Chapter 99 A Fated Person

After Murong Yan entered, she glanced around and spotted the two figures in a study separated by a display shelf on the left side of the main hall.

Sitting at the desk was a stunningly beautiful woman dressed in black with long, flowing black hair, writing something on a piece of paper.

Judging from her awkward pen-holding posture, she must have only recently started learning to write.

Standing next to her was a petite and lively girl dressed in an elegant white dress.

The girl waved to her as she entered.

This must be Fairy Lianye!

Murong Yan walked over and was about to bow when she heard Lian Yao say, "Seventh Princess, please sit down."

Murong Yan wasn't too surprised that the other party knew who she was.

After all, whether they are true gods or false immortals, they need to find out the identities and appearances of everyone in the palace beforehand in order to deceive people.

Murong Yan walked to the first seat on the left and sat down. Suddenly, she noticed a cup of steaming tea on the small table on the left side of the seat.

She reached out and touched the cup; the temperature was just right.

"Did you two fairies know that Yan'er would be coming tonight?"

"Murong Yan asked."

Lian Yao smiled and said, "Tonight's tea is only waiting for one destined person. Once you arrive, it will be gone."

Murong Yan pondered the words carefully, feeling that the two were unfathomable. She picked up her teacup and took a sip.

She wasn't afraid that the two of them would harm her, since they had no grudge against each other, and if she died here, the two of them would also be implicated.

The tea was refreshingly sweet and had a lingering aftertaste. Moreover, after just a small sip, the pain in her injured areas was significantly reduced.

What kind of magical water is this?

Murong Yan was stunned for a moment, then quickly finished the whole cup of tea.

After putting down the cup, Murong Yan looked at the two of them again, and the expression in her eyes had changed.

She hesitated for a moment before speaking, "You two fairies are able to see into people's hearts, do you know the purpose of Yan'er's visit?"

Lian Yao smiled and said, "For mortals to live long, the simplest thing is self-love and self-control. If you can't do that, then no matter how many methods you are taught, it will be useless."

These words both answered her question and served as a reminder, which Murong Yan understood.

She stood up and bowed deeply to Lian Ye, "Yan'er understands, thank you Fairy Lian Ye."

As she stood up, Murong Yan's gaze inadvertently fell on the calligraphy that Ye Chen had been practicing on the table.

Although I couldn't understand what the words were, I inexplicably felt that those words were extremely mysterious, so I fixed my gaze on them and stood there in a daze.

Lian Yao was slightly surprised, exchanged a glance with Ye Chen, and did not disturb them.

Murong Yan stared at the calligraphy, feeling as if she had entered a profound state. After a long while, she finally came back to her senses, feeling extremely mentally exhausted, and her body swayed as if she was about to collapse.

"My two fairies, I apologize for my rudeness. I am not feeling well and must take my leave now!"

Lian Yao: "Please proceed, Seventh Princess."

Murong Yan forced a slight curtsy to the two of them, then left the room. She said to Jinse, who was waiting for her at the door, "Go back and have someone bring a sedan chair to fetch me. Remember, don't make a fuss."

Jinse nodded and quickly ran back.

Murong Yan forced herself to walk out of the courtyard and slowly moved a distance toward her residence. When she saw Jinse hurriedly leading people over, she could no longer hold on and collapsed.

Jinse rushed over to catch her, and hurriedly had the people behind her lift Murong Yan into the sedan chair as well.

Lian Yao, who saw this scene with his divine sense, laughed and said, "This seventh princess has such talent and understanding, and is also meticulous, intelligent and patient. No wonder she can become the chosen one."

Ye Chen, feeling a little jealous, pulled the person into his arms and sat them on his lap. "You were teaching me to write and draw talismans properly, but someone ruined it again, and you even praised her!"

Lian Yao smiled and pinched his cheek. "You have the best talent, okay?"

Ye Chen asked, "Is there a reward?"

"……No."

"You're just giving me the runaround!"

After much pleading and cajoling, Ye Chen finally got the person to rephrase their words and answer "Yes." Then, naturally, came Ye Chen's favorite part: asking for a reward...

The next morning, Murong Yan opened her eyes.

She hadn't slept so soundly since her mother passed away.

There were no recurring nightmares, nor was I easily awakened.

She even dreamed of her childhood, of her mother's gentle embrace and the first time she tasted osmanthus sugar cake.

Even the wound on my shoulder doesn't seem to hurt as much anymore.

