Extra Chapter: He Xueqing's Secret

He Xueqing will always remember the day he hid in the supermarket. He waited for so long, and he felt that Cen Yu would not lie to him and would definitely come back.

Until someone found him hiding in the supermarket and said to him—

"Holy crap, there are people here."

"What are you doing here?" someone asked, "Hiding from monsters?"

He Xueqing whispered, "I'm waiting for someone."

The man gave him a strange look and said, "Don't wait anymore."

There's no one outside; they've probably all run away.

“He won’t run away!” He Xueqing immediately retorted.

"But there's some blood on the ground at the supermarket entrance." The people who spoke exchanged glances, then didn't continue.

Afterwards, He Xueqing was led away from the supermarket by this group of people—probably because they felt his ability to predict the future was somewhat useful. He knew that this group of people were using him, but as long as Cen Yu was found, he was willing to do anything.

He thought that Cen Yu was so capable and lucky, he couldn't possibly have died so easily outside the supermarket... In the future he had seen before, there was no such thing as Cen Yu's death.

He Xueqing's ability first appeared when he was 16 years old. He discovered that his neighbor's flowerpots would fall and hit pedestrians, but his premonition could only be seen for a very short moment and could not change anything.

After the apocalypse, although he could see more things, he still couldn't change anything.

When he and Cen Yu stumbled and fell away from their hometown, he once thought that it would be great if he were more capable—he wanted to have more abilities like Cen Yu, instead of simply seeing the future.

He wanted to become a superhero, just like the cartoons he watched as a child, and protect the people he cared about.

Even after Cen Yu disappeared at the supermarket entrance, his ability remained unchanged; he could only see those brief glimpses of the future.

For countless years afterward, he would have similar nightmares: Cen Yu would make him stay in the same place and then disappear from his sight. Perhaps it was the intense regret of not being able to grasp something that made He Xueqing realize that his abilities had changed after Cen Yu left.

His "predictions" will all come true.

...

He Xueqing knew he was heading towards death. He was fully aware that his body was collapsing and that the group of people were doing something.

They also learned that the group had prepared an "observation diary" and were studying what to do if their bodies really died.

He Xueqing thought, then let's all die together.

The new researcher is an idiot. He knows the "prophet" is a monster, but he's willing to believe the falsehoods and beautiful assumptions of the safe zone, believing that the prophet will lead them into a new world.

He Xueqing will certainly lead them into the new world.

In his planned new world, all these people will be sent to hell for him, and then he will disappear, but he doesn't care.

His collapsed body became a pile of rotten flesh, but even so, they still hoped that He Xueqing would live, until they discovered that He Xueqing's spiritual power could freely construct his own body—after his body completely perished, he became a monster in the conventional sense.

The "He Xueqing"s in those buildings were just a cover; they were all disposable, discarded products.

Once He Xueqing's consciousness enters these containers, they will begin to break down after about ten minutes.

Most of the time, he maintained that monstrous appearance made up of countless cables and various things, only when needed would he use the container provided by those people to descend his consciousness and utter some false words.

It wasn't exactly a lie, He Xueqing thought. He would indeed lead everyone into a new world, but it wouldn't be the one they hoped for.

Knowing that those bastards had concealed Cen Yu's death and repeatedly deceived him, causing him to waste his life in his past foolishness, He Xueqing had already decided their fate.

The people in the dungeon didn't do anything wrong, but he didn't care.

He made a decision to maintain the false appearance of a "prophet" and tell the people in the safe zone that he would lead them away.

With just a few tricks, He Xueqing thought, with a bang, everyone could enter a new world with him.

That was the original plan, until he saw Cen Yu groping his way in.

He Xueqing found it difficult to describe her feelings at that moment. It was as if countless emotions had been blended into an unrecognizable mess by a blender. Among these emotions, the only one that He Xueqing could identify was fear.

His consciousness shrank back there, afraid to approach.

He was afraid of letting Cen Yu see him now that he had become a monster... but he also hoped that Cen Yu could accept him.

He watched Cen Yu enter those rooms and saw one "container" after another. Before he was born, those containers contained only simple emotions extracted from his past memories, while some inferior ones contained nothing at all.

He watched as Cen Yu hesitated when facing his own weeping self, and finally decided to lead Cen Yu into that room.

He specially displayed the lab reports and also included his own photo.

He saw the surprise in Cen Yu's eyes, and the way he clenched the lab reports when he saw them...

Cen Yu turned his head, and He Xueqing was secretly watching him. He dared not reveal his true face and could only observe quietly from the corner. Finally, he heard Cen Yu say—

"Fool."

He knew that Cen Yu had accepted himself as a monster.

He accepted the fact and didn't seem to mind.

What followed was perfectly logical; he wouldn't let anyone disrupt his plans...
