Chapter 197 Misty Town 5

However, God did not hear Xia Linyin's prayers. Through the narrow gap, she saw the terrifying, tall figure of the cannibal appear in the living room, and as if a tracking system had been installed on her, it turned and walked towards the storage cabinet.

Although the soft carpet absorbed the sound of her footsteps, each step from her leather boots still struck Xia Linyin's heart like a drumbeat, making her heart tremble.

The man's tall figure drew closer and closer...

The cramped, dark locker amplified her fear; Xia Linyin could even hear her own heart pounding like a drum, each beat heavy against her chest.

Her body trembled uncontrollably. When the cannibal stopped in front of the locker and was about to reach out to open it, Xia Linyin's heart almost stopped for a moment.

"Aaaaaaah!!!"

A high-decibel scream suddenly rang out in the living room, sharp enough to pierce one's eardrums!

Chen Zhi was shocked to see the cannibal in the living room. Hadn't the cannibal left long ago? Why was it here?!

When the cannibal first arrived, she hid in her room on the second floor. She was too scared to go out because of the noise downstairs. Wu Yuan's shout of "Run!" scared her out of her wits. Even when it was quiet downstairs, she still didn't dare to come out. If she hadn't been hungry and thirsty, she could have stayed upstairs indefinitely.

Little did I know that when I went down the stairs to look for something to eat or drink, I turned around and saw a tall, menacing black figure.

She was so terrified that she nearly lost her mind, and a scream burst from her throat. By the time she realized what was happening and covered her mouth, it was too late.

The cannibal has its eye on her!

"Ah—" Chen Zhi screamed and rushed out of the living room, followed by a cannibal carrying a chainsaw.

Only after Chen Zhi's screams had faded into the distance did Xia Linyin slowly exhale a breath of stale air. Her limbs were so weak that she couldn't move at all, and she didn't even have the strength to lift her arm and push open the cabinet door.

She licked her dry, chapped lips and leaned back, but in the next second, she jerked her body forward, and before she could scream, a hand tightly covered her mouth.

Xia Linyin froze, and Bai Xiaolin's voice came from beside her, "It's me..."

Xia Linyin nodded, indicating that she understood. She slowly released her hand from her mouth, breathed a sigh of relief, and said, "You almost scared me to death."

"You almost scared me to death! You have no idea, when you opened the cabinet door and rushed in, my heart stopped, and I almost peed my pants," Bai Xiaolin complained.

Xia Linyin sniffed. Besides the smell of dust, there was also a strong smell of urine in the air. All her attention and thoughts had been on the cannibal, so she hadn't noticed this. Well, it wasn't that she was about to pee, it was that she had already peed. However, Xia Linyin didn't intend to expose Bai Xiaolin. She quickly crawled out of the closet.

After resting for a while, Xia Linyin regained some strength and said, "Let's hurry up and leave before the ogres return."

If Chen Zhi hadn't suddenly appeared, she and Bai Xiaolin would have been exposed just now. The cannibals could come back to check again at any time, and it would be very unsafe for them to stay here any longer.

After leaving the house with Bai Xiaolin, Xia Linyin looked up at the sky and said, "It's getting dark soon. We need to find a place to hide quickly, and also find some food and water to replenish our strength."

As she spoke, Xia Linyin took a step forward, but her legs buckled and she almost fell. Bai Xiaolin quickly caught her, "What's wrong? Are you alright?"

Xia Linyin shook her head. Her legs were sore and swollen, but there was no way to rest now. They hadn't found a place to rest, nor water or food to fill their stomachs.

"Let's go." Xia Linyin said weakly, but when she looked up, she saw a figure standing in front of the second-floor window of the house next door. When she looked again, the figure had disappeared.

"What's wrong?" Bai Xiaolin was startled by Xia Linyin's expression. He swallowed hard and followed Xia Linyin's gaze, but saw nothing. He couldn't help but ask, "What are you looking at?"

“I saw it…” Xia Linyin said, her lips parting slightly. “A wronged spirit.”
