Xiao Li hopped forward, blocking Xia Linyin's path. Xia Linyin crouched down and pinched his nose. "Be good, I'll be back soon."
Xiao Li jumped forward another step, her outstretched arms wedged on either side of Xia Linyin's head, her big, dark eyes clearly reflecting her face.
“If I take you out, people will notice. Look at your arms, they can only be straight and not bent. People will notice immediately.”
Upon hearing Xia Linyin's words, Xiao Li let out a low growl and tried her best to bend her elbows little by little.
Xia Linyin looked at his movements with surprise, "Can you bend your arm? Can you bend it a little bit more?"
Actually, she was also worried about leaving Xiaoli alone at home. If possible, it would be best to take Xiaoli out with her.
Seeing Xia Linyin's smile, Xiao Li seemed encouraged and tried to bend her arms a little more, until the fingers of her two hands could touch.
However, this seemed to be the limit of how much his arm could bend. Xia Linyin looked at it and saw that it was bent at about a 30-degree angle.
"Xiao Li, do you want to hug me?" Xia Linyin bent her arms and hugged his body. "Like this, do you want to hug your sister?"
Xiao Li nodded, her little mouth pursed tightly, and she bent her arm a little harder, her knuckles making a clicking sound.
Xia Linyin was alarmed and quickly said, "That's enough, that's enough. You can be like this, you don't need to bend over anymore. I'll take you out with me."
With a "crack" sound, like a bone breaking, Xiao Li's arm finally bent, and he wrapped his arms around Xia Linyin's neck, revealing a satisfied smile.
Xia Linyin felt extremely sorry for him. How could this child be so foolish! She had told him to stop going astray and wanted to scold him, but when she saw the smile on his face, she couldn't bring herself to say anything harsh.
"It's my fault, sister." Xia Linyin touched his arm. "How's your hand? Is it broken? Can you straighten it?"
Xiao Li stretched out her arms, then bent them back down and wrapped them around Xia Linyin's neck, refusing to let go.
Xia Linyin breathed a sigh of relief and praised, "Great job!"
Xiao Li lowered her thick, dark eyelashes, seemingly blushing.
"So cute!" Xia Linyin pinched his cheek and picked him up.
After driving to the town, Xia Linyin bought some clothes and a stroller for the child. She put Xiao Li in the stroller, pulled up the sunshade, and pushed the stroller away.
He was quite reluctant to sit in the stroller, especially when he saw other babies with pacifiers in their mouths sitting in the strollers; he wanted to jump out of the stroller even more.
However, his protest was immediately rejected by Xia Linyin. Although he looked like a child, his weight was not that of a child, but rather about the same as that of an adult.
If she had to hold him the whole way, she wouldn't be able to keep her arms.
Back home, Xia Linyin opened the bag. Tomatoes, strawberries, apples, cherries... the bag was filled with all sorts of red fruits.
Xia Linyin took out a tomato, and Xiao Li stared intently at the bright red tomato in her hand. Xia Linyin waved the tomato in front of him, and Xiao Li rolled his eyes, his gaze following the movement of the tomato.
Xia Linyin stopped teasing him and brought the tomato to his lips, saying, "Take a bite."
Xiao Li opened her mouth and took a bite of the tomato, but before she could swallow it, she spat it all out. Xia Linyin put down the tomato and picked up a strawberry. "How about this one? Try this one, it's sweet."
Xiao Li put the strawberry in her mouth, her face scrunched up as if she were eating something unpalatable. Xia Linyin reached out and said, "Spit it out."
Xiao Li spat out the strawberry with a "pui," and her relieved expression made Xia Linyin laugh.
Xia Linyin squeezed watermelon juice and then added half a bag of blood to it. This time, Xiao Li didn't spit it out.
Xia Linyin ate her dinner after making herself, while Xiao Li sat across from her at the table, stretching out her hands and drinking watermelon juice through a straw.
After dinner, Xia Linyin said she would give him a bath, but the guy jumped all over the room as if he were being tortured, stomping loudly on the floor.
Xia Linyin couldn't help but wonder if he was going to break through the floorboards.
"If you're not going to take a shower tonight, you're sleeping outside!" Xia Linyin said breathlessly.
With a "thump," Xiao Li turned around to look at Xia Linyin, and three seconds later, he jumped towards the door with a "thump thump thump."
Each blow was heavy and vicious, filled with rage, leaving large holes in their backs.
Well, this time he really stepped through the floor!
Xiao Li's reaction was unexpected by Xia Linyin.
Xia Linyin quickly chased after her, shouting, "Where are you going! Come back here!"
Fortunately, Xiao Li didn't jump too far, and after Xia Linyin called her, she obediently came back.
While washing Xiao Li's hair, Xia Linyin asked, "Does it feel good?"
Hearing his humming, Xia Linyin chuckled, and her movements became even gentler.
After tossing and turning until late at night, Xia Linyin, exhausted, finally went to bed. She said "goodnight" to Xiao Li and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Two days later, Xia Linyin and the others went to Master Chunyang to apply for a certificate to raise zombies.
Master Chunyang's house is located at the very end of the alley, secluded and deep. It is an old-fashioned house with a large area, like the courtyard of an ancient wealthy family with winding corridors.
Dressed in a silk Tang suit and with his hair tied in an ancient bun, the Taoist priest Chunyang stood in the courtyard, teasing the caged birds with birdseed.
The servant led Xia Linyin and the others into the courtyard and then withdrew.
"You've arrived. The monkey told me about you." Master Chunyang tossed birdseed to the birds, clapped his hands, and looked at Xia Linyin and the others.
"Raising zombies isn't something just anyone can do; it requires rigorous testing, and only those who pass the test are qualified to raise zombies."
Xia Linyin gave John a wink, and John placed the safe he was carrying on the stone table in the yard, opened the lid, and inside were stacks of brand-new banknotes.
"Master Chunyang, let's not beat around the bush. Since we dare to raise zombies, we are not ordinary people. We know the rules. Rest assured, we will abide by the regulations when raising zombies and will not cause any trouble. The blood used to raise the zombies is also purchased by the monkey from legitimate channels."
Master Chunyang turned his gaze away from the box, stroked his beard, and laughed heartily, "Since you're so cooperative, I'll be too embarrassed to make things difficult for you any longer. I'll get the paperwork done for you today."
"Master Chunyang, to be honest, this is our first time raising zombies. We heard from the monkey that you have a lot of experience in raising zombies, so we hope that you can give us some pointers," Xia Linyin said, cupping her hands in greeting.
Master Chunyang nodded, "Indeed, when it comes to raising zombies, I am the best and no one dares to disagree."
With his hands behind his back, Master Chunyang walked towards the inner room. "Come with me, I'll show you the zombies I've been raising."
