Chapter 934 You are my heart and soul 10

A large group of students gathered in front of the gymnasium, and security guards were on site to maintain order.

A police car and an ambulance were parked at the entrance.

Several department leaders were talking to the police. Yi Mu rushed here from the teaching building a kilometer away without stopping for a moment. He was panting heavily and avoided the fierce-looking security guards before walking to the side of the ambulance.

Inside the car sat a woman wailing. Her hair was disheveled, she wore a protective suit, and heavy rubber gloves with a faint fishy smell emanating from them.

The accompanying doctor handed her a piece of paper and whispered words of comfort, saying that the dead cannot be brought back to life.

The body was covered with a white sheet, with only the feet showing.

Yi Mu had seen He Lele's feet before; they were small and beautiful. But now, her feet were covered in burn marks, and one of her toes was unnaturally bent.

He thought of the things his classmates had said, clenched his fists, and left quietly, just as he had come.

The next day, Yimu went to the police station to find out what was going on.

The police station was in chaos, with people mediating a dispute getting into a fight in the corridor.

The police intervened, and after asking around for a long time, someone finally paid attention to Yi Mu.

"What is your relationship to the deceased?"

Yi Mu answered truthfully: "I am He Lele's ex-boyfriend."

The policeman, who had been reviewing documents, looked up at him sharply upon hearing this.

Unsure of his reaction, Yi Mu asked, "What's wrong?"

The policeman closed the folder, told him to follow him into the office, and then looked him up and down.

Do you know how much inhuman torture the deceased endured before his death?

Yi Mu thought of his scarred foot, and frowned at the policeman's sharp yet disdainful gaze: "I don't have that kind of hobby."

He dragged a stool over and sat down, then gave a brief explanation of his and He Lele's situation.

The policeman tapped his fingers on the table, summarizing his entire statement.

"So, you suspect that He Lele is with those people to pay you back?"

Yi Mu nodded, a hint of guilt on his face.

He was heartless; he didn't consider that He Lele's family was not well-off, and that she had no other way to repay him except by resorting to this desperate measure.

The police officer shook his head. "You're overthinking it. According to our investigation, her money is regularly transferred to another account, and she doesn't have any extra savings on hand."

Therefore, He Lele's relationship with those people was not to repay Yi Mu's money.

"Is she sending money home? Is someone in her family sick? Or is there some urgent need for money?"

Faced with Yi Mu's barrage of questions, the police officer was somewhat exasperated. "Young man, it's only been a day since the case was closed. Can you give us some more time?"

Yi Mu left his phone number with the police, instructing them to contact him if they had any leads.

After leaving the police station, Yi Mu received a call from Lou Xijue, who was discussing going fishing in the suburbs that afternoon with some classmates and asked if Yi Mu wanted to go.

Yi Mu felt heavy-hearted and had no mood for amusement.

Before he could even refuse, Lou Xijue lowered his voice and said mysteriously, "I know your ex-girlfriend committed suicide. Come with me, I'll take you somewhere to find the answers."

The sheep perked up.

He met up with Lou Xijue at noon, ate something simple, and then drove to the suburbs.

The weather was bad, with thick clouds gathering in the sky. When they arrived at their destination, Lou Xijue's friends unloaded their belongings from the car.

Lou Xijue patted their class monitor on the shoulder and pointed into the depths of the dense forest.

"I heard there are lots of mushrooms in that forest. I'm going to pick some with Yimu so we can have a big meal tonight."

The squad leader jokingly said, "You'd better watch out, our lives are all in your hands."

Most wild mushrooms are poisonous. If you're not careful, you might not get to enjoy them and instead meet your maker before you do, which would be a huge loss.

"go!"

Lou Xijue chuckled and bumped into him, then took a small bucket from the car and headed into the dense forest with Yi Mu.
