The empress tilted her head back and resolutely drank the tea in her cup.
Yi Mu watched her movements, his brows furrowing slightly, sensing that something was amiss.
The empress smiled at him, her makeup ruined by tears.
"Your Majesty probably doesn't know that my mother lived in Nanlin for a period of time when she was young."
Yi Mu slightly opened his eyes and looked at the cup in front of him.
He was completely unsuspecting of the Empress and drank more than half of the tea in his cup!
"What's in this tea?!" Yi Mu asked sharply.
He knocked over the water on the table, but there was no acid oozing out, so it shouldn't be poisonous.
However, the absence of poison does not mean the absence of Gu (a type of poisonous insect).
Yi Mu was almost driven to the brink of madness by the Gu poison. The Nanlin region was full of poisonous insects, making it a natural breeding ground for Gu. He couldn't help but be suspicious.
The queen's scarlet lips curled up as she poured herself another glass of water in front of Yi Mu and drank it.
"There's no poison in this water, but there are two little worms. My mother said they're called 'empathy.' If you eat them and mate for three days and three nights, the two of you will love each other wholeheartedly and stay together until you grow old."
Looking at her crazed face, Yi Mu slowly stood up.
The Empress saw the rejection on his face, lowered her head, and gave a self-deprecating laugh.
"Your Majesty, rest assured, this Gu worm will not take effect so quickly. You have one day to think. If you do not follow the rules of this worm, it will devour your mind and turn you into an idiot."
The Empress stood up and called out loudly to Yi Mu, who had reached the door, "Your Majesty surely doesn't want to become a foolish emperor, does he?"
Yi Mu remembered that He Feng was a master of Gu poison. Since she could use Gu poison, she must also be able to cure it.
He sent someone to the Prince's residence to invite He Feng to the palace.
He Feng came out of Nanlin carrying about a hundred Gu worms.
Some of them are very precious; they are the talking insects raised by our ancestors.
These insects are difficult to raise; they require special training from birth.
Placing them in important settings as eavesdropping tools often yields surprising results.
Before He Feng returned, she stuffed two [something] into the little emperor's body.
The insects arrived at the palace before the palace eunuchs, and the two insects twisted into unique poses in front of her.
Using the insect language analysis, He Feng quickly understood what the young emperor had experienced during his trip to the palace.
This is truly heaven's help for her. As long as she joins forces with the Empress, she is not afraid of being unable to deal with Yi Mu.
Sometimes a man needs a woman to succeed, and similarly, a woman can ruin a man.
He Feng went to the palace, and when faced with Yi Mu's request, she readily agreed and then went to the Empress's palace.
From that conversation, she learned all of the woman's weaknesses.
He Feng told the Empress that as long as you get the Emperor to do some intimate things with you, you can completely destroy the relationship between Bei Menlin and Yi Mu, and there will be no possibility of them getting back together for the rest of their lives.
The Empress didn't care about anything else; all she cared about was whether Yi Mu could love her for the rest of his life.
Even if that love was obtained through calculation, she didn't care.
Yi Mu waited for He Feng's antidote. The next day, the palace suddenly became lively. Upon inquiry, he learned that it was the original owner's birthday.
The young emperor's eighteenth birthday.
Bei Menlin arrived at the palace early in the morning, picked Yi Mu up from the bed, and personally combed his hair.
Because he had something on his mind, Yi Mu was very absent-minded.
Bei Menlin didn't notice anything amiss with him. He sat with him, ate a bowl of longevity noodles, and then went to court together as usual.
Today was special; after court, Bei Menlin wanted to leave the palace with Yi Mu.
The original owner was physically weak and was confined to the palace since childhood. They were afraid to go outside the palace to play, lest they bump into something or fall. Therefore, the original owner never knew what the outside world was like.
Bei Menlin knew this, so he wanted to take him out to see the excitement of the streets.
Before the two could leave, the Empress sent someone to invite them, saying that lunch was ready and inviting Yi Mu and the Regent to dine together.
