Time was of the essence, but fortunately they knew someone in the safe zone and found an opportunity to sneak in.
The entire safe zone was like the Garden of Eden. When the monkey saw the holographic projection, he was stunned for a few seconds. "...They really took us to the future world."
The prophet lived in the highest building in the safe zone.
That's the Tower of Babel, which belongs to the safe zone. Only prophets who can see the future can live there, and it's very difficult to sneak in.
They spent a lot of effort just getting close to the center of the safe zone. Song Xia and his brother put in a lot of effort, as did Monkey and Jiang Min. In the end, only Cen Yu successfully infiltrated the building that almost pierced through the clouds.
The entire building resembles an ancient tower for communicating with the gods, and combined with the holographic projections within the safe zone and the distant starships, it creates a sense of absurdity.
Everywhere, holographic projections displayed He Xueqing's familiar face.
With a gentle smile, he outlined the future with everyone in the safe zone, saying that they currently had three starships capable of traveling to higher-level civilizations, among which the "Golden Iris" was the first to be allowed to land, like an ark before the flood, capable of saving them all.
He smiled and promised everyone that they would reach a wonderful new world where there would be no pain or disaster, and they would live happily ever after.
For some reason, Cen Yu sensed that He Xueqing was lying.
Although the person in the holographic projection always had a gentle smile on his face, he always gave off a cold impression.
Cen Yu shook off these thoughts, used the items he obtained from those dungeons, spread his wings, and slowly flew to the top of the "Tower of Babel," then found an opportunity to sneak inside.
Strangely, there wasn't much security inside the tower.
It was as if the people in the safe zone didn't think anyone could get close to this building that symbolized the pinnacle of power.
Cen Yu carefully entered the building through the pipes... but he didn't know where He Xueqing was.
They could only try to conceal themselves and search slowly within the tall building.
After an unknown amount of time, Cen Yu found a room... and there was a familiar plastic whale specimen in the room.
Like the abandoned marine life exhibition hall from many years ago, the room has no superfluous decorations.
On this floor, Cen Yu discovered many familiar things, including classrooms that resembled those at the No. 1 Middle School in the city back then, and rooms that were very similar to the home he had never returned to.
In that dormitory, which was exactly the same as the one at the No. 1 High School in the city, Cen Yu finally saw He Xueqing.
He was wearing almost the same white clothes as in the holographic projection, and when he saw Cen Yu, he smiled a little more. "No one is allowed to come in here."
He looked at Cen Yu with a very calm expression, and his expression was exactly the same as that in the holographic projection. He seemed completely unsurprised that a stranger had come in.
Cen Yu frowned. He looked at He Xueqing in front of him without speaking. After a long while, he finally said, "Who are you?"
He Xueqing tilted her head and looked at him, seemingly not understanding what he meant. "I am a prophet."
He whispered to Cen Yu, "Are you a mutant?"
Mutants are not allowed to enter this area.
He turned his head to himself and said, "All mutants need to be eliminated."
Cen Yu walked straight over... and with a swift motion, the knife fell—
As expected, He Xueqing was not bleeding. He just looked at Cen Yu in confusion, and then looked down at the hole in his chest.
There was nothing inside; He Xueqing in front of me was just an empty shell.
He lay on the ground, staring at Cen Yu with his eyes open, still saying, "All mutant species need to be eliminated."
Cen Yu ignored the empty shell on the ground and searched in other directions within the building.
He discovered He Xueqing in countless rooms, each with a different appearance—the He Xueqing he first met, the He Xueqing they escaped together, and of course, the prophet from the safe zone propaganda.
He Xueqing knew some of these people, but not others.
Without exception, they all reached out and hugged Cen Yu...
Cen Yu looked at He Xueqing, who was holding him, and he could feel that her body was very cold, not at all like the temperature of a living person. "I shouldn't have let you leave that day."
This He Xueqing is the He Xueqing from that supermarket. He is holding Cen Yu and says, "I have been looking for you and have spent a lot of energy, but they still say you are dead."
Cen Yu didn't break free. He looked at He Xueqing in front of him and asked, "Them?"
"Who said I'm dead?"
He Xueqing smiled. "There are many people."
Cen Yu found it difficult to describe what these He Xueqings in the building were... but they were clearly not human; their bodies were too cold, as if they were a collection of countless memories.
But in the end, Cen Yu pushed He Xueqing away; he wanted to find the real one.
He Xueqing grabbed his wrist, and when Cen Yu turned around, he found that he was actually crying, but he still maintained the same smile as the "prophet" on his face.
“I’m too weak,” he said to Cen Yu. “I’ve been waiting for you to come back.”
"But in the end they told me there was nothing around the supermarket."
“In the years that followed, I saw photos of your death.” He Xueqing smiled, but tears streamed down her face. “I am not a prophet at all; I couldn’t even predict your future.”
“I’m still alive,” Cen Yu said, looking at He Xueqing, whom he had left in the supermarket. “Your prediction was right, I am indeed still alive.”
“You did indeed predict the end of the world…” he paused, “and saved both of us.”
