The beautiful woman stood up from the bed, turned her face, raised her eyebrows, and looked arrogant.
"What do you mean I have a fiery temper? It's clearly your son who's the problem, and your family's upbringing that's the issue. If I had known..."
Before she could finish speaking, the man slapped her hard across the face, cursing, "You filthy bitch! You really think you're so great? You've been used up by men before you married me. I married a used slut. I've been putting up with you and giving you face. Divorce! Go wherever you want!"
The woman was berated and turned pale with anger. She threw all the pillows and blankets on the bed at him.
"You poor wretch! If you hadn't married me, you'd still be getting treated like a dog by other men. You think you're so tough? Go ahead and hit me, hit me again and see what happens!"
"I'm fucking hitting you! You slut!"
"Aaaaaaah!"
The old lady looked at the scene before her helplessly. She wanted to go in and try to mediate, but she was small and in poor health. She was afraid that if she tried to mediate in the dead of winter, she might fall and suffer more harm than good.
The old lady felt uneasy and thought about going back to her room to call her husband, but she saw the tall boy who came with Yi Mu coming downstairs.
Children from the city always have a unique air about them.
When the old lady saw him coming, she instinctively moved aside.
Imu developed a high fever shortly after returning home yesterday, and has been sleeping without eating.
He couldn't sleep well and kept muttering incoherent nonsense.
His maternal grandparents said it was just a common cold, but Lu Qingyao didn't think so.
He stayed by Yi Mu's side for almost the entire night, watching as Yi Mu finally managed to fall asleep around midnight. However, after only two hours of sleep, a commotion broke out downstairs.
Lu Qingyao had no right to interfere in other people's affairs, but the noise downstairs was so loud that the people upstairs could hear it all clearly.
He was afraid that if the noise continued, Yi Mu would be woken up and get downstairs to see what was going on.
Lu Qingyao walked to the door and saw that the man and woman were already fighting, saying filthy things, and the scene was out of control.
Lu Qingyao stepped forward and separated the two.
Yi Mu's uncle was initially furious. He would have cursed both his father and mother if they tried to break up the fight. But when he saw that it was Lu Qingyao, his expression immediately turned to relief.
The woman also felt it was too embarrassing to argue in broad daylight and have outsiders see it, so she turned around and tidied her clothes and hair.
The man rubbed his hands together and apologized to Lu Qingyao, "Did we disturb Young Master Lu? It's all because of this woman..."
Lu Qingyao wasn't interested in how they argued.
This wasn't his territory after all, so his expression remained relatively calm as he said indifferently, "Yi Mu only fell asleep at two in the morning. He's a light sleeper, so please keep your voices down."
The man immediately put on a fawning smile, "Yes, yes, we'll definitely keep our voices down."
Lu Qingyao returned upstairs and found that Yi Mu had already woken up.
He walked over and touched Yi Mu's forehead; the fever had subsided.
Lu Qingyao held the poor little thing in his arms and patted his back.
"I absolutely cannot let you leave now. You talked nonsense all night yesterday and scared me."
Yi Mu quietly let him hold her, her expression dazed, her eyes filled with confusion.
It took Lu Qingyao a while to realize that something was wrong with Yi Mu. He looked down at Yi Mu's face and found that he was staring straight ahead, as if he was thinking about something.
"Silly boy, what are you thinking about?"
After a long while, Yi Mu looked up at him with a strange look in his eyes. He said, "I had a very long dream."
