“I don’t live here,” the boy said. “The shopping street is boring; it’s full of people who keep repeating the same things over and over again.”
He pointed to the back of the shopping street, "I usually stay there."
Seemingly realizing he had said too much, the boy walked past Cen Yu and prepared to move forward.
Cen Yu reached out to stop him. "I just met a head, and the head said it was fooled, and everyone else was fooled." Cen Yu looked at the boy. "Do you know what that means?"
"I don't know," the boy said simply.
He slapped Cen Yu's hand away, took a few steps, and suddenly turned back. "Is Ryan alright?"
Upon hearing Ryan's name, Cen Yu thought for a moment before realizing that the other person was referring to the host inside the tower. "He should be alright?" he said uncertainly, but at least he looked better than the boy who had turned into a non-human.
Looking at the boy's expression, Cen Yu guessed that he had suddenly appeared because he wanted to ask about Ryan. "Are you Ryan's brother?" he asked, looking at the boy's familiar blond hair.
“I’m his older brother,” the boy said sternly.
“Don’t go any further, kid,” he said to Cen Yu.
"Those big shots in District One are all bad people."
He looked at the shopping street and thought, "These are all fools who have been deceived by those big shots."
After saying that, he ignored Cen Yu and walked straight towards the mutated area ahead, as if he had only appeared to ask Ryan how he was doing.
Cen Yu squatted on the ground for a while before standing up.
Perhaps because he hadn't returned yet, He Yuxing finally couldn't hold back any longer. She hugged the bouncing head, left the DVD store, and found Cen Yu standing at the exit of the shopping street.
"The exit is open?"
Cen Yu suspected that the entrance would only open the moment these monsters appeared. He was about to call the other team members when he found that Jiang Min had also come out of the shop.
"The exit is open?" Jiang Min also saw the exit.
He quickly noticed the head that He Yuxing was holding in her arms. "Is this a customer from your shop?"
"More or less," Cen Yu said.
Upon seeing this, Jiang Min immediately went to call the other team members, and soon they all gathered at the entrance of the shopping street.
However, apart from the monkey and one team member who stayed in the barbershop, no one else could see the exit.
"Boss, I think there's still some fog blocking the way here," a team member said to Jiang Min, rubbing his eyes hard.
Others also said that they couldn't see an exit at all.
The monkey glanced at the exit and muttered, "It looks so clear to me."
Jiang Min directly asked Monkey and the barber shop team what they had encountered in the shop. Monkey said that he had encountered a man who came to buy bread at his shop. After closing time, the man suddenly appeared in his shop again and said that he was very hungry and wanted to eat bread.
He said he was very hungry and wanted to eat bread.
"Then I discovered that his stomach was open... and there was a hand inside."
The monkey said, "I killed him before leaving the shop."
Jiang Min then looked at the team members in the barbershop. They said that a customer came to their shop for a haircut, and after closing time, the customer suddenly appeared at the shop entrance, holding scissors and looking like a monkey. In the end, they killed the monster before leaving.
Jiang Min nodded.
"Could it be that we have to kill these monsters before we can see the exit?" the monkey guessed, looking at the head He Yuxing was holding. "Did you kill them?"
His mind went blank the moment he finished speaking, and he started to get agitated—
"I'll kill you!" she yelled, "You stinking monkey!"
monkey:"?!"
"Holy crap! Brains can talk!!"
Cen Yu pressed his head. "Yeah, she's a bit special." He briefly recounted his experience at the DVD store.
The monkey exclaimed, "Are you in decryption mode?" He glanced at his head again, "So you're going to take her with you?"
Jiang Min briefly recounted his experience at the shop. After hiding for a while, he realized that hiding from the men selling their bodies wasn't a solution, so he simply opened the blue glass door—
Then he discovered that the other person's clothes were completely empty.
“I noticed his clothes were all empty underneath,” Jiang Min said after a moment of silence. “The box contained his own flesh.”
The fresh, good meat that the other party kept offering them to taste was all cut from their own bodies.
The monkey made a disgusted face upon hearing this.
“I heard her say that all the meat in your shop comes from a shady factory,” Cen Yu said, pointing to the head in He Yuxing’s arms, indicating that she was the one who said it.
"Hmm." Jiang Min recalled the scene, "After he came in, he went into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and started looking for meat to eat."
"The entire restaurant's freezer is full of meat."
"As he ate, his body started to grow fat... I eventually found a pig at the very bottom of the freezer."
Realizing that Jiang Min hadn't finished speaking, Cen Yu and the others waited quietly.
“The pig was completely hollowed out, and inside was a human figure curled up.” Jiang Min glanced at everyone and continued, “That person was him.”
"...So he's the real owner of the restaurant?" Cen Yu asked. "Or is he also a victim?"
“He must be the boss,” Jiang Min said. “I saw a photo of him in a small room in the restaurant. There was a young man in the photo with that head.”
Cen Yu lifted that head. "Her?"
“Yes,” Jiang Min said, taking out the photo and handing it to Cen Yu.
Cen Yu glanced at him and recognized him as the man who had come to her DVD shop before. The man in the photo became even more furious.
“It seems they know each other,” Jiang Min said.
The man started cursing again, calling the man a liar, a liar from District One, who had cheated them all.
"She fooled everyone?" Jiang Min asked. "Besides her and the boss, who else could it be?"
“I don’t know.” Cen Yu handed the head along with the photo to Jiang Min. “She said everyone was deceived, and she was also turned into a monster by this person.”
Jiang Min stuffed the photo into his pocket, and the head immediately calmed down in his hand.
He held up the head, asking, "How could you have been fooled by him?"
"None of your business! You blind bastard!" the head cursed.
Jiang Min: "..." What a poor quality head.
He turned his head back to Cen Yu, "It seems we have to deal with the things in the shop, or discover some truth, in order to open the entrance to the shopping street."
He looked at the other team members and said, "Let's take care of the monsters in the shop first."
“She said that man was a nobleman from District One,” Cen Yu said. “Why would a nobleman from District One come here?”
Even if this shopping street wasn't a mutant zone before, it was still considered wilderness.
He assumed these nobles would only go to the VIP boxes inside the tower...
“Cen Yu,” Jiang Min suddenly spoke.
"I have something to say to you." He glanced at He Yuxing. "Could you ask your boyfriend to leave for a moment?"
