Just like in the previous game, after the final battle with the insect beasts, Xia Linyin's body quickly withered and became haggard. Her hospital gown hung loosely on her body, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.
Su Jinyan led her to the quantum computer, put on his helmet, and gestured for Xia Linyin to put on another helmet.
Xia Linyin picked up the helmet and put it on. She and Su Jinyan entered the pure white room and saw the NPC who looked exactly like her.
Xia Linyin frowned and then cast a questioning look at Su Jinyan.
Su Jinyan looked at the NPC and said, "This is a virtual character created based on you. Her thoughts are 99% compatible with yours. In a sense, she is equivalent to another you."
"But I never thought she was really you. My brain always told me that she was just a string of data."
Su Jinyan turned her head to look at Xia Linyin, "Linyin, do you understand? Virtual things are ultimately just virtual."
“He’s different; he has self-awareness,” Xia Linyin shook her head, subconsciously refuting.
This is the essential difference between Xiao Li and other NPCs. He is no longer a string of cold, inorganic data. He has his own thoughts and emotions, rather than simply having a personality given to him by the system.
“There is no difference, Lin Yin. If you want, you can create a virtual character that is exactly the same as him right now, and know that you are just an NPC.”
Su Jinyan spoke coldly, his voice devoid of much variation, sounding cruel and ruthless, as if determined to shatter Xia Linyin's long-held mindset and instill the idea that an NPC is an NPC, not allowing her any chance to escape.
A man appeared in the room, standing motionless with his eyes closed. Every part of his body seemed to be a masterpiece of God, so perfect that it had an unreal, surreal quality.
He stood there quietly with his eyes closed, and without doing anything, his presence was impossible to ignore.
This is a man who has broken through the dimensional barrier, making people look forward to seeing what kind of charm he will have when he lifts his thick, dark eyelashes.
She would probably be captivated by his eyes at first glance and never want to leave, her soul stolen by those eyes, forever lost in their allure.
Upon seeing that familiar face, Xia Linyin's breath caught in her throat. She shook her head, her voice trembling with emotion, and said, "No, this isn't him, this isn't him..."
Seeing the man's eyelashes flutter a few times, as if he was about to open his eyes, Xia Linyin covered her head and cried out, "Don't do this to me, Jinyan, don't do this to me!"
She looked hysterical, like a madwoman!
Xia Linyin quit the game, took off her helmet and threw it on the table. She took a few steps back, looking at the helmet with fear in her eyes, as if she were looking at some kind of monster.
Su Jinyan then exited the game. He approached Xia Linyin and reached out to wipe away the tears that had unknowingly streamed down her face.
Xia Linyin trembled slightly, then came to her senses. She sniffed, wiped away her tears, and said, "I want to apply to go to the Insect Beast Planet."
"I hate...they!"
Xia Linyin spoke slowly and deliberately, her voice filled with deep-seated hatred, her eyes brimming with a chilling hatred that seemed to contain a raging fire capable of burning everything to ashes.
After eliminating the insectoid beasts that came to Earth, humanity sent its army through wormholes to the planet where the insectoid beasts lived, gradually conquering the planet by using the same methods against them.
The Insect Beast Planet is rich in mineral resources and has an environment suitable for human survival. Even if there are some problems, scientists will be able to solve them. In the future, the Insect Beast Planet will serve as the second planet on which humanity depends for survival, becoming humanity's second home besides Earth.
Xia Linyin's application was approved quickly. When she made this decision, Su Jinyan didn't say anything, but he submitted the application to go to the Insect Beast Planet with her, because he knew that no matter whether he stopped her or not, Xia Linyin would go.
Besides, having something she wants to do is better than her constantly thinking about that NPC and gradually becoming depressed.
Something is bound to happen to disrupt the status quo.
On the devastated battlefield of the planet, the earth trembled with a rumbling sound as an endless tide of insectoid beasts surged forth!
The enormous insect beasts swung their thick, powerful tails, letting out deafening roars. Their wrinkled, hard skin covered their powerful bodies, as if they were wearing a thick layer of armor.
Each step they took stirred up a cloud of sand and gravel as they roared and charged forward, smashing through anything in their path, even their own companions. They shoved hot breath from their nostrils, revealing their unpleasant tempers.
Drones hovered high in the sky, swarming like locusts and blocking out the sun, while high-speed bullets rained down on the insect swarm.
Xia Linyin piloted a transforming mech as large as the insect beast. After a long battle, her limbs felt as heavy as lead.
Sweating profusely, her eyes filled with a scarlet bloodlust, Xia Linyin waved her arms, and the mecha, under her control, wielded a giant sword crackling with electricity.
With her hands raised high, Xia Linyin forcefully swung the giant sword down, slicing it into the insect beast's thick, long neck. The intense electric current caused the insect beast to convulse.
Behind her, one insectoid beast swung its tail and struck the mecha's leg, while another insectoid beast slammed its powerful body into the mecha. Inside the cockpit, Xia Linyin staggered a few steps, her body unsteady.
The massive transforming mech stumbled a few steps before collapsing to its knees with a loud thud.
The surrounding insectoid beasts rushed towards the mecha, trying to tear this colossal creature, which was just as large as themselves, into pieces.
"Lin Yin!"
The mecha controlled by Su Jinyan charged towards Xia Linyin like a ferocious beast, slamming its fist into the insect beast, grabbing the insect beast by the neck and throwing it aside. Su Jinyan, bathed in the insect beast's flesh and blood, came to Xia Linyin's side and helped the mecha, which was kneeling on one knee, to its feet.
The fierce battle between humans and insectoid beasts continued, and finally...
The insect-beast tide began to retreat, and the insects and beasts began to flee in panic.
However, Xia Linyin did not feel much relief or happiness. She came out of the mecha and ran towards Su Jinyan's mecha with a heavy heart.
The once restrained and imposing black mecha lay motionless on the ground, severely damaged, with sparks occasionally bursting out.
Xia Linyin jumped onto the head of the mecha, forcefully ripped off the mask that was already full of cracks and dents, and jumped into the cockpit. She looked at Su Jinyan, who was covered in blood, and with trembling fingers, took out a spare medicine and injected it into his body.
