Chapter 140 Dangerous Apocalypse 14

Buildings of various irregular geometric shapes reflect a silvery light under the sunlight, while transparent glass pipes crisscross high in the sky.

The glass pipes were spotless, with robots moving back and forth in the middle, and low green plants planted on both sides.

Blue lights shimmered on the black ground, connecting to form a star map.

Walking on it feels like stepping on a starry night sky.

Being in the central base of the robots, a very futuristic and high-tech feeling washes over you.

Xia Linyin wore a silver jumpsuit with a silver hooded jacket over it. The jacket had a beautiful drape, and it looked as if water was gently flowing around her as she walked.

Wearing a hood that covered most of her face, she led Li Luo into the base.

In the base, many robots were led by one or two human pets. These humans, whose faces were tattooed with the character "人" (human), crawled on all fours, following closely behind their robot owners.

Upon seeing Xia Linyin and Li Luo, the robots stopped in their tracks, pointing and whispering about Li Luo, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

Xia Linyin glanced at Li Luo, the incomparably handsome man kneeling at her feet with his head bowed and eyes lowered. A silver chain was around his neck, and his all-black shirt was loosely worn, revealing the purplish-blue marks underneath.

This is a human pet with perfect features, deeply loved by its owner, but apart from that, it is no different from other human pets.

However, the robots stared at him in utter shock. Obviously, robots wouldn't be surprised by the high appearance of a human pet, since they could create such a perfect appearance themselves.

Xia Linyin wanted to hear what the robots were saying, but suddenly her ears started ringing, and she couldn't hear anything except for a "buzzing" sound.

"What's going on, number 83?" Xia Linyin shook her head.

"Master, I'm being interfered with by the magnetic field inside the base and am making emergency adjustments," Number 83 said in her mind.

Xia Linyin looked at the robots around her, covered her head, and Li Luo noticed her abnormality and gave her a concerned look.

Xia Linyin looked at him, and suddenly delivered a heavy chop to the back of his neck, knocking Li Luo unconscious.

"Master, why did you knock Li Luo unconscious?" Number 83 asked.

"Don't worry about it, just get over it and get rid of this damn tinnitus!" Xia Linyin picked up Li Luo and continued walking into the base.

An oval building stood in the center of the base, with two robot guards standing at the entrance. Upon seeing Xia Linyin approaching, they scanned her, and the result was—no access permission.

Liquid weapons appeared in their hands, and the two robots silently blocked Xia Linyin's path.

After Xia Linyin and the two robots stared at each other for a while, the result of the robot's scan changed to "Personnel with authorization and access permission".

After putting away their weapons, the robot guards cleared the way, and Xia Linyin carried Li Luo horizontally into the room, gently placing the unconscious Li Luo down beside the door.

Kneeling down in front of Li Luo, Xia Linyin reached out and buttoned up his open collar, saying, "You are a good brother."

The sound was so low it was almost inaudible.

Standing up, Xia Linyin walked inside without looking back.

One by one, the electronic doors opened in front of Xia Linyin, and footsteps echoed in the gleaming metal corridor.

She walked smoothly to the last electronic door. After the light emitted from the electronic door scanned Xia Linyin, the electronic door split open in two.

A straight, shimmering aerial walkway appeared before us. The one-meter-wide walkway had no railings on either side, and below it was a bottomless abyss, like an endless void.

Above the passageway is a dazzling starry sky. Standing on the passageway, this starry sky seems to be within reach, and its beauty is breathtaking.

At the end of the passageway was a silver metal sphere spinning in mid-air, with streaks of blue electricity flowing across it.

"That energy ball is connected to the nervous system of the original sin. Master, as long as you place your hand on the metal ball, I can repair the original sin through the energy ball."

Stepping onto the aerial walkway, Xia Linyin walked step by step toward the energy ball, the voice of Number 83 echoing in her mind.

Reaching the end of the corridor, Xia Linyin stared at the energy ball that was so close, within her reach, without making a move.

Seeing that Xia Linyin was not making a move, Number 83 asked, "Master, what are you hesitating about?"

"I'm wondering if my entry into this place was a bit too easy. What about the original sin of robots? He's so powerful, and his nervous system is about to be invaded, yet he hasn't even noticed. Don't you think all of this is suspicious?"

"This place cannot be entered without permission, but I have modified the permissions for the master, so the master can enter here so smoothly. The master is right, the original sin has discovered that this place has been invaded, and he is on his way now, so you need to act quickly."

Xia Linyin raised an eyebrow. "Really? When did the game become so kind as to provide me with such a powerful system? Entering the boss's lair is effortless. I don't have to do anything; I just need to place my hand on a ball to complete the task."

Xia Linyin asked in confusion, "To me, this game doesn't seem like I'm completing a mission, but rather you are completing a mission through me."

"Master, the permission modification has a time limit. In one minute, the permission will expire, the alarm will sound, and you will be attacked by the energy ball. At that time, not only will you be unable to complete the mission, but you will also be killed by the energy ball."

Number 83 spoke with utmost seriousness, leaving no room for doubt about the gravity of his words.

"Number 83! How long are you going to keep lying to me!" Xia Linyin suddenly shouted.

The piercing sound seemed to be torn from the throat.

"Ha ha--"

"Ha ha--"

She burst into maniacal laughter, laughing until her breath trembled and tears welled in her eyes, before saying in a trembling voice, "That Li Luo is a fake, isn't he? He's just someone you used to deceive me."

It cannot be denied that Li Luo was a good brother. He would cut off his own flesh to feed his hungry sister, he would protect his only sister, and he would put aside his dignity to accompany her into the base, because in his eyes, his dignity and his life were not as important as his only sister.

But that's all. He was just an older brother, only the older brother of her character in the apocalypse, not her Li Luo, not the real Li Luo.

In the previous game, even when Xiao Li turned into a little zombie, with only a beastly bloodlust left in her body, she would still restrain her bloodsucking instinct and get close to her.

This is because bloodsucking is his instinct, but being close to her is a deeper instinct, an instinct that runs deep into his soul.
