Chapter 27: New Species of “Two-legged Insects”

Chapter 27: New Species of “Two-legged Insects”

On the way back, Xie Liang found some wild white radishes near a well. He pulled them up one by one, washed them with water from the well, and then the three of them squatted on the ground and ate the radishes together.

The lights were still on in a farm next to the well, and in the open space of the bungalow, several pig monsters were sitting around a table, eating with great relish. They were in high spirits and talking loudly.

"Wait!" Lu Bubu said as he walked closer to the pig monster over there.

"What's wrong?" Xie Liang asked.

Lu Bubu looked at Xie Liang in shock: "Oh my God! I think I can understand what they are saying!"

Xie Liang listened attentively for a moment after hearing what he said. He was surprised to find that he could understand it, and they both looked at each other in shock.

"I understand too..." said Xie Liang.

"What's going on?" Lu Bubu asked.

"I don't understand." Xu He said lightly from the side.

Xie Liang remembered that Xu He was the only one who didn't eat the white tiger meat today: "Could it be because we ate the white tiger meat and Brother He didn't, so he didn't understand?"

Lu Bubu was surprised and said, "What? That's the meat of a white tiger? Brother, you..."

"Tiger meat is not human flesh, don't make a fuss. You have eaten tiger meat before, so stay calm." Xie Liang patted his shoulder and comforted him.

Lu Bubu looked at him: ...

Xie Liang pointed to a corner of the bungalow and said, "Let's go over there so we can hear more clearly and see if there is any useful information."

After getting there, they began to eavesdrop attentively.

Eight pig monsters were sitting around a square table several meters long. The table was covered with several large banana leaves, and on the banana leaves was a fat man who was roasted to a charred aroma. He looked like a roasted pig.

The fat man had been eaten half by them, and his golden roasted thighs were still dripping fat onto the banana leaves. The sight was particularly horrifying.

The table was piled high with bottles of wine, and empty bottles were scattered crookedly at the foot of the table. The pig monsters all looked drunk.

Through the conversation between the pig monsters, the three people learned that the fat man roasted on the table was a new breed recently delivered from the slaughterhouse.

They call it "two-legged worm" and say that this kind of "two-legged worm" grows fast and has a short market life when bred. It is completely different from the original species, but unfortunately it is difficult to reproduce.

One pig monster also said that several such "two-legged insects" had escaped from its farm, and reminded other pig monsters to reinforce the iron fences.

In the end, they unanimously decided to give up breeding these new species of "two-legged insects" and send them all to the slaughterhouse when the large trucks arrived.

Lu Bubu had been squatting for too long, his legs numb, so he turned his back to lean against the round iron barrel next to him. As soon as he leaned over, the barrel collapsed onto the concrete floor with a loud bang.

The pig monsters heard the noise and looked in Lu Bubu's direction. Xie Liang heard one of the pig monsters shouting that this was their "two-legged sheep" that had gotten lost the day before yesterday, and asked the other pig monsters to help catch it, saying that they wanted to fry it.

"Run! Run in different directions!" Lu Bubu shouted and ran towards the road.

In the blink of an eye, Lu Bubu disappeared without a trace as if he had started running.

The pig monsters looked at each other, then looked in the direction where Lu Bubu disappeared, and then looked at Xie Liang. Xie Liang was so scared that he quickly pulled Xu He back to the back of the bungalow.

The pig monsters were probably drunk and did not chase after them. Instead, they sat back at the square table, continuing to eat, drink and shout with their bottles of wine.

Seeing that Lu Bubu had gone back, Xie Liang and Xu He also started to walk back.

When they were almost at Baihu's house, Xie Liang found a lot of wild taro on the side of the road and quickly dragged Xu He to dig up some. He took out the blue gown from his bag and filled his pockets with it.

After Xie Liang finished his work, he patted the mud off his trouser legs and said, "Tomorrow's food is settled!"

Xu He suddenly put his finger to the tip of his nose and rubbed it lightly. He looked at Xu He with a puzzled look.

Xu He's face looked a little pale under the moonlight. Xie Liang couldn't help but wonder if he was hungry. After all, he had hardly seen him eat anything in the past two days.

Xie Liang thought about it and asked, "Brother He, are you hungry?"

Xu He looked at him and whispered, "No, there's mud on the tip of your nose."

When Xie Liang and Xu He returned to Baihu's house, Lu Bubu was already sitting in the living room.

The living room was lit with warm yellow incandescent lights, and the obese trio were still snoring loudly. Mu Jin hadn't gone to sleep yet and was chatting with Lu Bubu.

When Lu Bubu saw Xie Liang coming back, he handed a document in his hand to Xie Liang and said, "Brother, take a look at this."

Xie Liang took the ID, turned around and poured the wild taro in his gown pocket into the corner of the living room, then carefully looked at the ID in the light.

After looking at it for a while, Xie Liang said, "It looks like a work ID card. The pattern on it should be from a factory."

"Mu Jin said so too. She found this in her bedroom. Anyway, we can't understand it." Lu Bubu said with a yawn.

"So many taro! Little brother, where did you dig them?" Mu Jin asked in surprise.

"Well, I dug it up on the side of the road when I came back. If you're hungry, just cook it and eat it." Xie Liang said as he returned the certificate to Lu Bubu.

Lu Bubu took the certificate and said, "By the way, those pig monsters said that the truck will enter the village the day after tomorrow. Should we wait for it for the next two days?"

Xie Liang was so sleepy that he couldn't help but yawn and said, "Let's wait. There are too many forks in the road at the entrance of the village. It's impossible to tell which way the car is going. But we still have to go to the village entrance to wait in the afternoon, just in case it comes tomorrow."

After returning to the small room, Xie Liang and Xu He lay down on the fur-covered wooden bed together. Xie Liang carefully draped his cyan-blue robe over them both, and soon fell asleep.

Xu He tilted his head and looked at Xie Liang in the light coming from the living room. He found that there was a small piece of black mud on Xie Liang's face, which was particularly conspicuous on his fair skin.

He wanted to reach out and help Xie Liang wipe it off, but he was afraid of waking him up, so he finally held back.

Xu He didn't know how long he looked at Xie Liang before he gradually fell asleep to the sound of Xie Liang's even breathing.
