Cen Yu had just answered the phone when he heard such an explosive statement.
—Why do I get this feeling of "Madam, you probably don't want your husband to know about this, do you?"
Xie Jinshen's expression changed slightly when the call connected, which the other person thought was because he was afraid of his threat.
"Besides, wasn't that person only with you for the money?" he continued.
It seemed that because he hadn't been here for so long, and hadn't seen Xie Jinshen for so long, he had gradually forgotten what kind of person Xie Jinshen really was.
As he spoke, he even began to gloat, "Your boyfriend had no money, and now you're a minor celebrity..." He looked at Xie Jinshen with ill intent, his eyes full of malice, "You didn't pay for all the money during the audition, did you?"
Xie Jinshen glanced at the still-on call icon and at the silent Cen Yu on the other end.
"Wait for me a moment," he whispered to Cen Yu.
Then I temporarily muted it to make sure the sound from here wouldn't travel over.
Xie Jinshen held his phone.
This courtyard was where he played as a child—and some things that were out of place with the rest of the mansion were still placed here.
For example, a baseball bat casually placed in a corner.
Xie Jinshen slowly walked over... At first, his cousin didn't know what Xie Jinshen was going to do, until the man slightly unbuttoned his suit jacket and prepared to break his own leg with a baseball bat, then he realized that something terrible was about to happen!
"Xie Jinshen, how dare you!"
He cursed and prepared to run away!
Just kidding, the baseball bat in Xie Jinshen's hand is metal!
Xie Jinshen didn't care about the way the man was running around. "One minute." He smiled at this distant cousin whose name he couldn't even remember. "Don't call me cousin... I don't have a younger brother."
This man's body had long been weakened by wine and women; how could he possibly outrun Xie Jinshen?
He was almost grabbed by the neck and stomped on by Xie Jinshen, who completely ignored his pathetic appearance with tears streaming down his face and decisively broke his arm.
Then he kicked the other person away.
“You should be glad…” Xie Jinshen threw away the baseball bat, “There are no pliers here.”
He chuckled, "Otherwise, I'll pull out all your teeth."
My cousin clutched his arm and wailed on the ground—
"Xie Jinshen! You're insane!"
"You're crazy!"
"Who would like a lunatic?!"
The commotion quickly attracted the attention of those outside, and the man's family members rushed over... Upon seeing their backers arrive, the man wailed even more loudly and then took the opportunity to complain.
Xie Jinshen found it amusing.
As expected, after hearing the reason, his family members did not blame Xie Jinshen as the man had hoped; instead, they slapped the man across the face.
"How dare you talk to your cousin like that?!"
Xie Jinshen had no intention of watching the farce any longer... he simply took his phone and walked away.
...
When the call was reconnected, Cen Yu was still sitting on a chair in the film crew's office, roasting sweet potatoes.
It's so cold here. Even with all the warm clothing, it's still hard to keep your hands and feet cold after filming.
Although the film crew installed a lot of heating equipment, the most popular item among them was the charcoal brazier that was burning in an open area.
Perhaps to make the fire more fun, some people prepared wire mesh to put on it so that everyone could roast sweet potatoes or fruit.
It can be described as the original version of "brewing tea around a stove".
Cen Yu sat beside the charcoal brazier, one hand in his pocket, the other using chopsticks to stir the sweet potato—
Who were you just talking to?
“A relative,” Xie Jinshen’s voice came from the other end of the phone.
Cen Yu didn't seem to care about the other person's identity. He kept stirring the sweet potato with his chopsticks, and after a moment asked, "When are you coming back?"
Xie Jinshen remained silent for a while on the other end of the phone.
Cen Yu looked at the sweet potato that had been burned by the flames and quickly moved it aside. "Aren't you going to come back?"
“How could that be?” Xie Jinshen finally spoke.
Xie Jinshen seemed to be hesitating about something; all he could hear was his almost silent breathing…
"Xiao Yu".
Finally, Xie Jinshen spoke.
"Have you... thought about me these past few days?"
He seemed genuinely puzzled.
"...Why didn't you call and ask me where I went?"
Cen Yu paused slightly, and even though he knew Xie Jinshen couldn't see him, he still put down his chopsticks.
"Would you be willing to let me know where you went?"
This was a pass-the-blank answer, and Xie Jinshen couldn't possibly be unaware of it.
Even when faced with such an answer, Xie Jinshen still said, "I will tell you whatever you want to know."
I won't ask you where you're going.
"Because I know you'll always come back."
Cen Yu leaned back in his chair. There was no one around the fire, only him... But when he looked up, he saw Gu Hanyin holding a hot coffee.
Gu Hanyin stood there, listening to what he said for an unknown amount of time.
Cen Yu looked up at him, put her hand inside her coat, and made a "shh" gesture to him.
He knew that what he said was really too much... Cen Yu thought that if a normal person heard this, they would probably have already cursed Cen Yu as a scumbag who was good at playing the silent treatment.
After becoming famous, she started to act pretentious, thinking that acting in Gu Hanyin's movie would make her a star?
The promises she made to him when she tricked him into voting for her and promising to live a good life with him felt like they came from a past life.
Cen Yu was also planning this—