When Jinse came in to change the dressing on her wound, Murong Yan realized that this was not her imagination.

The injury on her shoulder, which should have taken a month or two to scab over, had already healed completely.

Murong Yan immediately thought of that cup of tea.

With gratitude, Murong Yan bowed to the place where Lian Yao and the others lived. She then asked Jinse to re-wrap her bandages, painted her face white, and continued to pretend to be a wounded person in the carriage.

Normally, she would definitely think about how to get the Imperial Concubine to continue the scheme and how to close the net as soon as possible.

But now, she has no interest in those trivial matters.

The few incomprehensible words she had memorized yesterday flashed through her mind.

Although I spent a lot of energy observing it yesterday, I woke up feeling refreshed and much better.

From the moment Murong Yan drank that cup of tea, she understood that people like Lian Yao and Ye Chen could never enter the palace to become her father's concubines.

It's laughable that Consort Qi couldn't recognize people properly, and actually regarded them as enemies and rivals.

Of course, after confirming that the two were no ordinary people, Murong Yan's biggest worry was the longevity method they would pass on to the emperor.

Now that she had received confirmation, she was relieved.

Murong Yan knew her father very well; if he could exercise restraint, pigs would fly.

Then she remembered what Fairy Lianye had said last night: "You came, and they are gone."

Who are they?

"Who went to see the two fairies yesterday?" Murong Yan suddenly asked.

Jinse said, "Yesterday evening, just as the two fairies checked into their rooms at the inn, His Majesty, along with the Imperial Concubine and the Eleventh Prince, went to visit them again, showing them great concern. It was only after you, Your Highness, went that you visited. After you arrived, the other princes, princesses, and concubines all went to pay their respects, but the two fairies refused to see anyone and remained closed to visitors."

Murong Yan asked in surprise, "My older brothers and sisters are so well-mannered?"

Jinse laughed and said, "Master guessed it right. Yesterday, the Eighth Prince, relying on his status, forced his way into the two fairies' rooms. He was beaten up and thrown out by Fairy Yaochen. Later, Fairy Yaochen moved an artificial mountain from the inn and blocked the door of their room."

"Master, you were asleep and didn't see it. That artificial mountain was so big, it must have weighed at least several hundred kilograms. Fairy Yaochen, such a delicate beauty, actually lifted it up with just one hand! She casually tossed it down and the stone bricks on the ground were cracked."

"Upon hearing of this, His Majesty immediately gave the Eighth Prince a severe scolding, ordered him to be confined for three months, and commanded that no one be allowed to disturb the two fairies. Only then did the crowd below quiet down."

Murong Yan nodded and then carefully instructed, "Don't tell anyone about what happened last night. If anyone asks, just say that I was depressed because I was sick and accidentally fainted while I went out for a walk to clear my head."

Jinse nodded, "Don't worry, Master, I understand."

Murong Yan then said, "Go and find the brushes and paints I used to use for painting."

"yes."

Jinse gave a few instructions to the eunuchs accompanying her outside the carriage, and soon two palace maids brought in a pile of boxes.

“These paints have been sitting for a long time, and many of them are no longer usable. Your Highness hasn’t painted in a while, so why did you think of them today?” Jinse asked as she helped Murong Yan pick out the usable paints.

Murong Yan said, "The two fairies are people outside the secular world and do not like gold and silver. But since they have entered the world, they must be very curious about the affairs of the human world. They do not like others to disturb them, so I will draw some interesting stories here and add text to them to give to the two fairies to relieve their boredom."

Jinse said, "It is indeed Master's ingenuity! Those princes and princesses only send vulgar gifts, and they are unwilling to be generous and bring real good things. Such utilitarianism is naturally disliked by the two fairies."

Upon hearing this, Murong's expression turned solemn. "Kneel down."

Jinse immediately knelt at her feet.

“You’ve become increasingly audacious these past two years, casually uttering such careless words. Have you forgotten all the lessons I taught you?”

"I know I was wrong, I spoke without thinking," Jinse quickly said.

Murong Yan said, "There are many people and much gossip in this palace. Unlike the Noble Consort, I cannot allow my servants to laugh and joke as they please. Even if I say something wrong, I will be punished. How much more so for you? Remember, trouble comes from the mouth."

"Yes, this servant knows her mistake." Jinse humbly accepted the instruction.

"Get up. We're out of these colors of paint. Go find the eunuch and have them find the rest and send them over."

"yes."
