On the third day after the murder in Qingshui Street, the story took a turn. After DNA comparison, the victim turned out to be the murderer of the woman in red who committed the serial murders.
The killer's modus operandi was to disguise himself as a drunk homeless man, follow behind a young girl wearing red clothes, and then knock her down and use a stun gun hidden inside her clothes to knock her unconscious.
The turn of events brought hope to Gao Haichuan and his team. They quickly solved the other two cases, as the Rose Killer's next target was likely the murderer in these two cases.
However, the unease that enveloped Xia Linyin's heart grew stronger and stronger.
In the corridor on the first floor of the teaching building, during the break between classes, students stood in twos and threes. At this moment, a handsome boy with an earring in his right ear walked towards the classroom on the far right with his hands in his pockets.
He was followed by a group of boys, each holding a large bouquet of roses.
As he passed by, the students in the corridor made way for him.
"It's Young Master Yin! Look! It's Young Master Yin!"
"Ahhh! So handsome! Young Master Yin is so handsome!"
"My God! How can someone be so handsome! He's like he stepped right out of a comic book!"
"Young Master Yin is walking this way! He looked at me! Ahhh! I'm so happy I could faint!"
"What's Young Master Yin doing? So many roses, is he going to confess his love? As expected of Young Master Yin, he just throws in a whole garden of roses. But which girl is so lucky! Is it me? Could it be me?"
...
Xia Linyin was sitting in her seat, scrolling through news about the murder case on Qingshui Street on her phone, when she heard screams all around her.
The screams grew increasingly excited; anyone who didn't know better would have thought a big star had arrived.
What's all this commotion about?
Xia Linyin raised her head in confusion, and then saw Yin Yichen walking into the classroom and heading straight towards her.
After winking at Xia Linyin, Yin Yichen smiled wickedly and, amidst countless screams, reached out and hooked his arm around Xia Linyin's neck, pulling her away from the classroom.
"Yin Yichen, what are you doing?" Xia Linyin looked at Yin Yichen's handsome face with a puzzled expression.
This guy has made such a big fuss; it'll bring her a lot of trouble.
Didn't she see the envious, jealous, and hateful looks around her that were practically turning her into a hornet's nest?
"You'd better give me an explanation, or I'm going to lose my temper."
"Although the situation has taken a turn, I believe the Rose Killer killed the homeless man because of you, not because he was the perpetrator of the Red Woman serial killer case."
Yin Yichen lowered his voice and said in Xia Linyin's ear, "Since the Rose Killer has broken his modus operandi, I also need to change my plans. You know, investigating serial murders now is just a waste of time."
"What plan?" Xia Linyin asked.
"Lure the snake out of its hole." Yin Yichen licked his lips. "Use myself as bait to lure the Rose Assassin to kill me. Only in this way will we have a glimmer of hope."
"Are you crazy?" Xia Linyin frowned at him. "People will die, people really will die!"
“We’ve been playing a life-or-death game all along, haven’t we?” Yin Yichen raised his handsome eyebrows. “I’ve always wondered why the demon chose you. I don’t know whether to call you lucky or unlucky. In this situation, it’s obvious that the demon has chosen you. There are so many people on the internet crying and begging to sacrifice themselves to the demon every day, but the demon has taken a liking to you. It’s like the demon is offering itself up to you. Why not take the prey?”
"So you're planning to hook your arm around my neck and walk around the campus like this?" Xia Linyin said helplessly. "Don't you think this behavior is really childish?"
"That's true." Yin Yichen stopped and, after letting go of Xia Linyin, took her delicate hand in his and gently kissed the back of her fair hand.
"That should be enough to anger the demon, after all, he cares about you so much."
"I look forward to..." Yin Yichen's lips curled into a smile, "meeting the devil."
Turning around and waving, Yin Yichen walked away with a flourish.
The group of boys following behind him shoved roses into Xia Linyin's hands, saying, "Sister-in-law, keep this safe! These are roses from Brother Chen!"
Xia Linyin stared speechlessly at the roses in her hand, surrounded by a circle of roses on the ground.
She felt like a monkey being watched in a zoo.
Two days later, Xia Linyin was doing her homework at her desk when the familiar screams and shouts rang out again.
She raised her eyes and lazily looked at the person who had come in. "What's wrong with you now?"
Yin Yichen placed his hands on Xia Linyin's desk, his long, thick eyelashes lowered, and said matter-of-factly, "I missed you."
Ignoring his nonsensical talk, Xia Linyin looked at his spiky ponytail and said disdainfully, "What kind of hairstyle is that?"
Yin Yichen combed his overly long bangs back and tied them into a small pigtail on top of his head, revealing his smooth forehead. He touched his pigtail and said smugly, "This is the trendy apple head hairstyle. Only a real handsome guy can withstand the test of all kinds of hairstyles. How about it? Isn't it incredibly handsome?"
Xia Linyin rolled her eyes at him and then lowered her head to read.
"Oh my god! You're still reading? What's so interesting about this book? Are you hungry from class? I brought you a cake."
Yin Yichen carried the bag full of cakes to the table. "I didn't know what flavor you liked, so I bought one of each flavor. There are cranberry, strawberry, yellow peach, and mango blueberry. Take a look and see which one you like."
