Bai Xiaolin immediately shook his head, "It doesn't look like it at all. If that chainsaw maniac were a human, he would definitely be a young and strong man."
"Let's quickly fill in the dirt and leave this place," Xia Linyin said. This pile of dirt was too conspicuous here. If their guess was right, they couldn't alert Chad and let him know that they had discovered him hiding in the shadows.
Suddenly, Xia Linyin seemed to realize something and abruptly turned her head away.
Seeing Xia Linyin's action, Bai Xiaolin also reflexively turned his head, then trembled with fright, his heart skipped a beat.
Sakura Miho, with her long, straight black hair flowing freely, stood not far from them, looking at them expressionlessly. She was enveloped in the dim moonlight, and at first glance, she looked like a long-haired female ghost floating there.
After recognizing Sakura Miho, Bai Xiaolin patted his chest, revealing an extremely helpless expression. He felt that this game was really not for humans to play. If he kept jumping around like this, he would be scared to death without even having to confront the cannibal!
"Sakura Miho, how come you walk so quietly? Don't you know that scaring someone can be deadly?" Bai Xiaolin complained, his heart pounding with surprise.
Sakura Mie walked over, looked at Xia Linyin, and smiled apologetically, "Was Xia-chan also frightened? Well, I'm so sorry."
"How did you end up here?" Xia Linyin asked.
"I'll go out and see if I can find any clues. It looks like you guys have already found something, Natsumi-chan." Sakura Mie's gaze fell on the tombstone.
"I guess so." Xia Linyin nodded, not elaborating on the matter, and instead asked, "Have you gone back to the house we started in?"
Sakura Mie's eyes darkened. "Not yet. I was just about to go back there to see if there were any clues. It seems that Natsu-chan has the same idea."
Xia Linyin couldn't deny it. She and Bai Xiaolin now knew that the owner of that house was the cannibal Chad. There might be some important clues inside the house, and it was even possible that Chad was hiding inside.
If that's the case, then the ogres have been around them since the very beginning of the game.
After filling the soil back in, the three of them carefully made their way back to the house where they had originally been.
At this moment, the sky was turning a pale white, and it was almost dawn.
Xia Linyin lifted the rug on the floor and tapped to see if there might be a basement underneath. Bai Xiaolin went into the kitchen and began a thorough search of every place.
Sakura Miho crawled into the fireplace and carefully examined the areas they hadn't checked before, just in case anything was missed.
About ten minutes later, the three, having found nothing, tiptoed upstairs to the second floor and entered the owner's room. Everything in the room seemed normal, and they found no clues or hints.
The study was also completely unremarkable; there was no useful information to be found, nor was there any hidden room or secret chamber behind the bookshelves.
The three of them made very little noise while searching for the items, and kept their ears perked up, paying attention to any sounds coming from outside.
Everything proceeded quietly until the three of them had searched all the rooms and corners and met up in the hallway.
Bai Xiaolin shook his head at Xia Linyin and Ying Meihui, still finding nothing.
"What should we do, Natsumi-chan?" Sakura Mie asked.
“There’s still one place we haven’t searched.” Xia Linyin pointed upwards with one finger and mouthed the words.
Above them was an attic, and at the end of the corridor, against the corner of the wall, was a pole with a hook. Xia Linyin walked over and picked up the pole.
Looking up at the ceiling, Xia Linyin covered her mouth and nose, squinted her eyes, raised the pole, hooked the attic floorboards, opened the attic floorboards, and pulled out the retractable staircase inside.
Dust fell in a flurry, covering Xia Linyin from head to toe. She waved the dust away, realizing that this meant it was impossible for the cannibal to be hiding in the attic.
The attic had clearly not been opened for a long time; the retractable staircase was covered in dust. The ogre couldn't possibly hide in the attic forever without eating, drinking, or relieving himself; he had to come out to find food and contact that chainsaw maniac.
However, just to be on the safe side, it's best to take some precautions; better safe than sorry.
Taking the hat that Bai Xiaolin had just retrieved from the room, Xia Linyin placed it on the pole and gently stepped onto the stairs. Holding onto the steps, she climbed up one by one. After three steps, Xia Linyin looked at the exit above and slowly raised the pole with the hat on it.
If there really are cannibals up there, they will wait for people to climb up before attacking, and will strike the moment the hat appears.
The scene of being swung at by a club did not happen. After using her hat to scout the way and confirm that it was safe, Xia Linyin continued to climb up the steps. Standing on the steps, Xia Linyin turned her head and looked around.
The attic was filled with clutter and lots of things. Just as Xia Linyin was about to go up there, the chilling buzzing of a chainsaw suddenly rang out!
The chainsaw maniac stood at the top of the stairs on the second floor. Although he was wearing a hood and his face was hidden, Xia Linyin could already picture the sinister grin on his face—a twisted, terrifying smile that would give you nightmares just by looking at it!
"He...he...how did he get up here?!" Bai Xiaolin's tongue was tied. Such a big guy could climb the stairs without making a sound. If it weren't for the fact that this chainsaw maniac always made a sound effect when he appeared, and would start the chainsaw as soon as he saw his prey, they might not even know he was behind them!
