Cen Yu still remembered the delicate-looking man's provocative remark that she could call the police to arrest him.
He had once heard that if someone died unjustly, they could take a token and return to the mortal realm to claim their life.
He looked at the person in front of him, unsure whether the other person was an "illegal immigrant" or came through legitimate channels.
The cigarette in his hand had finally burned to the end. Cen Yu raised his hand and looked at the cigarette butt. Then, under the man's gaze, he stuck out his tongue, placed the cigarette butt on his tongue, and then rolled it up and swallowed it.
The unexpected action left the other party momentarily bewildered.
He seemed not to understand why Cen Yu was doing this, and then he looked at Cen Yu and suddenly laughed.
And the smile on his face grew wider and wider, making him look even more like the possessed person than he did.
Cen Yu looked at him, then his smile faded. Under the other's hesitant gaze, he stuck out his tongue and said, "I'm not hurt."
The person on the other end seemed to realize something and was about to reach out to stop Cen Yu.
Cen Yu rolled over and fell directly into the well behind him... The icy well water instantly submerged him, and soon he felt himself sinking deeper and deeper as the well water gradually entered his nasal cavity and lungs.
"It's fake," Cen Yu thought, "just a smokescreen."
Suddenly, he felt someone pull him up, and then he gasped for breath and found himself standing on the porch of his house.
Beside her were Shen Wei and another man she didn't recognize.
"You're awake," the unfamiliar man suddenly said. "You're quite alert."
Cen Yu touched his chest; he could still feel the discomfort of water choking in his lungs… He glanced at Chen Wei, “When did you get out?”
“A little earlier than you,” Shen Wei said, glancing at his brother before whispering, “This is my brother.”
"How did you find out?" Shen Wei asked Cen Yu with some interest. "I was just thinking about whether I should collect your body."
When Shen Wei left that illusion, he found that they were still in the elevator, but the elevator floor had already reached the floor where Cen Yu's house was located.
It seemed that because they had stayed there for too long, the property management staff even spoke in the elevator, asking if Shen Wei needed any help.
Fortunately, the four people who were blinded by the ghost were all standing properly, otherwise Shen Wei really didn't know how he would have gotten away with it.
After he finally managed to get them out of the elevator, one in each hand, the first to regain consciousness was the neighbor. He ignored what Shen Wei was saying and ran towards the emergency exit as if he had seen a ghost... Pei Heng and Chu Yichen were still unconscious and were probably still stuck in the corridor on the 13th floor.
What Shen Wei fears most is Cen Yu.
He discovered that the other person seemed to have fallen into a deeper world.
In that living room, the other party and "Pei Leyun" suddenly disappeared. Shen Wei was worried that Cen Yu had been completely bewitched by that thing and was trapped in a hallucination from which he could not wake up. That's why he called his brother again to urge him to come and save him quickly.
"There's nothing we can do." That was the first thing Shen Wei's brother said when he arrived.
“Unless he realizes it himself, he won’t be able to come back.” His brother glanced at Cen Yu and said, “The other side doesn’t want to let him come back.”
"Aren't you the best at using violence to fight violence?" Shen Wei questioned.
“He didn’t illegally cross the border,” his brother said. “Besides, he hasn’t harmed anyone, has he?”
His brother told Shen Wei, "There is a solution."
"What."
“Once he kills someone, I can kill him.” Wen Jingyao made a gesture of raising and lowering a knife.
Shen Wei: "..."
He also realized that what they were facing was unusual. He initially thought it was an evil spirit harming people, but when he tried to violently deal with it, he discovered that the thing was shrouded in golden light, probably having come up with something to seek revenge.
Shen Wei originally thought his brother had a solution, but it turned out to be the same.
Thinking of this, Shen Wei looked at Cen Yu, who hadn't reacted yet, and felt that his bad luck had ruined him.
Cen Yu quickly realized that the stranger was Wen Jingyao, the exorcist from the original work. He made a long story short, explaining what he had seen, and finally said, "I was just trying."
"He said so much, but didn't take any action directly, which obviously shows he had some reservations."
The other party so hated unfaithful men, and he was obviously an unfaithful scumbag in the other party's eyes, so why didn't he just kill him? Cen Yu felt a little strange at the time.
That person clearly had many opportunities to make a move.
When he bent down to look at the well opening, or when he sat on the edge of the well, the other party could have made a move, but did nothing.
Shen Wei almost fainted upon hearing this. "You're sitting by the well, fishing for law enforcement?"
“Let’s give it a try,” Cen Yu said. “Then I asked him if I could smoke.”
“This is his little world. He clearly minds, but my cigarettes can still be lit easily…” Cen Yu took out a cigarette pack from his pocket. “So I think he doesn’t have that much control over this world.”
"He implied that I would be trapped here and die a miserable and hopeless death."
"Just like the person who jumped off the building."
“But there are so many ways he could kill me, why would he choose the most troublesome one?” Cen Yu pointed to himself. “So I think the other party might be hiding some truth.”
"For example, this world has flaws."
"He can manipulate that scumbag into jumping off a building because he was indeed killed by him. Revenge is no problem for him. I don't know him. If he were truly a demon, he wouldn't need to waste time talking to me; he could have just killed me in the elevator."
“I happened to have a cigarette butt in my hand, so I decided to give it a try.” Cen Yu stuck out the tip of his tongue and gestured as if he were pressing a cigarette butt against the surface. “I told myself in my heart that it would be a lie to say it wouldn’t hurt.”
