Thirty days later, the furnace was opened again.
Xia Linyin lay on the ground. If she were a person, she would definitely be on the verge of death. As a ghost, her situation was not optimistic either. Her body was already semi-transparent, and the pattern on the carpet could be seen through her body.
Staring at the mirror in the furnace, Ah Song was shocked and exclaimed in disbelief, "She's still here!"
Pulling back his jaw that was about to drop, Ah Song murmured, "Incredible, she actually lasted this long. I thought she would have melted away long ago."
"Amitabha Buddha." Yideng clasped his hands together and recited a Buddhist chant.
Xia Linyin struggled to raise her arm and place her hand on the mirror. She opened her chapped lips, but ultimately could not utter any words, only managing a few monosyllables.
Several tongues of fire engulfed Xia Linyin's body, and she let out a blood-curdling scream, "Ah—"
The flames came fiercely and intensely. Xia Linyin rolled around in the ghostly fire, her shrill screams breaking through her parched throat, each word dripping with blood.
"Master, I can't take it anymore, I really can't take it anymore, ah—"
"Please, please, let me go! Ahhhhhh!!!"
Xia Linyin's consciousness was almost fading. She hadn't cried out when the bullet was pulled out of her thigh, but now she was screaming so miserably. One can only imagine how terrible the pain she was enduring was.
Ah Song looked reluctant. "I'm so sorry, Deng Deng. I think she really can't hold on any longer. Maybe we should just give up."
Yideng looked indifferently at Xia Linyin struggling in the Netherfire. He took out a book and tossed it to Xia Linyin, then put the lid back on the furnace.
The flames on her body subsided a bit, and Xia Linyin reached in and took the book. She looked down at the book, and on the cover were three words written neatly: "Heart-Cleansing Mantra".
Xia Linyin gripped the book tightly, moved her lips, and silently said, "I hate you, you bald monk!"
