Standing upright above Xia Linyin's body, even in the darkness, Xiao Li could clearly see her peaceful sleeping face.
Xia Linyin frowned slightly, seemingly not sleeping soundly. She suddenly opened her eyes, and after meeting Xiao Li's eyes, her tense body relaxed. Xia Linyin reached out and turned on the bedside lamp.
"You're really scaring me half to death. If you do that again, I'll get really angry."
Xiao Li suddenly got up and jumped out of the room. Xia Linyin thought he was going back to his own room, but to her surprise, he opened the security door and went out.
Hearing the door close in the living room, Xia Linyin froze for a moment, then, in her slippers, chased after them, calling out, "Xiao Li! Xiao Li!"
Xiao Li disappeared shortly after leaving the house, so Xia Linyin returned home. She sat on the sofa, expecting Xiao Li to return in less than five minutes, but she waited for more than half an hour without seeing Xiao Li again.
Xia Linyin found a handprint on her doorstep, deeply embedded in the door frame.
Before entering her room, Xiao Li stood at the door for a while, watching her struggle on the bed for a long time before jumping in.
Xia Linyin grabbed her coat, put it on, changed into sneakers, and went out.
She searched outside for a long time, until dawn, but still couldn't find Xiao Li.
Dragging her tired body, Xia Linyin gripped the handrail and walked up the stairs step by step. When she saw the wide-open security door, her eyes lit up, and she stepped onto the stairs in a few quick strides.
"Xiao Li, you're back—"
The sound stopped abruptly, and Xia Linyin stared in utter shock at the scene before her.
