There was no emergency exit in the building in Zone 1; they came up directly from the elevator shaft.
Cen Yu glanced at the pried-open elevator door. "You did this?"
“No.” He Yuxing thought for a moment, then, holding Cen Yu, he flapped his wings and placed him in the passageway on the top floor. “That head did it.”
The three of them split up. Following the system's instructions, Cen Yu led He Yuxing towards the room...
At this moment, the door to the top floor opened, revealing black hair that looked like a spider web.
Cen Yu stood at the door and barely saw Qiao and that head for a moment... until finally he found Qiao hanging on the spider web woven from hair.
Cen Yu walked over.
"Dead?" He looked at Joe's head stuck to the spider web.
Unexpectedly, the head suddenly opened its eyes... It glanced at Cen Yu, then turned its gaze away, flipping its eyelids upward to look at the woman on the other side.
He opened his mouth, but could no longer make a sound.
He stared at the other person for a long time. Cen Yu thought he would say something, but in the end he said nothing.
Joe's head hung there all alone on the spider web woven from black hair.
His eyelids rolled upwards, remaining frozen in the last moments before his death.
The head quickly jumped down from its own spiderweb and landed on Cen Yu's shoulder. "Where's your body?" Cen Yu asked.
The head showed an expression of disgust, seemingly not wanting its body, which had been treated by Lu Zhan.
Inside the room, countless screens could be seen, all displaying a quiet scene... Just like countless nights in District One before, these District One nobles only needed to enjoy themselves, and their "brains" did not issue any warnings.
Cen Yu glanced at the head entangled in the spider web, then walked over and plunged a knife right between its brows... He plunged the long knife into the ground, then pulled it out, casually wiping it a few times on the sofa next to him, "to prevent him from playing dead."
In his view, Joe was indeed dead.
The other person's body was slumped in one place, their hands intertwined, and it was unclear what they were doing.
"Ryan's performance has started too," the system told him in his head.
Cen Yu asked the system if it could project the images directly onto the screen in the top-floor room. The system muttered a few words, "It really knows how to order people around," and then projected all the matches inside the tower onto the screen.
Perhaps because this was a grand event exclusively for VIPs in the private rooms, the rooms were no longer hung high up or covered up, generously revealing the appearance of all the distinguished guests in Zone 1.
Cen Yu spotted a familiar face in Box 1, who was watching the match below the stage with great interest.
—This was a one-sided match.
Those warriors could barely get close to He Xueqing; they were beheaded within a few steps.
Behind them, on the screens representing opponents and win rates, were astonishingly large betting odds. No one cared about the lives of these warriors inside the tower—in the eyes of these people in Zone 1, they were perhaps not even as precious as the crickets used in cricket fighting.
As always, Ryan, with his blond hair perfectly styled and wearing his signature grey suit, was excitedly giving the full report.
He didn't care that blood splattered on his face and body.
At this point, no warriors wanted to challenge He Xueqing anymore, but the nobles above quickly offered huge amounts of credits and other benefits, requiring the warriors they sponsored to challenge He Xueqing.
Even though she was far away in District 1, Cen Yu felt as if she were actually there.
The venue was stuffy due to the lights, the crowd was noisy, and there were malicious glances from outside the cages.
Everyone is waiting for your defeat, waiting to devour your flesh and blood.
He Xueqing was still wearing the familiar Qingshan Middle School uniform, but He Yuxing stopped smiling as soon as he saw it. "Why would he leave the instance?"
Cen Yu genuinely didn't know. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Maybe it's just boredom."
"I want to go out for a walk."
"Bullshit, come out for a stroll!" Uncivilized language popped into He Yuxing's head. He knew that looking at ghosts meant he had bad intentions!
“His abilities are a bit terrifying,” He Yuxing said carefully, then hinted to Cen Yu, “I hope we don’t run into him in the future.”
Cen Yu: "..."
He turned to look at He Yuxing, who was about to turn into a "blood angel" beside him, and really couldn't understand how he had the nerve to say such a thing.
The revelry inside the tower continued, and the masked man had already brought out the warriors he sponsored.
However, it was clear that these warriors were no match for He Xueqing's attacks. This person was like a bugged boss in the dungeon, and the same was true after leaving the dungeon.
Soon the cage had become a living hell...
Ryan smiled and held up the microphone, indicating that he would come back after taking a short break.
He said he needed to change his clothes, as an even stronger warrior would emerge in the second half.
He hummed a song as he slowly descended from the lift.
He Yuxing always had something tied to his foot—which was why the nobles thought he would stay obediently on the arena.
Soon, some guests in the private room expressed that these warriors were evolving too slowly; they only wanted a safe and secure victory and were unwilling to try other mutation paths.
Perhaps worried that the audience might get too bored, the circular screen suspended inside the tower also showed backstage scenes, with Ryan smiling.
He looked at himself in the mirror, then wiped the blood off his body with a towel, and then changed his clothes, seemingly preparing for his next hosting duties.
Ryan quickly returned to the ring via the tunnel and the lift.
He Xueqing remained standing on the ring, seemingly lost in thought. Ryan's earpiece continuously carried instructions from the guests in the VIP box, demanding that the warriors deliver an even more "exciting" match.
