Xia Linyin pulled out relevant documents from a stack of papers on the table. Each one was a bloody photo, showing headless victims lying dead in the mountains.
From the initial discomfort of seeing these shocking photos of victims to now browsing them while eating late-night snacks, Xia Linyin's mental transformation didn't take long.
"The Wednesday serial murders all occurred around 3 a.m. on Wednesdays. The killer committed three crimes in just six months, and each time the methods used were extremely brazen."
Gao Haichuan pointed to the photo nailed to the whiteboard and continued, "The Red-Clad Woman Serial Murder Case: all the victims were young girls wearing red clothes. The crime scenes were all in secluded alleys without surveillance cameras, and the victims were all subjected to inhuman torture before they died."
“We are still unsure which serial killer the Rose Killer will target, or when he will strike, so we need to investigate all three cases simultaneously.”
Gao Haichuan looked at Xia Linyin and said, "Xia Linyin, would you be in charge of the Red-Clad Woman serial murder case? You can pretend to be a single woman coming off the night shift and use yourself as bait to lure out the murderer. This method will be a bit dangerous, but it is also the most likely way to find the murderer."
Xia Linyin nodded, "Okay, no problem."
Worry showed in Shangguan Xin's big eyes. "Xiao Yin, are you sure it's okay? It feels really dangerous to do this."
"If you're not afraid of ghosts, why would you be afraid of people?"
Xia Linyin smiled, flipped her hand and took out her high heels. After using the Ghost Coins she got from the fifth game to enhance them, she gained another high heel, turning one into a pair.
After putting on both high heels, she didn't feel a chill all over her body. The high heels on her feet were similar to ordinary high heels. She only felt a chill when she was using them.
"This is my ghost artifact; I can wear it when the time comes."
The eerie red high heels had a strange feel to them. Shangguan Xin nodded. "Then be careful. Contact us if you're in any danger."
Gao Haichuan said, "In that case, Xia Linyin will be in charge of the Red-Clad Woman Serial Killer case, Shangguan Xin and I will be in charge of the Decapitation Serial Killer case, and Yin Yichen will be in charge of the Wednesday Serial Killer case. Does everyone have any objections?"
"No objections." All three shook their heads in unison.
Aside from secretly investigating these murder cases, Xia Linyin behaved no differently from any other student, attending classes normally.
On the playground—
During free time in PE class, Xia Linyin was running along the track when a girl ran up to her and said, "Xia Linyin, An Meimei needs to talk to you. She's in the bathroom right now."
Huh? An Meimei is looking for her in the bathroom? Did An Meimei get her period and not bring sanitary pads?
Xia Linyin patted her pockets; she only had a pack of tissues on her. "Never mind," she thought, "I'll go check first. If it's true, I'll borrow some more for An Meimei."
Because it's during class time, there aren't many people coming to the toilets near the playground right now.
Two girls with dyed hair and a string of earrings stood at the toilet door. If a girl wanted to use the toilet, they would tell her to go to another toilet.
In the restroom, a girl with an afro and makeup stepped on An Meimei and slapped An Meimei's cheek hard.
"I've noticed that Yin Shao and Xia Linyin have been getting quite close lately, along with Shangguan Xin. Do you know what those three have been up to all the time?"
An Meimei's voice trembled with sobs, "I...I don't know..."
The girl with the afro kicked An Meimei hard, "You don't know! You're Xia Linyin's deskmate, don't you know what she's doing?"
An Meimei clutched the spot where she had been kicked, curled up, and cried, "I don't know, I really don't know..."
"Useless thing! You're Xia Linyin's deskmate, don't you know what Xia Linyin does? What can you do besides eat? How come you don't get fat and die from eating so much! You fat pig, I really want to kick you to death!"
After kicking An Meimei several times, Zhou Kefang grabbed An Meimei's hair and dragged her towards the toilet, yelling, "You like eating so much! Do you want to eat shit or not?!"
"Ahhh! No, I don't want to!" An Meimei cried out and struggled desperately as her hair was pulled painfully and the stench from the toilet grew stronger.
"You fat pig, eat shit!" Zhou Kefang pressed An Meimei's face down onto the dirty toilet floor, then looked up at her henchmen and said, "Fill the bucket for washing mops with water and bring it over."
A red bucket filled with water was brought in front of Zhou Kefang. Zhou Kefang grabbed An Meimei's hair again, lifted her up, and pushed her into the bucket.
Seeing An Meimei's struggling movements, several girls burst into laughter.
"What are you doing!"
Seeing this, Xia Linyin clenched her fists in anger and rushed towards Zhou Kefang and An Meimei, with several girls blocking her way.
Zhou Kefang released An Meimei and looked at Xia Linyin, a hint of jealousy flashing across her face. "Xia Linyin, you've been getting quite close to Young Master Yin lately. I'm warning you, stay away from Young Master Yin in the future, or I'll beat you so badly your parents won't recognize you, and see how you'll still try to seduce Young Master Yin with that face."
"Get out of the way." Xia Linyin's gaze was icy as she swept over the girls blocking her way.
Her gaze was like a sharp blade. Intimidated by Xia Linyin's cold eyes, the girls involuntarily stepped aside to let her pass. After realizing what had happened, they all blushed with embarrassment and anger.
They were actually frightened by Xia Linyin's single glance!
