Chapter 50 The Grave is Dug

Chapter 50 The Grave is Dug

As soon as Xie Liang and Xu He came out of the shed, they saw several members of the Sang family running down the bluestone steps in a hurry.

Among them, Chen Xiu'e ran too fast, missed a step, and rolled down the stairs.

Li Jianguo, who was standing by, hurried over to help Chen Xiu'e up: "What happened? Are you okay?"

"Something happened in there! So scary... woooo"

Chen Xiu'e hugged Li Jianguo tightly and sobbed.

Li Jianguo seemed not to hear what she said at all, and his eyes were fixed on the white area on her chest.

Chen Xiu'e seemed to want to leave, but as soon as she moved, she started shouting, "Wuwu... I... I think I twisted my foot."

Xie Liang walked towards her: "You just said something happened, what happened?"

Chen Xiu'e trembled and said in a delicate voice, "He's pretending to be dead... He's pretending to be dead."

Just as Chen Xiu'e finished speaking, hurried footsteps were heard on the bluestone steps again. It was the funeral musicians who ran out of the gatehouse in a panic.

A funeral musician ran too fast and fell down the stairs. After he got up, he didn't even bother to pick up the suona that had fallen to the side and ran away in a panic.

Seeing this, Xie Liang and Xu He took two steps at a time and walked up the long green stairs.

Li Jianguo released his arm around Chen Xiu'e's slender waist and prepared to rush over with Xie Liang and the others to take a look. But as soon as he let go, Chen Xiu'e moaned and softened.

Li Jianguo's waist was hugged tightly by Chen Xiu'e, and he was reluctant to push away this soft body for a moment.

"Please... carry me back to the village, please. My ankle hurts so much." Chen Xiu'e begged.

Li Jianguo looked at Chen Xiu'e's tearful face and the softness pressed against his chest. Without hesitation, he carried Chen Xiu'e on his back and walked towards the village at the foot of the mountain.

As soon as Xie Liang and Xu He arrived at the mourning hall, they saw Zhao Batian covered in blood, half leaning against the wall with his hand covering one shoulder.

Zhao Mingze's wife, Chen Dongmei, was overcome with emotion, her face filled with tears. She slumped down beside Zhao Batian, slapping him repeatedly with both hands: "Why don't you just die! You're the one who deserves to die, you evil spirit!"

Zhao Batian impatiently waved his arm to push her away. After Chen Dongmei got up from the ground, she staggered towards the coffin on the main seat.

The Yin-Yang master was sitting on the coffin, constantly patting the sides of the coffin with a wet whisk.

Chen Dongmei pushed the Yin-Yang Master like crazy, shouting at the top of her lungs, "Come down! Come down! Please open the coffin, please open the coffin... Mingze is still in there, please save him!"

Mr. Yin Yang opened his eyes and looked at Xie Liang and the other man, saying coldly, "Quickly pull her away! Do you want to die here?"

Xie Liang was confused: "What happened?"

Chen Dongmei broke down and cried, "Mingze was dragged into the coffin by his mother. Please help me open the coffin and save him!"

Before Xie Liang could react, Zhao Batian on the side said fiercely: "Damn it! Let's see who dares! If you open the coffin, everyone in the village will be finished!"

Then, Zhao Batian softened his tone and said to Chen Dongmei, "Sister-in-law, you just saw it. My brother died before Mom dragged him in! Don't get in the way here! Hurry and leave!"

As soon as Zhao Batian finished speaking, Chen Dongmei rushed towards him like crazy, tearing his clothes. "You dead man! God damn you, you will not die well! It was obviously you who was strangled by my mother, why are you still alive! If Mingze hadn't tried to save you, he wouldn't have been in trouble! I will kill you!"

It seems that the old woman had come back to life and dragged Zhao Mingze into the coffin.

The woman's nails scratched bloody marks on Zhao Batian's face, and Zhao Batian covered his face and howled.

"You damn bitch, you have no shame! You're looking for death!" Zhao Batian said, then suddenly waved his hand and pushed her hard against the pillar beside him.

Xie Liang hurried forward and tried to hold Chen Dongmei's head to prevent her from hitting the hard pillar. Xu He behind him took the lead, quickly passed him, and held the woman's head steadily.

In the end, the farce ended with Xu He knocking the woman unconscious. Xie Liang took the limp woman and put her on the open space next to the door of the mourning hall.

Next, Zhao Batian handed over all matters related to the funeral to Mr. Yin Yang and Xie Liang and his group. He had only one request, which was to bury his mother as soon as possible.

After Zhao Batian finished his explanation, he limped away, covering his wounds.

The mourning hall suddenly became so quiet that it was a bit eerie. Mr. Yin Yang was sitting on the coffin lid, as if he was meditating.

Xie Liang broke the silence and said, "Sir, are you sitting there to suppress the corpse?"

Mr. Yin Yang still squinted his eyes and didn't open them. "You two go to the back mountain and call my apprentice back. On the way, check to see if they have finished digging the grave. If not, you two can stay there and help. Make sure they finish digging before dawn."

Xie Liang agreed, and after he and Xu He helped the fainted woman into the shed and put her down, they set off to the back mountain to find Lu Bubu and his group.

Li Jianguo and Chen Xiu'e were making love in bed, sweating profusely as if they were plowing the fields.

Suddenly, the door was kicked open and Zhao Batian rushed in with a kitchen knife in his hand!

"Ahhh!" Chen Xiu'e hid behind Li Jianguo in fear.

"Bitch! You bastard! I'll kill you, you adulterer!" Zhao Batian's eyes were red as he rushed towards Li Jianguo, waving a kitchen knife wildly.

Li Jianguo quickly jumped up from the bed, picked up a stool beside him and kept dodging. Seeing that he was slashed several times by Zhao Batian, he was furious and started to fight back.

The sky was completely dark. There was not a single star in the sky. It was pitch black and it looked like a rainstorm was about to happen.

Xie Liang and Xu He were walking on the mountain road leading to the back mountain with flashlights in hand. Suddenly, they saw a beam of flashlight shining through the woods on the hillside ahead. They quickened their pace and walked towards the light.

The two of them quickly followed the light and reunited with Lu Bubu and his group.

"Hey! Young man! Why are you in such a hurry? What happened?" Lu Bubu came towards Xie Liang covered in mud.

"This stinky Taoist priest is really awesome. He made me, a woman, dig the grave." Wang Li shook off the dirt on her body and complained to Xie Liang.

"Ignore her, Xie Liang, what's wrong?" Shi Xiaoyin asked.

Xie Liang hurriedly told them what had happened to the old woman's corpse, and asked the Yin-Yang master's apprentice to go back first.

After hearing what Xie Liang said, Mr. Yin Yang's apprentice hurriedly put the compass in his hand back into the cloth bag and hurried down the mountain.

Lu Bubu wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, "Brother, you two came at the perfect time! We were just about to finish the work and you two showed up!"

Shi Xiaoyin punched Lu Bubu on the shoulder and said, "Stop talking nonsense. Hurry up and finish this and go back."

Soon, everyone finished the final finishing work. After packing up, they started to walk back hurriedly with flashlights.

When Xie Liang and the others returned to the shed, Chen Dongmei had already left.

It was almost dawn, and the wind was blowing fiercely. The sky was covered with dark clouds, and lightning flashed from time to time, as if foreshadowing the coming of a storm.
