Suddenly, the robot turned and looked in the direction of Xia Linyin and Li Luo, and the two quickly lowered their heads.
83 said, "Master, don't worry, I have already shielded you and Li Luo from the robot's detection."
Sure enough, the robot only glanced at it before looking away and continued walking with the pet on its leash.
After the robot and its pet boarded the hovercar and left, Xia Linyin and Li Luo stood up and walked along the aerial passageway into the building to search for supplies.
The two stood at the entrance and looked inside. Before the disaster, this place should have been a super mall, but now, the twisted and deformed shelves were completely empty.
The ground was covered with dusty waste. Xia Linyin and Li Luo rummaged through it, hoping to find something useful.
Li Luo moved a shelf aside and found a dress underneath. He shook off the dust and smiled as he looked at the dress, which was completely undamaged.
This fitted dress is silver, and the material is the same as the bodysuit the robot was wearing earlier. This kind of clothing, made of special material, is very difficult to cut with a dagger; it can be said to be impervious to blades and bullets.
So this dress has been sitting on the shelf for so long without falling apart or even being damaged.
Li Luo looked at Xia Linyin not far away and thought to herself, "My sister will definitely like this dress. She will be very happy."
Li Luo packed the skirt into her backpack, intending to give Xia Linyin a surprise.
All sorts of canned goods were piled up like a mountain, but unfortunately they were all empty, their contents long since emptied. Xia Linyin threw away the empty can in her hand and continued rummaging through them, hoping to find something, although the possibility was very small.
Xia Linyin bent down to pick up a can, shook it, and then threw away the empty can. Just as she was about to pick up another can, she saw a hand sticking out from under the can. The hand had long knuckles and neatly trimmed nails.
It seems the owner of the hand is an obsessive-compulsive, needing to trim the nails of each finger to a near-perfect degree.
She took a step back. "Number 83, scan."
"Yes, Master."
A panel appeared before them, showing that a person was lying under the can.
"Master, it's a robot, and its internal program is damaged."
"So, this is a dead robot?"
"You could say that the robot's internal programming is so badly damaged that it's beyond repair."
Xia Linyin grasped the robot's hand and pulled it out from under the can.
He was a male robot. Although he was covered in dirt, his features were clearly defined and sculpted, with sharp, arched eyebrows that swept into his temples, making him quite handsome.
Its physique was the same as the robot they had just encountered—tall and slender, presumably both bodies manufactured according to the golden ratio.
Xia Linyin squatted down on the ground, looked at the robot, and stroked her chin. "Number 83, can you use this body?"
Number 83 answered honestly, "Yes, Master, I can load my program into this body and use it."
“Okay, then you can go in,” Xia Linyin said, poking the robot’s elastic face with an unreadable expression.
After a moment of silence, Number 83 said, "Master, I don't recommend doing this. If I leave your brain, the information I scan won't be able to be fed back to you immediately, which is very disadvantageous for you."
"Number 83, I command you to leave my brain and enter the robot's body." Xia Linyin's tone was unquestionable.
"Alright, Master, please place your hand on the top of the robot's head."
Although it was a mechanical, monotone voice, there seemed to be a hint of helplessness in Number 83's words.
Following instructions from Number 83, Xia Linyin placed her hand on the top of the robot's head, and streams of blue electricity shot up her arm and into the robot's head.
Once the current had completely dissipated, the robot lying on the ground opened its eyes, its pupils rapidly displaying blue characters.
A minute later, the robot's eyes returned to normal. Without the glowing blue characters covering them, the robot's eyes were shockingly black. It looked at Xia Linyin, then opened its crimson lips and called out, "Master."
Xia Linyin stood up. "Let's go."
Having searched the area thoroughly, Li Luo turned around and walked back, carrying what he had found to find Xia Linyin. Thinking of that dress, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up.
Li Luo was overjoyed to meet Xia Linyin, but saw his younger sister supporting a limping, handsome man walking towards him.
"Brother, I found a man. His younger brother was captured by robots, and he's on his way to the robot base to rescue him. We're going the same way," Xia Linyin said excitedly.
"Huh? Oh..." Li Luo looked at Xia Linyin's smiling face, feeling dazed, as if her younger sister was about to be kidnapped by some random man.
Night fell again quickly. Once inside the robots' territory, dangerous creatures like insectoid beasts, lurkers, and alien beasts were rarely seen. What humans needed to worry about were the robots that were searching for human pets.
However, Xia Linyin and her group had No. 83 to shield them from the robot's detection, so they didn't have to go to great lengths to find a secluded place to spend the night. They decided to rest in the mall tonight.
A small solar-powered lamp emitted a soft glow, and Xia Linyin, Li Luo, and No. 83 sat around it.
Li Luo took a bite of food and saw Xia Linyin tilting her head and resting her chin on her hand while looking at No. 83. She said, "Little sister, I found something today that is perfect for you."
Xia Linyin finally turned her attention to Li Luo, "What is that, brother?"
Li Luo opened her backpack, took out a dress, and handed it to Xia Linyin.
Xia Linyin unfolded her skirt and said happily, "What a beautiful skirt! Thank you, brother."
Seeing that Xia Linyin liked it, Li Luo said, "You can try it on and see if it fits."
"Okay." Xia Linyin took the dress and walked behind the cover to change.
The dress's cinched waist design beautifully accentuates the girl's slender figure, while the simple and elegant round neck reveals her delicate collarbone and graceful neckline.
After changing into her dress, Xia Linyin walked out and went straight past Li Luo. She twirled around in front of No. 83 and asked, "Does it look good, Xiao Ba?"
Number 83 nodded. "It looks good."
Li Luo swallowed back the word "good-looking" that was about to slip out, and lowered her eyes with a somewhat lonely expression.
A few days later, Xia Linyin and her group arrived at the perimeter of the central base. Carefully avoiding the patrolling robots, the three of them hid in an underground passage.
After sending out No. 83 to observe the robot's shift change, Xia Linyin suddenly said to Li Luo, "Brother, I think I've fallen for Xiao Ba."
