When Song Sanniang opened the door and saw the patriarch lying there with his head covered in snow, she was surprised. Before she could ask, the patriarch explained his purpose.
Sabu took a deep breath and spoke to the young female in front of him.
"Tigonis, I heard from others that not only do you always catch prey every time you go to the forest, but the key is that I have never seen you seriously injured." The key is that they were just some scratches, of course he didn't say the latter sentence.
You have to know that the hunting team is almost entirely made up of experienced and strong male orcs, and they cannot guarantee that every hunt will be safe.
Song Sanniang nodded in agreement. At first, as a female, she rebelled against her parents' wishes and ran away from home for more than half a month without any news. Everyone thought she had met with an accident, but in the end she returned to the tribe safely.
Countless people in her tribe talked about her in private. Later, she did not follow the usual path. A female risked her life to go hunting in the forest every day. The key was that she always came back safely with prey. More orcs paid attention to her.
Although she always tried her best to avoid people, she would still meet some people, so the orcs in the tribe knew how her hunting was going.
They all privately speculated that she might have found a way to reach the depths of the forest, or a secluded place with many prey and no dangers around, which was why she could return safely every time.
Song Sanniang had probably heard this a few times before, but she didn't take it seriously. Now that the clan leader suddenly came to her, she didn't think much of it.
"Yes, what's the problem?"
Sabu didn't answer immediately, but just looked at her hesitantly.
Seeing that he didn't say anything and didn't ask, Song Sanniang didn't want to take the blame.
Sabu waited for a while and found that she really didn't respond. He knew in his heart that he had to speak frankly.
He sighed and looked at Song Sanniang sincerely, "I don't mean anything else, it's just that many people in the tribe are facing a survival crisis now." As he spoke, he carefully observed Song Sanniang's expression.
Song Sanniang continued to play dumb, "Ah, really?"
Sabu's expression grew increasingly worried. "The snowy season has just begun, and they're running low on food. They urgently need to acquire new food. Tigonis, we need your help. Lead the tribe's warriors into the Beast Forest to hunt."
Song Sanniang put away the nonchalant expression on her face and said, "Chief, although I really want to help, I am just a weak female. I can't do what you ask me to do."
Sabu looked at her steadily for a while, and finally compromised. He took a serious attitude and began to discuss with Song Sanniang the reward for leading them to the forest to hunt.
The clan leader adjusted his attitude in asking for help, and Song Sanniang was willing to be patient and listen to the bargaining chips he offered.
Finally, Song Sanniang and Sabu reached an agreement.
She can lead a hunting team to look for prey, but she is only responsible for leading the way, and the hunting is left to the orcs she brings. After five days, she will no longer hunt with the hunting team, and she will be responsible for her own safety at that time.
This time she is leading the team, and the Kanitus will not have to join the hunting team for half of the next flowering season, but their prey distribution will remain the same.
Sabu didn't hesitate and simply agreed to her conditions.
After agreeing on the time and place for tomorrow's gathering, Sabu left. Looking at the direction he left, Song Sanniang guessed that he was probably going to notify the members who were participating in the hunt.
After closing the door, Song Sanniang quickly returned to the house.
Canitus was waiting at the door. As soon as Song Sanniang entered, a pair of warm hands came up to warm her hands. She wanted to say something, but was stopped by Canitus.
"Why are your hands so cold? Don't talk, go back to the house and warm them up first."
After saying that, he took off the cloak from Song Sanniang's neck, pulled her to the kang bed in the room, covered her with animal skin, and gave her a bowl of meat soup. Soon Song Sanniang's body warmed up.
Kanitus felt her up and down, and after confirming that there was no cold spot on her body, he was satisfied, "Okay, now let's talk about what you just promised."
When the clan leader knocked on the door outside, he wanted to go out with Song Sanniang. Before he could open his mouth, his partner rejected him with a warning look. He had no choice but to watch the door in front of him being ruthlessly closed, and Song Sanniang went out alone.
However, he had sharp ears and he had heard most of the conversation between Song Sanniang and Sabu. He could fill in the missing parts with a little thought.
When he thought of what Song Sanniang had promised, his whole body felt warm and his eyes felt a little sore.
"You shouldn't have agreed to the chief's request for me. It's snowy season now, and the forest is very dangerous. If you..."
Song Sanniang hugged Canitus, patted his shoulders gently and explained the reasons why she agreed.
"Don't think too much now. Since the chief has come to me, this is the tribe that protected me and helped me grow up safely. I can't refuse or hide. Those tiger orcs who are short of food are also my people. Maybe they gave me fruit and fed me when I was a child."
"Besides, you have a cub now. He will be born soon. He needs a stable and peaceful environment to grow up in. Only when the tribe is well can our family be stable."
Song Sanniang's voice was steady and powerful, and Canitus in her arms also calmed down.
"I understand what you're saying, but I don't know why. Hearing you compromise makes me feel uncomfortable. I can't figure it out for a moment."
"I know, I know, it's okay, you just care about me too much..."
After Canitus' mood completely calmed down, he got out of Song Sanniang's arms a little embarrassedly. It was really hilarious that a male like him was so sentimental that he nestled in his partner's arms and almost shed tears.
