do a surprise inspection to see what those greenhorns are doing at this hour."

The journey from the city to the mountains on the outskirts takes two hours, and it's already broad daylight.

After walking several hundred meters, Yi Mu and Zeng Guangzhao were surprised to see a simple military camp behind a grove of trees.

The barracks gates were tightly shut, and it was quiet inside.

Yi Mu chuckled: "Are you still fast asleep?"

Soldiers in the army usually get up at seven o'clock, wash up and eat, and after half an hour, they begin various training sessions at seven-thirty.

Here it is, taking advantage of the fact that no one is in charge, the sun is almost high in the sky and there is still no sign of anything happening.

Zeng Guangzhao pounded on the iron gate with his palm, one blow after another.

Yi Mu looked down at his watch, counting the time.

About five minutes later, someone came to open the door.

The young soldier, with his messy, unkempt hair and wearing only a t-shirt, looked utterly impatient.

I thought they were people delivering rice, flour, vegetables, and meat from down the mountain, but they turned out to be two men dressed in cloth shirts.

To avoid being stopped and questioned along the way, Yi Mu and Zeng Guangzhao dressed very discreetly.

The person who opened the door looked them up and down with a pair of bright, small eyes.

Zeng Guangzhao was tall and imposing, and his voice carried a certain authority: "What's your name?"

The temporary leader said that two people were to be sent down from above, but he didn't say what they were there for, only implying that everyone should not take it seriously.

The soldier remained silent, his hand gripping the door tightly as he secretly exerted force, trying to close it.

Zeng Guangzhao watched his expression and saw his eyes darting around, so he knew he was about to do something bad.

As soon as the door was about to close, Zeng Guangzhao kicked the soldier three meters away.

The soldier let out a scream and ran back into the barracks in a panic.

With his hands in his pockets, Yi Mu walked inside with Zeng Guangzhao.

He smiled, a hint of interest flashing in his eyes: "Looks like we're in for a tough fight right from the start."

Zeng Guangzhao scanned his surroundings with a wary expression, unsure of what these guys might do.

"If anything happens later, stay behind me and don't step forward."

Yi Mu walked in front of him, backing away as he went, his eyes full of smiles.

"You're worried about me."

Zeng Guangzhao shifted his gaze to the distance, "I'm afraid you'll be a burden to me."

As the two were talking, a group of people suddenly emerged from a house not far away.

This group of people all looked fierce and were not to be trifled with.

The leader had a scar on his left eye, a sinister appearance, and a malicious look in his eyes.

"Who do we have here? It's Commander Zeng, who suffered a defeat. I heard you're wanted by Gu Cheng all over the city. What's wrong? You've had no choice but to flee here for refuge?"

This guy looks like he's the leader.

He must have received word that Zeng Guangzhao was there for something, but he refused to say a word.

It's estimated that he had been the boss for a while and felt that Zeng Guangzhao had taken his position, so he wanted to give him a hard time.

Zeng Guangzhao has never been afraid of others stirring up trouble.

Back then, when Gu Cheng assigned him to be a platoon leader, he didn't back down when facing a group of unruly veteran soldiers.
