Chapter 52 The Clown's Paint 4

"Watch out!" Xia Linyin shouted urgently.

The middle-aged man in the white coat had a belly bigger than a pregnant woman's, and under his exposed skin were fine blue lines, like crisscrossing veins.

Lightning was incredibly fast; he dodged the middle-aged man's charge and delivered a chop to the back of the man's neck.

The middle-aged man fell to the ground and let out a painful roar. He turned over and lay on his back, his limbs twisting and struggling, his joints bent into strange arcs.

With a "plop" sound, a hole appeared in the man's big belly, and a pair of bloody little hands stretched out from inside!

The hole in the man's stomach was torn bigger and bigger by those little claws, and a triangular head like a praying mantis emerged from it. After the little alien crawled out of the man's body, its eyes were locked on Xia Linyin and Lightning, as if it would pounce on them at any moment!

However, it flicked its tail and nimbly leaped away from the man's corpse, escaping in an S-shaped trajectory.

"Trying to run?" Lightning sneered, raising his laser gun and hitting the little alien as it leaped.

Xia Linyin glanced at the man's dissected stomach; most of his internal organs had already been eaten.

The two didn't linger and hurried towards their destination.

Xia Linyin thought about how fast he dodged the lightning bolt just now, and it really suited his codename "Lightning." So, her codename would be "Demon Sound"...

Xia Linyin's lips twitched. She really was tone-deaf. Her nickname, "Devil's Voice," was indeed fitting. It was difficult for her when Xiao Li asked her to sing.

When Xia Linyin set off, her watch showed three green dots, but by the time she and Lightning arrived, there were already six people at the meeting point.

Five of them were dressed in combat uniforms, clearly members of the squad, while the other was an elderly man with white hair, wearing a white lab coat and glasses, exuding the air of a scholar.

"Demon Sound, Lightning, you're here." One of the team members greeted Xia Linyin and Lightning upon seeing them, his smile particularly radiant.

Another handsome man with a buzz cut and a tall stature, who seemed to be their leader, said, "Everyone's here, let's go."

The voice was magnetic and masculine; it was the same voice that had just summoned her.

With the elderly person in the middle, the group followed behind the man.

The team member with the bright white teeth who smiled and was very sunny was codenamed Parrot. He was a chatterbox, and Lightning quickly extracted a lot of information from him.

Aliens have invaded Earth. They not only occupy human territory, but also use humans as breeding grounds to propagate the next generation.

They will stick their tongues into the human's mouth, extending their long tongues all the way into the stomach, and then leave the eggs hidden on their tongues inside the human's body.

Humans whose eggs are implanted by aliens will have their bellies grow as big as an inflated balloon, and their consciousness and thoughts will gradually be devoured by the aliens hatching inside their bodies.

In this way, the number of aliens has increased.

When Xia Linyin realized this, she couldn't help but get goosebumps. No wonder when she encountered those aliens before, they always shot their tongues at her face. It turned out they wanted to lay eggs in her stomach!

Fortunately, she had this weapon. According to the parrot, the weapon they were using was a newly developed weapon that was extremely expensive to manufacture. Even their combat uniforms were made of special materials. The reason they were equipped with such advanced equipment was to complete a very important mission assigned by their superiors!

Their "Project X Team" was formed in an emergency, and each member was an elite among elites drawn from various teams. Hearing this, Xia Linyin couldn't help but blush, while Lightning nodded in strong agreement.

The man leading them was their captain, codenamed Night Owl.

Upon reaching the silver-white laboratory door, Night Owl looked at the old man and said, "Dr. Wei."

Dr. Wei nodded. There was a display screen on the door with Arabic numerals below it. Dr. Wei raised his hand and entered the password.

After clicking "Confirm", a 3D projection of a woman appeared on the screen.

"Now we're performing a pupil scan. Please look into my eyes. Thank you for your cooperation," a sweet but mechanical voice announced.

After scanning Dr. Wei's pupils, a sweet, inorganic voice said, "Hello, Dr. Wei."

With a hissing sound, like the popping of a valve, the door split in two.

Upon entering the bright and spacious laboratory, Dr. Wei went directly to a completely transparent table, took out a similarly transparent card from his breast pocket, and swiped it across the groove on the table.

The table slowly descended, and a silver-white safe rose up. Upon seeing the safe, Dr. Wei smiled.

After entering the password, he opened the box. Inside, there were neatly arranged double-helix glass tubes filled with a pale green liquid.

"This is the X virus, our hope." Dr. Wei picked up a glass tube, his gaze filled with affection as if he were looking at his own child.

"Did you know that it can promote strong and rapid cell division in organisms and greatly increase the mutation rate, thereby producing mutant cells?"

Dr. Wei exclaimed excitedly, "What would normally be a process of mutation and evolution that takes hundreds of millions of years for an organism can be completed by the X virus in just a few hours! It can cause significant changes in the host's body, ultimately giving it superhuman abilities!"

When talking about the virus he had researched, this wise, refined, and composed old man showed a nervous excitement.

Lightning blurted out, "Holy crap! Isn't this the T-virus from Resident Evil?"

In Resident Evil, the Umbrella Corporation developed the T-virus, originally intended for the development of biological weapons, but it ended up turning into a zombie apocalypse.

Night Owl glanced at Lightning, frowning slightly. "Resident Evil?"

Lightning quickly laughed it off and said, "Oh, haha, it's a very old movie I watched a long time ago."

Without pressing further, Night Owl projected the map from his watch into the air and said, swiping the watch, "Besides escorting Dr. Wei and the T-virus to the capital, we have another mission—"

The map of the entire city is displayed in mid-air. You can see that there are moving red dots everywhere on the map, except for one place, which has no red dots at all, like a pure land in the city.

“H City has fallen, but there isn’t a single alien here.” Night Owl zoomed in on the location. “This is H City’s largest theme park. Our superiors want us to find out what happened here and why the aliens haven’t invaded.”
