Chapter 43 President, You Can't Eat That Second Male Lead 42

Glug glug, the glass of water was empty. Xi Junyan glanced at him and asked, "Want some more?"

Yi Mu shook his head. He looked down and saw that the rash on his arm had gone away.

"You knew you were allergic to cigarette smoke, so why didn't you tell those people?"

Yi Mu waved his hand; his throat still hurt, and explaining would go on and on, making his throat tight.

However, it is quite strange that Nishi Junyan would appear here.

Seeing the doubt in Yi Mu's eyes, Xi Junyan explained calmly, "There's been a bit of a problem at this branch office, so I came here to oversee things."

Yi Mu responded with an "oh," and the two remained silent, the air thick with awkwardness.

The nurse came in to remove the IV and told Yimu that he didn't need to stay in bed and could go out for a walk to get some fresh air.

Yi Mu was more than happy to oblige. After the nurse left, he said to Xi Junyan, "You must have a lot of things to do at your company. I can handle things here by myself. You can go back and get busy."

Xi Junyan remained seated in his chair, while Yi Mu watched him silently.

Xi Junyan's brows furrowed slowly, a wrinkle forming between his eyebrows, his expression turning increasingly irritable.

He asked through gritted teeth, "You really believe I'm bored? If something happens at a branch office, do I, the president, need to come down here to do the work?"

Yi Mu was not that stupid; he was just playing along to prevent Xi Junyan from appearing in front of him.

"You'll get nothing from me, so don't waste your time."

Yi Mu was determined not to get too entangled with Xi Junyan, so he spoke very bluntly.

Xi Junyan closed his eyes briefly and asked expressionlessly, "What if you don't insist?"

Yi Mu looked up at him, a ripple of emotion surging in his lake-like eyes: "You want to be my enemy?"

The six months they spent together were real; Yi Mu had come to realize that Xi Junyan was not a ruthless person.

Xi Junyan is arrogant and aloof, and he looks down on many things, but he also has a soft side.

He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he would help Yi Mu with housework when he felt tired.

I would make a cup of coffee for Yimu late at night.

When Yi Mu didn't come home at night, they called to ask where he was.

Sometimes Yi Mu feels that having another person in the family gives him a sense of belonging, and the thought of having someone waiting for him when he goes home makes him feel at ease.

But he knew it wasn't love.

He can't do it, at least not at this stage; he can't accept a man.

Yi Mu's ideal love is to marry a gentle and kind wife. He doesn't care about her family background or anything else, as long as she truly loves him.

He wanted a child of his own, whether well-behaved or mischievous, it didn't matter, he and his wife would love him very much and give him everything they had.

Xi Junyan wasn't the person he wanted, so he made a swift and decisive decision.

Xi Junyan was startled by Yi Mu's cold gaze.

He had never seen such a cold emotion in Yi Mu's eyes before. It wasn't a superficial, intimidating cold, but a cold that could truly freeze a person.

It was as if with just a nod from him, the two of them would become strangers.

After that, Yimu would no longer laugh or get angry at him like before.

Yi Mu put on his shoes, walked to the door, and turned the lock. Xi Junyan said in a dry voice, "I've completed the divorce proceedings with Bai Lian. I'm single now."

Yi Mu paused for a moment, then opened the door.

"Can I pursue..." you?

The last two words were lost in the sound of the door closing.

Nishi Junyan stared blankly at the white roses on the bedside table, glistening with dew.

The florist said that the meaning of white roses is: I am worthy of you, you are the only one worthy of me.

He wanted to say that he was wrong that night, but Yi Mu didn't give him the chance.
