Chapter 35: Allow Your Worship

Chapter 35: Allow Your Worship

Xie Liang found himself suddenly on a gravel ground, surrounded by people who were shouting loudly: "Smash him to death, smash him to death" and "Anyone who doesn't do anything will be locked up and executed."

Who was it going to kill? Xie Liang steadied himself and looked forward. Not far away, an old man in a white robe was kneeling on the ground. He had his back to Xie Liang, and the back of his white-haired head was covered in bloody holes from being smashed by the stone.

"Hurry up and kill him, why don't you do it yet!" A man next to him questioned Xie Liang.

"He won't do anything! Catch him quickly, he's in cahoots with that old man! He's a member of a cult!" A woman in the crowd shouted.

"That's right! Catch him!"

"Kill him! Hang him! Hang him on the gallows!"

The shouts from the crowd for hanging him grew louder and louder, and Xie Liang was then pinned to the ground by several people.

"I'll ask you again, why didn't you hit him?" the man who pinned Xie Liang down asked.

Why did they hit the old man? Xie Liang was full of doubts. Where was this? Why did the scene before him seem so familiar?

Xie Liang's silent attitude completely angered the crowd. He was soon tied up by several people and thrown next to the kneeling old man.

The stones that were originally thrown at the old man were turned around and thrown at Xie Liang.

The old man lay dying beside Xie Liang, his face calm. However, Xie Liang was in excruciating pain from the stone and soon fell to the ground.

It hurts, it hurts so much! Where have I seen this scene before? Xie Liang racked his brains to think, when suddenly a stone hit him between the eyebrows.

That's right! This is the scene in the mural! I just turned off the lights and lay back in bed, but now I've entered the world of the painting.

Xie Liang woke up instantly and mobilized all his strength to struggle free from the ropes.

A warm sensation spread across his abdomen, the power of the burning stone. Threads of heat flowed through his limbs and bones. He exerted force suddenly, and the rope cracked slightly.

Xie Liang tried his best to keep the rope tight. He clenched his bound hands into fists and struggled to break free.

The sound of tiny fibers breaking continued, and soon, the rope was actually broken by him!

At this time, the number of stones hitting Xie Liang gradually decreased, and he felt lighter and lighter.

In the end, he only saw the old man giving him a dying smile - a compassionate and loving smile.

Xie Liang woke up in bed, and it was still pitch black around him.

The lingering pain in his body was incredibly real. He reached out and touched the part that had been hit by the rock, gasping in pain.

Since eating the burning stone, Xie Liang's body has become much stronger than before. If he had his previous physical strength, he might really die in that mural.

When he touched the wound, he could feel the warmth and moisture. Some parts were swollen, and some parts were hit by the sharp edges of the stones, leaving blood pits of various sizes.

It seemed that the stones had really hit him, and the wounds were still there even after he woke up.

Suddenly, there were footsteps at the door, and the sound of cold weapons like axes or swords scraping the floor. The footsteps sounded heavy and didn't sound like they could be made by humans.

Xie Liang lay motionless on the bed, cold sweat oozing out of his body, soaking his shirt.

With a creaky sound, someone in the corridor opened the door.

The heavy footsteps all turned in the direction of the sound, and then a shrill male scream echoed throughout the castle.

After just a moment, the scream stopped abruptly, and the voice seemed to be from the man named Zhou Gui.

Then, there were more shuffling footsteps in the corridors and long halls. Those things were walking back and forth as if they were on patrol.

Xie Liang took out the fluorescent watch face and found that it was already past three in the morning.

This sound continued until five in the morning and only stopped when dawn was about to break.

After everything around him quieted down, Xie Liang fell into a drowsy sleep.

He didn't wake up until after eight o'clock.

Through the light from the crack in the door, Xie Liang discovered that the white shirt he was wearing was covered with tiny holes and mottled bloodstains.

He opened the door and walked out. Several Adventers were already sitting on the sofa in the long hall on the second floor.

Long Qingye was also among them. He was staring at Xie Liang meaningfully, and Xie Liang felt uncomfortable under his gaze.

Wen Qingqing saw the clothes on Xie Liang and walked towards him. She frowned and asked, "Did you hear any noise last night?"

Xie Liang remembered those screams and nodded.

Wen Qingqing turned around and asked the other people sitting on the sofa. Except for Long Qingye who remained silent, everyone else shook their heads in confusion.

"What's that noise? I slept until dawn." Huang Jinwu's face was rosy and it seemed that he had slept well last night.

Wen Qingqing pretended nothing happened and said, "Nothing, maybe I heard it wrong."

Afterwards, Wen Qingqing found an opportunity to pull Xie Liang to the corner of the long hall on the second floor: "I heard Zhou Gui's screams last night. Although they were only a few short ones, I am very sure."

"I heard it too. He seems to live next door to you?"

"Well, I woke up and knocked on his door. He acted like nothing had happened and told me not to disturb his sleep."

Wen Qingqing's face gradually turned pale as she finished speaking. "After the scream, I remember a crunching sound, like a large beast eating."

