Chapter 25 The Cabin in the Woods 8

My sprained right foot hurt terribly; every movement felt like a knife was twisting inside. Sweat poured down my body like a waterfall.

After running a long distance, Bai Xue'er could no longer bear the excruciating pain and had to stop and rest against a tree trunk for a while.

With heavy breathing and her heart pounding as if it would burst out of her throat, Bai Xue'er looked around and then realized with utter despair that she was lost.

When she ran away, she didn't look in any direction at all; she just kept running and running. Now she has no idea where she has gone.

Where exactly is that minibus that Xia Linyin mentioned?!

Which way should she go?

Even crying can't be done loudly.

Bai Xueer hugged her knees tightly in fear, curling her body into a ball.

Suddenly, footsteps approached. Bai Xue'er covered her mouth tightly, swallowing her sobs and daring not to make a sound. Her swollen eyes widened in fear.

"Don't kill me! I'm your friend!"

It was another player! The fear in Bai Xue'er's eyes turned into surprise. She peeked out from behind the tree trunk, but when she saw the scarecrow and robot chasing closely behind the man, Bai Xue'er immediately shrank back and hid behind the tree trunk in a panic.

The scarecrow that jumped high and fast and the robot that brandished a sharp knife quickly caught up with the man with the injured thigh.

The man's thigh was hastily bandaged with his clothes, the dark red blood staining the fabric dark. His sweat-dampened hair was matted in front of his eyes. He held a power bank in his left hand and a straw doll in his right.

"I am your friend, you cannot hurt me!"

The man spoke with a fierce tone but a weak heart. Although he tried his best to appear calm, his trembling fingers betrayed his inner cowardice and fear.

"Is it your friend, or am I your friend?" the scarecrow and the robot asked each other simultaneously.

The man rolled his eyes, his gaze shifting between the scarecrow and the robot. "You are all my friends."

The scarecrow and the robot asked simultaneously, "Is it more important or am I more important?"

A cold sweat poured down his body, his fingers trembled more and more violently, and his voice grew weaker and weaker, "...They are all important."

After a suffocating silence, the scarecrow and the robot asked a question that drove the man to the brink of madness: "If I and it fell into the water at the same time, who would you save first?"

"Ah!" The man screamed and collapsed to the ground, unable to hold on any longer. He threw away the straw doll and power bank in his hands like they were hot potatoes.

The scarecrow picked up the straw doll from the ground, inserted its fingers into the doll's belly, pulled out a handful of straw and began to weave. It quickly twisted the straw together and then quickly untangled it, before saying to the man, "Look! These are the doll's intestines! Don't worry, I'll weave your intestines even more beautifully."

"Liar! You're not my friend at all!" The robot's mechanical and cold voice mercilessly pronounced the man's death sentence. "I only have one friend!"

The robot's cold, sharp knife pierced the man's chest, and the scarecrow rushed forward to rip open the man's stomach, pulling out his bloodied intestines bit by bit.

"Ahhh—" The man's miserable cries echoed through the forest. In his final moments, he deeply regretted taking the two items.

Hearing the man's shrill scream, Bai Xue'er's jaw clenched and her whole body trembled like a leaf in the wind.

"Don't find me, don't find me, don't find me..."

Bai Xueer silently repeated it to herself over and over again.

The sound of a heavy object being dragged could be heard...

"Don't find me! Don't find me!"

The dragging sound faded into the distance...

Whether it was because of Snow White's prayers that they didn't notice her or the scarecrow, they dragged the man's corpse away.

Bai Xue'er cautiously peeked out and saw a dark red bloodstain on the ground not far away. Just as Bai Xue'er was relieved that the robot and the scarecrow had left, she suddenly felt a chill in her chest.

Then a sharp pain spread.

Bai Xue'er looked down at her chest; her chest felt empty, letting in the wind, her heart...

Bai Xue'er lay on the ground with her eyes wide open, her eyeballs seemingly about to pop out of their sockets, and blood was spreading from her chest outwards.

The werewolf held a bright red heart in his hand, which was still pounding because it had just been removed from his body.

It will eventually catch any of the prey that escapes; it will not let any of them go!

“My wife…” The werewolf took a step and left the spot.

There seemed to be a strange noise outside the tree hollow. Xia Linyin was startled. Was it a werewolf? Could it be a werewolf? How did it get back so quickly?

What should she do?

Xia Linyin huddled in the corner of the tree hole, trying to minimize her presence.

A dark figure swiftly leaped into the tree hole and quickly and accurately locked onto Xia Linyin, who was hiding in the corner.

In the darkness, Xia Linyin could not see clearly, only a blurry black shadow approaching her, without even a sound of footsteps.

Before Xia Linyin could speak, a hand carrying a cool fragrance covered her mouth, and Li Luo's familiar and pleasant voice rang in her ears, "It's me."

Li Luo's hands were very cold, as if they had just been taken out of ice water. Xia Linyin shivered from the coldness of his hands and nodded.

Li Luo released Xia Linyin's mouth and said to her, "Close your eyes and hold me tight."

Li Luo carried Xia Linyin on his back. Xia Linyin clung tightly to his neck, wanting to know how Li Luo planned to get down, but she obediently closed her eyes.

Then she suddenly felt a sense of weightlessness high in the air, as if she were sitting on an elevator that had suddenly malfunctioned and was falling vertically.

To be honest, this feeling was terrible; her heart felt like it couldn't find its footing. But lying on Li Luo's back, she also felt a strange sense of security.

After landing, Li Luo did not put Xia Linyin down, but carried her on his back and ran quickly through the forest.

Xia Linyin opened her eyes and saw the trees rushing backward on both sides. Only then did she realize how much Li Luo had slowed down the speed to accommodate her and Bai Xue'er.

She asked, "Li Luo, are you human?"

Can a human really jump from such a tall tree unharmed and run faster than a cheetah?

"What do you think?" Li Luo countered.

"I don't know," Xia Linyin shook her head.

“You know.” When Li Luo said those three words, there was a hint of laughter in her voice, as well as a touch of childlike stubbornness.

It was as if she truly knew who Li Luo was.
