Chapter 54 The Clown's Paint 6

Several laser beams shot towards the aliens at the same time, blasting all the charging aliens away!

A dazzling blue beam of light flashed continuously. Night Owl commanded, "Parrot and Rose, follow me and lead the charge. Raccoon and Lightning will cover the rear. Demon Sound and Black Bear will protect Dr. Wei!"

"Yes, Captain." The stunningly beautiful Rose flicked a stray strand of hair behind her ear with a seductive gesture, and in the next instant, her eyes turned cold as she fired and killed an alien.

"Go! Go! Go!"

"Three o'clock! Pay attention to the three o'clock direction!"

"Roof! Watch out for the roof!"

"There's another one on the left!"

...

Xia Linyin and Black Bear pushed Dr. Wei, who was tightly clutching the metal box, forward. Later, finding Dr. Wei's pace too slow, Black Bear simply lifted Dr. Wei up with one hand.

The posture was uncomfortable, and his glasses were crookedly hanging on his nose, but Dr. Wei's faint protests were quickly drowned out by the aliens' roars and everyone's shouts.

To be honest, the team didn't coordinate very well. After all, several of the members were players without professional training, and they were strangers to each other. When faced with Night Owl's various hand gestures, they could only rely on their on-the-spot reactions and guesswork.

Fortunately, they had been modified by the X virus, making them many times faster, stronger, and more responsive than ordinary people. Even under these circumstances, they managed to break through the encirclement.

"Parrot, go open the door! We'll cover you!"

"Yes, Captain!"

The parrot, gun in hand, shot down the oncoming aliens as it ran toward the door. The aliens on either side of it were taken out by its teammates behind it before they could even reach it.

The thick metal door had a handle that looked like a turntable. The parrot turned the handle, and the intricate chains crisscrossing inside the metal door began to turn. After a few clicks, the door opened.

The parrot held the door shut, and after everyone had come in, he released his hands. The metal door closed automatically, severing a tongue that was shooting towards him.

The sucker-covered tongue fell to the ground, writhing like an earthworm, and the liquid flowing from the broken end corroded a pit in the ground.

Blue liquid flowed from the spot where the metal door had severed the tongue, hissing and bubbling as it corroded the edges.

The sound of "bang bang" rang out, and the metal door showed signs of loosening as it was being pounded by the aliens.

A black, gleaming helicopter was parked in the center of the rooftop. The raccoon sat in the pilot's seat, while the parrot and Dr. Wei sat in the back.

Tanuki opened the control panel, and after clicking the button, the rotor and tail rotor started spinning, and the violent wind almost blew people away.

The sleek and imposing helicopter took off and flew into the air in Xia Linyin and the others' sight.

With a loud bang, the metal door was smashed open by the aliens!

"Jump!" With that single, clean word, Night Owl ran toward the edge of the rooftop and then leaped off!

Xia Linyin stopped just in time when she reached the edge of the rooftop. She looked in astonishment at Night Owl's figure jumping straight down. That was a drop of over a hundred stories!

Just standing on the edge of the rooftop and looking down makes my legs weak. The cars and aliens on the ground look like tiny dots. You can imagine how terrifying that height is.

Even if they were modified by the X virus, jumping from this height would be extremely dangerous!

Lightning, Rose, Black Bear, and Charlene stood on the edge of the rooftop instead of jumping down with Night Owl. However, they soon discovered that Night Owl had deployed a parachute halfway down the fall.

"We have parachutes!" Lightning shouted. His heightened senses, enhanced by the modifications, made him seem to have eyes in the back of his head. He turned and dodged an alien that lunged at him.

The alien couldn't stop and crashed off the rooftop.

The four of them were killing aliens while searching for a way to open their parachutes. They all knew they were players, which was quite awkward. Night Owl had already landed, and they were still looking for their parachutes.

Xia Linyin touched her body and found something sewn inside the back of her combat suit. It must be a parachute, and the switch must be in a place that is easy to reach.

Lightning struck somewhere, and suddenly a parachute shot out from behind, swaying in the air.

Lightning stared blankly at the parachute swaying in the wind; he hadn't even jumped yet!

He seemed to have pressed on the silver material on his left chest just now, and then Lightning pressed on his left chest again, causing the parachute to retract.

"This thing is high-tech, and it can even be retrieved!" Lightning exclaimed in surprise, then turned and jumped off the rooftop.

Xia Linyin and the others had just seen Lightning's movements. After learning how to open the parachute, they didn't linger. They blasted away several aliens that were rushing towards them and jumped down.

During the rapid descent, the fierce wind lashed her face like knives, and Xia Linyin felt her heart flutter. If she hadn't been wearing protective goggles, she definitely wouldn't have been able to open her eyes.

This is several times more thrilling than bungee jumping!

Fortunately, she wasn't a newbie to the game anymore, and her mental fortitude had been greatly strengthened. So, she wasn't thrown off balance by the dizzying height and rapid descent. Xia Linyin quickly opened her parachute.

Once her feet touched the ground, Xia Linyin felt her heart finally settle back into place. The feeling of being grounded was simply wonderful, although her hands and feet were still a little weak.

"What's wrong with you guys? Why did you take so long?" Night Owl frowned as he looked at Xia Linyin and the others, his handsome face filled with suppressed anger.

Lightning seemed to pretend not to hear, his eyes darting around. Black Bear stood there like a wooden stake, silent. Rose twirled her hair with her fingers, lost in thought.

Seeing that Night Owl's brows furrowed deeper and deeper, Xia Linyin had no choice but to speak up: "After the combat suit was damaged, we were worried about the parachute, so we checked it first."

Their combat suits had all been splattered with alien blood to varying degrees; her suit had several holes in it. Night Owl's combat suit was the most intact among them, so this reason should be valid.

"Captain, let's go quickly." Lightning changed the subject at the right time.

"Hmm." Suppressing the doubts lingering in his mind, Night Owl nodded and ran towards the black Hummer parked in front of the building.

Vehicles were parked haphazardly on the wide street. Some had their windows smashed, some had their tires blown out, and some had crashed into shops along the street, leaving only half of their bodies outside.

The ground was covered with trails of red blood and pits caused by blue liquid corrosion. Dirty newspapers were scattered on the ground, and the headline of each newspaper was the shocking word "alien".