At this moment, Zhou Gui's door opened with a "creak". He stretched at the door as if nothing had happened and walked towards the long hall.

Wen Qingqing's voice trembled: "It's so weird... so weird, he actually acts like nothing happened!"

Xie Liang whispered, "Don't tell anyone yet. Pretend you know nothing. Do you remember the mural on the wall to the left of the dining table on the first floor?"

"Well, is it the painting of the devil in human clothing blending into the crowd?"

Xie Liang nodded: "Someone must have sneaked in and replaced Zhou Gui."

Wen Qingqing looked at Zhou Gui with fear.

"By the way, what happened to your injury?"

Xie Liang told her what happened in his dream last night.

"Maybe it has something to do with you falling asleep? I remember I took a nap around five in the morning and didn't dream."

The two chatted for a while and then returned to the long hall one after another.

The sun has risen, and the warm sunlight shines on the transparent floor-to-ceiling windows on the second floor, dispelling the darkness brought by the night.

Everyone stood up from the sofa and continued to observe the murals on the wall.

At around eleven o'clock in the morning, the gate of the castle was opened from the outside. It was the old nun from last night.

She was carrying a large basket, the contents of which were covered with a white cloth.

The old nun placed the basket on the horseshoe-shaped dining table, and took out some plates and cutlery from the cupboard nearby, setting out twelve sets of tableware.

After setting the table, she took the food out of the basket one by one - some French bread, cheese and meat. She began to distribute the food among the twelve plates, each with the same food, but with very small portions.

She seemed to be in a good mood and was humming an unknown tune. After distributing the food, she picked up the basket and turned to leave.

Huang Jinwu saw this and grabbed her clothes and asked, "Hey! You old woman, there are thirteen of us, and you only prepared twelve. Where did the other one go?"

The old nun shook off Huang Jinwu, looked at him with a smile, then picked up the basket and walked out of the door silently, locked the door and left.

After seeing the twelve servings of food on the table, Xie Liang became more certain of his guess.

There were thirteen of them, and twelve portions of food meant that one person would not have anything to eat. However, after the old nun left, Zhou Gui hurriedly sat down at the dining table and finished one of the portions in one bite.

Hong Guo glared at Zhou Gui and cursed, "You bitch! You ate one portion without saying a word. How are we going to divide the rest of the food?"

Zhou Gui didn't say anything, but looked at Hong Guo with a smile, his eyes full of greed.

"If you ask me, everyone should draw lots like we did last night, and only those who draw the lot can eat," said Wen Qingqing.

Long Qingye glanced at Zhou Gui meaningfully, then walked to the middle of the dining table and sat down: "To be fair, let's draw lots."

Hong Guo quickly took the folded paper and threw it onto the dining table: "There are twelve slips here. Except for Zhou Gui, each of you draws one. The one with 'none' written on it is the one who didn't get any food."

Xie Liang picked up one at random and opened it. There was no writing on the note. After showing the note to everyone, he sat down on the dining chair.

The one who drew the paper with "None" written on it was Huang Jinwu. He shouted in dissatisfaction and asked others to give him the food.

Huang Jinwu snatched the note from Wu Jianshui, who had drawn the food, and then he stuffed the note with "none" written on it into the hands of the weak Wu Jianshui.

"You! How could you do this? That photo is obviously mine!" Wu Jianshui shouted angrily at Huang Jinwu.

"Hmph, this is the one I was going to take. What's yours and mine?! It's mine now!" Huang Jinwu arrogantly threw the note on the table and sat down at the dining table.

Just as he reached out to take the plate of food in front of him, Long Qingye, who was sitting on his left, moved the plate towards Wu Jianshui outside the dining table.

Long Qingye said unhappily, "We drew lots for the sake of fairness."

"So what! I've tolerated you for a long time. You think you're the boss just because you have some money. I won't tolerate you!" Huang Jinwu said, raising his fist and hitting Long Qingye.

Long Qingye dodged slightly to the side, grabbed his swinging arm, and dragged him to the open space on the side at an extremely fast speed.

Then, Long Qingye began to beat Huang Jinwu unilaterally.

The burly Huang Jinwu had no power to resist under his hands and could only let him press him to the ground and rub him at will.

Xie Liang knew that Long Qingye must have some real skills, otherwise he wouldn't be the leader of the dark organization. But he didn't expect that this person's physical strength was so strong that Huang Jinwu was unable to fight back.

Xie Liang couldn't help but wonder if Xu He could beat the man in front of him.

After fighting enough, Long Qingye stood up from the ground. When he saw Xie Liang's gaze, he sneered.

Xie Liang finally reacted and quickly looked away.

Long Qingye sat down in the empty seat next to Xie Liang and ate his small amount of food slowly and leisurely.

After eating, he wiped the corner of his mouth with his sleeve and looked at Xie Liang: "Your worship is allowed."

Xie Liang was full of doubts and looked at Long Qingye with a complicated expression. He wanted to ask, "Are you okay? Do you have narcissism?", but he held back.

However, his hesitant look looked shy in Long Qingye's eyes.
